With immense focus, he bore down. He felt something flowing through him, distant and sluggish, but there. It frustrated him that it was distant, and it seemed reluctant to be bothered, but it was there. He pushed it outwards from himself, reaching out to encircle the data pad, the rattling of the small device becoming distant to his ears as he bore down on the portion of his mind.

He distantly sensed the screen crack, and then the device imploded, yet he continued on, his frustration growing as the pad stubbornly resisted his efforts to move at more than a sluggish pace.

This moment was where the dark side diverged from the light. Where the light tried to calm down and regain composers the dark side it, it did not. Mortem delfed in to the soldiers mind. It was easy, a untrained force sentive mind was a open book and with him struggling it was easier. Mortem found the first leg on her journey the fear, the fear every solder on a battle field has, fear of death, fear of deafet fear of failing your brother in arms. But beneath that was was hatred, hatred at one's enemy hatred at your own for abboding you hatred at ones self for having fear. She grabbed that hatered and brought it to the surfaces the darkness hanging on with for the ride.

"Yes, yes let the hate fuel you let the darkness guid you. LET IT FULL YOU!" The scream was both physical and his mind and from his thoughts.

Fear was a distant and almost forgotten concept to Sidrin, something he associated with an adrenaline dump and all the other fun things that came with the onset of combat. He'd feared his entire life, to the point that fear had stopped meaning anything to him. It was an emotion he oft took for granted, like breathing, or the sensation of a heartbeat. Not something to be noticed unless you consciously thought about it. But hate?

Hate he could do.

He was unprepared for the onslaught of emotion the genetically manipulated human elicited in him. His emotion stirred, his blood rushed in his veins, and the ember of power he'd sensed beneath his mind exploded into an inferno. A feral snarl shot through his teeth as rage suffused him, his hatred at his own weakness, at the injustices of his life, of himself even, all flooding his mind. That hate that drove him, that slumbered deep within him, all loosed at once.

The lights shuddered as the force flowed through and around him, filling his mind with purpose and focus. He embraced the hatred, the force, and gave himself to the darkside, immersing himself in the chaos and reveling with it. The data pad was wrenched apart, right down to its component parts, all exploding into the air before him. they orbited around one another for a moment, before violently slamming together to become a compressed ball of shattered electronics that fell to the ground. Sidrin's breathing raced, his heart pounding furiously. He felt alive, well beyond anything he'd ever sensed, the force filling his mind and body with a renewed purpose.

A purpose of wrath.

Mortem smiled, the force was in deed strong with this one, he needed to tone and control him self better but that cam with practise. Though maybe a lesson in why it was needed. As he celebrated his success she let the darkness fuel her. Lifting Sidrin my the neck in a force choke, leaving but a gap to gasp for air. "Good, good, now learn to control it. For the difference between control and none is you gasping for air and you not having a wind pipe to breath through."

Dropping him back down with out any ceremony she relaxed again. "You need to learn to draw enough emotion to fuel you to what is required. Remember channelling the force can leave one exhausted if you only all ways go full on and some times you don't want to break things. You owe be a datapad by the way."

As something encircled his neck, Sidrin tensed, the force swirling around him with the impotent anger of weapon without a target. Already he could feel the fatigue settling into his bones, even before the initial effects of asphyxiation began to set in. Before the Draethos felt the need to truly react, he was released. He took a deep shuddering breath as all the rage began to seep away, and with it his connection to the darkside. Yet he knew it was still there, ready to be reached yet again if needed, though he would have to endure many lessons before he was truly worthy of being Sith.

Sith. Now he knew what it meant, to be one with the dark aspect of the force, to be the will of the empire incarnate.

It was intoxicating, and crippling at the same time. He knew he was capable of great destruction, beyond what was practical, if he let himself off the hook. He would need to contain his power, learn to control it, as he had his killer instincts as a youth. Rage without control and purpose was just a waste of time after all. He rose from his knees, where he had landed, considering the other 'acolyte' for the briefest of moments.

'Apologies. I didn't think it would be that intense.'

Mortem giggled "hee there is no need to apologies, I drew the power to you and willed you to use it. All you did was pull the trigger. I think a good way for you to temper your self is for us to try some thing different. I want you to sit down and close your eyes and focus, not on this room but this entire wing of the temple. Feel the force, feel the live, love, pain, fear and hatred. All things contain the force and the force change them but they change the force. You will be able to feel the people. This is not hearing them, but feeling them. After that I want you to focus on this room again, all things contain the force, some highly trained or gifted can see through the force alone but even the at the most basic one trained in the force can perceive there surroundings and if need be fight blinded.

That explained where the rush had come from, why he had felt his frustration multiply exponentially. He vowed to remember that moment, the sense of his anger cascading beyond his control. It would serve him well if he was ever played in such a manner again. Not that it was necessarily a bad thing, to feel the force blast through him so strongly, but it was fuel to a spark, and the inferno could consume him. He nodded, taking another breath and assuming his previous knelt position.

