Usually Ruusan doesn't catch any waves in galactic affairs, but apparently there is some sort of coup d'etat going on that planet. The planet is plagued with instability. Tyler Ward doesn't know a lot of the details, but regardless the Galactic Alliance is heading in this fast, face-first. A faction of the planet's defense forces are trying to overthrow the planet's democracticlly elected government. The why of it he doesn't know but the Galactic Alliance wants to jump in the fray. They want this coup d'etat quelled and then use that as leverage to get on the planetary governments good side. If all goes well, there will be just enough good will to bring them in the the Alliance's fold. But of course that will come all in good time, for now as far as everyone knows the Galactic Alliance does not exist and it needs to stay that way for the time being.

But the Galactic Alliance people dispatched on the planet are operating under the cover of as a private military group. That's a polite way of saying mercenaries but their goal here is still all the same. Tyler Ward and company are sent to rescue the planet's prime minster, who is currently being held up - according to intelligence reports - in the capital city's parliament building. There the loyalist guards are fighting against the renegade military forces. Looking around the corner of a pillar, Tyler Ward can see the loyalists taking positions on top of the staircase against four turncoats at the bottom looking to gain ground upwards. Not much progress going on there for either side. Maybe the Rebellion agents can turn the tide? Yes they can The rebels would be in the turncoat's rear.

The ex-Imperial Agent has his armor on, he has a blaster rifle in hand, also has his other standard equipment on him, in addition to two spare powerpacks for his rifle? "You two ready to go?" Tyler would turn towards his fellow Rebels, making sure they are ready to get started. The faster the Rebels can get through this the better it will be for everyone. There maybe four hostiles now, but there could be more coming in fast. Plus every second this is going on, the less chances they will have to rescue the Prime Minster. The GA won't gain any leverage over them from this if the Ruusanians handle this themselves after all.

Valerie held one of her two blasters in her right hand and in her left she clasped a pair of macrobinoculars, surveying the scene of the extravagant parliamentary building. It was impressively large with multiple entry and exit points. She knew little to nothing about the government of Ruusan. All that she did know was that it was their job to prevent the assassination of the planet's Prime Minister. A part of her questioned the reasoning behind the coup d'etat and who it was exactly that they were protecting but she really wasn't in any place to ask. Nevertheless the urgency of the mission was palpable as in a matter of minutes, there could potentially be untold amounts of defectors at the door of the place. Luckily so far only a handful of renegades had arrived at the building yet they already seemed to be beating back the parliamentary guards. A poor show from the home team, she thought with a frown.

Valerie lowered the binoculars and clipped them to her belt, she then made sure that both of her blasters were in proper working order before holstering both of them. She turned to the two partners that she had been assigned to work with. Both of them she had never worked with before and didn't exactly know what to expect from their abilities. It seemed to be a habit in the Alliance to throw a group of strangers together and expect them to put their lives in each others hands. To some degree it made sense considering the scarce resources of their faction yet Valerie was not prepared to go trusting anyone anytime soon. Her eyes glanced over the Pantoran first. She seemed to be fairly withdrawn and had this dignified air about her that she couldn't quite place, not that she minded. The other member of their little trio was man whose name she knew only from the mission briefing. Tyler Ward, she remembered. He seemed quite professional about the whole process which amused Vee to some degree. Other than that she didn't know what to think of the guy.
"I'm ready whenever you are hotshot." She replied humourously.

Fey stood with her back to the pillar adjacent Tyler, but between Valerie about a meter apart. The Pantoran woman had her hands secured on her own blaster rifle, secured twin daggers in the belt at her waist, and her staff which she kept always secured to her back. She surveyed the building which sat above some stairs, above their current position. The urgency of their mission was thick in the air, and the city around them seemed to bend to it's will.

The blue-skinned woman glanced between her two companions and pondered the situation briefly. She was not completely aware of Ruusan's government inner workings, nor the need for the GA to interfere. Beyond the briefing these people had never met, but Fey felt confident in the Alliance's choices as it stood, and therefore felt it would be counter-productive to doubt the skills of her team members. She nodded to each in turn as they voiced the start of their mission. "I'm ready. Let's do it."

The young woman lowered her rifle then, so it was in a ready position but facing the ground. Her hand made to rest near the trigger, ready at any moment to open fire.

Hotshot eh? Tyler smiled and chuckled lightly. He hasn't been called that in a good hot second. "Alright, here we go" his smile would drop as the rebel team are now officially inserting themselves into the fray.

Tyler would plant his back on the pillar and then aim with his blaster rifle towards one of the four turncoats that are battling the loyalists above. Tyler would aim and fire two shots of his blaster at one. The two bolts would strike one in the back, killing that person right off the bat. The renegade would be caught by surprise and shock as the blasterbolts came at their flank would cause them to start scattering. Tyler quickly aimed his blaster at another one of them and squeeze off two more shots, but didn't have the same effect as one of them just made a glancing hit on the anti-loyalist trooper's armor and the second shot just him missed entirely as they were still scattering. Tyler would then fully retreat behind his cover immediately after firing his last shots to minimize chances of him getting hit.

