The Jedi Wayshrine on Kinyen was a minor Jedi temple and place of rest and worship used by the Jedi Order during the Galactic Republic era and rediscovered in the Force Eternal era.
Description
The shrine was located in the equatorial region of the planet Kinyen and was centered around an earthen mound situated at the juncture of the planet’s three biomes; grassland, forest and river.
Though much of the shrine was constructed below ground and within the earthen mound itself, an exterior stone courtyard was evident, ringed by a number of carved stone monoliths.
The only known entrance to the shrine was through either of two entry ways on the northern face of the mound. When its use, the entrance hall led to a large central chamber used for meetings, meditation and training. Fresh water was channelled through a culvert from the river into a small pool in the chamber, while hidden clefts beneath the roots of trees above allowed shafts of light to illuminate the interior during daylight hours.
Occupying much of the internal space above ground, the central chamber had four descending passages at each of the major compass points, each of which led to a single chamber believed to have been used for eating and sleeping.
A rest stop and place to recharge for short time, the shrine was austere and simplistic, offering a stripped back environment in which a Jedi might truly focus.
Long since fallen into ruin and disrepair, the shrine has not been in use for over a century. The exterior courtyard is cracked and overgrown, while only a few of the proud stone monoliths remain standing. The entrance remains blocked from a collapsed lintel and the interior is likely also in a grave state of repair from disuse and neglect.
History
Dating back to the age of the Galactic Republic, the shrine is believed to have been constructed by unknown Jedi as a rest stop, for members of the Order travelling to the Outer Rim worlds of the Galactic South. The planet lies at the juncture of the frequently travelled Corellian Trade Spine and Great Gran Run hyperspace routes, while the location itself is peaceful and serene.
With the fall of the Galactic Republic and subsequent near-extinction of the Jedi Order, the shrine fell out of use and eventually living memory. Only when numbers of Jedi began to swell again over a century later would it have any hope of being rediscovered.
Intent
To provide a derelict minor temple for present day Jedi to visit, in particular Jedi Knights Dash Demeric and Noone Shabar who plan to repair and restore it.