He let his mind float free momentarily, drifting, but not beyond himself. When he felt sufficiently relaxed, he began to broaden his mind, letting his anger grow closer to the core of him. Not too much, for that would be counter-intuitive. Rather he looked at it more like a cold fury, a sense of long stewing anger instead of an immediate wrath. He began by picturing the general shape of the wing, knowing it to some extent. He felt the force beginning to respond, flowing sluggishly outwards from him. He touched upon the anger that much more slightly, but in doing so, he felt that he was losing the subtlety, that he was being felt as much as feeling.

Impressions began to drift back to him. So much anger, confusion, pain, fear. He caught snapshots only, each causing a disruption in his perceptions as soon as it was formed. And at the center, he sensed himself, and the other acolyte in the room with him.

Mortem sat back, relaxing as she watched Sidrin explore. "Feel the hatred and darkness, now know that our enemy will seem calm, relaxed at peace during the storm of battle for that is the Jedi way. But we will not get to deep in to it, having a basic under standing of how to feel though the force is good enough for to day. Next we going to do some thing different. So far you have manifested the force out side and felt it around you. But you are with in the force. I want you to now focus on your self, let the hate flow and the darkness course through your body to fuel you. Feel your muscles pulse with hatred.

War was not a place to be calm and peaceful. Down that road lay complacency and death. That was weakness, the detachment from what made one sentient, and weakness was to be hated and loathed, rooted out and destroyed. He felt his hate swell, felt it escalate and boil throughout his senses. He could hear, from far away and yet right beside him, as Mortem spoke to him, directing him to focus his anger inward rather than outwards.

That was almost easier said than done.

He turned his rage on himself, allowing the force to condense within him, to boil, to fill him. He drove it into his flesh, turning it into the energy that propelled him, rising to his feet even as he did. There was a sense of thinly controlled power about him now, a feeling that he was on the verge of exploding into action as the dark side of the force thundered within him. The lightsaber snapped to his hand, seemingly of its own volition, and ignited.

He could feel the weapon now, as an extension of his arm rather than a sword within his grasp, yet it felt foreign and clunky at the same time. Too light, unbalanced, at odds with its own momentum.

'This is the power of the Sith?'

"This is indeed the power of the dark side, that the sith wield. Though you have just tasted it, sipped it from it. You have yet to feel the full power of the dark side, no one alive has that is why all strive for it strive for more. But hear this warning, the Jedi are not the siths greatest enemy, the Sith are the greatest enemy of a Sith. So be warned"

He could still feel the wrath of the dark side flowing through him, filling his body. The strength it imparted to him was intoxicating, and he had to steel himself lest he do something stupid because of it. He relaxed, letting the anger ebb, allowing the force to still within him. The lightsaber in his hand sputtered out as he disengaged it, and returned the hilt to his hip. Sidrin felt some measure of fatigue settling in, and considering that he was still injured from his last foray into combat, that wasn't surprising.

The Draethan acolyte understood, that they all sought power, and to be the strongest one had to crush those weaker than themselves. To grow in the force and the darkside he had to lay his enemies beneath his feet and climb higher than the sum of just himself. He considered the woman before him in a new light, speculatively. Would she come for him some day? Would she attempt to strike him down?

'I will heed your warning.'

The force was still there, flowing within him, just as it had been all this time, but stronger now. As he touched it, tasted the seductive kiss of its embrace, he felt his connection deepen. But even now he knew he had only dipped his toes in the water, and just as a man wading into a pool, to dive too deep too soon would drown him.

Mortem felt him relax she had told him all this not to frighten him but to warn him, he had skill and would be of use to the dark side and it would not e in the dark sides best intrust if he did not get killed by some lowly acolyte trying to make a name for him self. "Of course the way of striking down your weakened brother is the way of the sith has been and all ways will be. Though the Sith are not the only users of the Dark side of the force, nor are the Jedi the only ones hiding in the light."

Fear would get a soldier killed. The warning that the 'acolyte' had given him would serve him well however. He would trust none of them, never fully. Though such paranoia would make a team weak, he was no longer part of a team. As Sith, he understood that it would eventually be expected of him to either lead, or to act alone. If he was assigned to a master, he would learn from him until the time was right, and then he would move on or be set free.

He would watch the other acolytes with a stern and bloody minded eye in the meantime.

'It seems that all the Jedi are good for is hiding.'

Flashes of artillery strikes, of a glowing green core of energy, all flickered through the force. He winced, and sought to contain himself. Though emotion and range fueled the darkside, he could not let it burn out of control. He had to burn hot, instead of bright.

"For now though, I fear I must retire. I've yet to recover fully from my last battle. I presume I shall see you around the temple, acolyte?"
