WARNING: SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS
Moraband as it appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Sacrifice"
Moraband as it appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Sacrifice"
If you're a fan of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, then by now you've probably seen the sixth and final season, which was released on Netflix on March 7th. In the series finale, titled "Sacrifice," Yoda continues a quest he was sent on by the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn to face a series of trials. These trials are designed to prepare Yoda for learning the secret to eternal life, which is why Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi appeared as ghosts in the original trilogy. As part of these trials, Yoda travels to the Sith homeworld... of Moraband.
The reason I'm posting this is because there was a question about how the name Moraband affects The Star Wars RP. The Expanded Universe has always shown the Sith homeworld as being called Korriban, whereas in The Clone Wars it's called Moraband. When the episodes were released, Lucasfilm clarified the naming discrepancy. When "Sacrifice" was being written, the planet was originally referred to as Korriban. George Lucas, however, preferred the name Moraband for the Sith homeworld, so that was the name they went with. Nevertheless, Lucasfilm has said that the planet had many names in different eras of galactic history. Therefore, unless a film or TV series somehow says that the name Korriban isn't real, we can assume that the planet has had both names over its history.
On SWRP, we will officially continue referring to it as Korriban, as that is the name people are most familiar with, and because this site is based heavily on the Expanded Universe. However, you can refer to the planet however you'd like. If you want to call it Moraband, you may do so. That will only affect you, rather than how the site as a whole refers to the planet. We're fine with the multiple names too - in fact, we've also done that with Korriban. In the fourth timeline, the Bogan Empire was headquartered on a world called Conscio. After the timeline was over, we retconned that planet to be an earlier, less-arid version of Korriban.
Hopefully this clarifies things if you had a question about Moraband. Thanks for reading!
