The preview for the Lando mini-series has been revealed.

You know him...you love him...now, join him for his biggest caper as master of charm Lando Calrissian gets his very own comic book! Before he joined the rebellion, before he ran Cloud City, Lando made his way in the galaxy getting by on some swindles, some swagger, and a smile. Lobot at his side, Lando has a plan to steal a very valuable ship...but has he bitten off more than he can chew?

Show great art here. Marvel is really putting top people on their Star Wars comics.

I read the first issue of this yesterday. My reaction was decidedly mixed. There were some things I enjoyed. I liked the art. I liked the characterization of Lando. I liked Lobot, and thought it was cool how they basically made those two good friends.

There were two big things I didn't like, though. This issue was VERY talkative. It was mostly Lando talking to people, then Lando talking to Lobot, then Lando and Lobot talking to people, then Imperials talking to other Imperials. The one big action beat was largely glossed over. Rather than actually showing us the action -- the theft of the ship over Castell -- we only saw glimpses of it. It used the trick where you see the action taking place while a character is explaining what the plan is. Meh. Hopefully the next few issues are more action-oriented, or at the very least have more interesting conversations.

The second big issue I had was that this first issue dove head first into Small Universe Syndrome. It wasn't enough that Lando and Lobot had to steal a ship from someone. No, it was -- GASP! -- the Emperor's ship, in drydock over Castell. Which makes for this really weird ending. Lando is a nobody at this point, yet the issue ends with Mas Amedda talking to the Emperor on Coruscant. That's a really odd juxtaposition between the central character and what the comic is implying is the importance of his latest escapade. Unfortunately, that's not something that the comic can improve upon, since this will likely be the plot of the remaining four issues.

I thought the first two issues were extremely boring, but with 3 and 4 introducing Sith artifacts, I find them much more interesting. I still think the fact that Lando stole the Emperor's ship, full of ancient Sith artifacts, is super small universe-y, but the lore is interesting at least. And it's clearly set up for Episode VII.

I feel the same about issues, the second half of the series got very interesting. I like the crew Lando hired, namely the two Felines who I thought were brothers(Or something akin) rather then lovers.

Rereading issue 1. Lando says he doesn't know if they're brothers, or clones, or what they are, expect they're extremely close. He takes to calling them the twins.

Also Korin is a woman.

This what I think going to happen. Twins die. Chanath lets Lando and Korin go, but takes the ship. Lando swiped one of the priceless Sith artifacts and sells/plays to buy/win Cloud City.

Lobot's implants take over his mind. :(

I hope Lobot's implants don't take over, but it certainly seems to be headed in that direction. =/

I also think you're probably right about swiping an artifact and using it to get Cloud City.

A much stronger finish here than the Liea mini. Good, if bittersweet, and shows why Lando went straight instead continuing as a con artist.

They played on our expectations to by making the bounty hunter Lobot's old girlfriend instead of Lando's. Lando really can shoot too. The longest con baby.

Yeah, I was overall meh on this mini-series but I liked the ending. Good character development for Lando.

My prediction was incorrect and much disappoint ensued...for the rest of the series.