The loyalists firing up from on top of the staircase were also confused when the first Alliance shots would be fired, but they are firing upon the Ruusan rebels and not them. They would keep firing upon the renegades. It's free help and relief for the loyalists after all.

Still, with one of those four dead, it shouldn't take too long to mop the rest of them up. Hopefully, because more of them could arrive at any moment. Tyler trusts that his partners can help him dispatch the rest of the mooks in a timely manner before that happens.

Valerie watched as Tyler took the initiative. He had successfully managed to take out one of the four renegades that threatened the palace. She drew both of her blasters and followed suit. She ran directly behind one of the large pillars scattered across the expansive lobby area and waited a few seconds for the initial counter attack to cease. It seemed that the turncoat group had begun to panic as to which direction they should be focusing on and then tried to find sufficient cover of their own. It wwas then when Valerie sprung out from behind her cover and attempted two shots from each of her blasters. To her dismay, the one blaster refused to fire. Kriff, she thought in frustration, faulty gas cartridge. She was beginning to find that her trusty blasters had started to become more and more unreliable. The other shot however actually managed to escape the blaster barrel yet narrowly missed its target.

Valerie spun back around behind the pillar before any further counter fire occurred and holstered the faulty blaster. Guess I'll just have to wing it with the one today. This was hardly her best attempt at a blasterfight but if this rough luck continued, she imagined that things could get significantly worse.

Fey had moved at the same time that Valerie had, letting Tyler spark the begging of their battle. She rounded her pillar the opposite way, taking aim and planting her feet all within one motion. Fey let a shot go at the first target that came within her scope, and for good measure released another directly after. Both struck target of the renegade in their side, and Fey watched with relief as they fell to the ground. "Another down." Fey was mostly speaking to herself, taking mental note of the numbers.

Knowing then that the enemy's attention would most likely have been drawn towards their direction, Fey dropped to her right knee beside the pillar she chose for cover and fired off two more shots, although this time she had taken less time to aim in anticipation of return fire. The woman's shots missed, and she immediately rounded the corner of the pillar so her back was flush against its side once again. She looked towards her companions for the next move. There were only two renegades left, and they had to make quick work of them before numbers increased.

The enemies would find themselves scattering for cover at their position. Tyler popped out to fire his rifle, but the target he picked out was a little too quick and Tyler was a bit too slow on the draw, therefore the shots he would fire were ineffective. But one of them manage to aim and fire on Tyler while he was committing to shots. Tyler saw this and tried retreating back to cover as quickly as he could, but he wasn't fast enough. A blaster bolt struck him on his right shoulder. "Oh shit" he gritted his teeth as that piece of his armor was ruined and he could feel the burns (and some bleeding?) beneath where that armor was. Well, it's a good thing he was wearing armor in that area, or he could have had his shoulder blown off or something like that.

With that, for now the former Imperial agent would stay in cover where he was, body fully concealed as he tends to his wound. It would be harder to fire his weapon anyway and he doesn't want to risk getting hit again so soon. The pain will go away in time, but is there for now. At least he isn't so injured that he is out of the mission all together.

While this is all going on, the loyalists from form on high manage to land a few good hits to take down one more of the anti-government rebels. That would just leave one more to take down.

A frown spread over Valerie's face as she witnessed Tyler taking a blaster bolt to the shoulder, the wound did not look fatal not serious enough to warrant a prosthetic as hers did yet she could understand the pain he was experiencing. Valerie took a large breath in and spun around the pillar once again, this time she raised her working blaster and fired two shots at the one remaining renegade. The first shot struck the rebel right between his eyes, killing him instantly. To some extent she felt bad for the group of turncoats yet on a mission such as this, it was kill or be killed. Valerie raised her blasters and approached the group of loyalists at the top of the staircase and spoke out, "Don't shoot, we've been sent to assist in the evacuation of your Prime Minister." Her words were calm and professional. At first the loyalists were hesitant yet after the clear display of assistance that was the firefight they agreed to let the rebels pass. One of the loyalists spoke out, "You'll have to be quick, reports of another large group of renegades is said to arrive shortly." His voice betrayed the fact that he was extremely fearful of the situation that he was in.

Valerie nodded, she beckoned to the other two rebels.
"You heard the man, let's move." Her eyes focused on Tyler, she understood that he was injured however if he was unable to continue with the group then perhaps it was best that he remain behind. She would leave that decision to him though.

72 hours passed since the start of the round, so posting right now. You can post again this new round @Fey Aadedai, moving on for now.

As Valerie went on the finish things up, Tyler was still tending to his blaster wound. It stings like hell, but he was fortunate he decided to wear armor today, otherwise he might have had his shoulder blown clean off. A terrible thought. Valarie went to make sure communicate to the loyalists to make sure that they don't shoot at the GA member and reaffirm that they are on the same side. Lets move, Tyler would nod his his head. "Coming. Just a flesh wound" he gave a pained chuckle, gritting his teeth afterwards. It's awkward and a bit painful to shoot a rifle but he is far from useless, plus he still has one good arm as well. Not only that, if he remained behind or tried leaving he'd probably be in the path of those incoming rebels that the kind guard said are due to arrive shortly.

As the Rebels would make their way inside the parliament building, being escorted to the planet's Prime Minster by those guards. Looks like the the place as seen better days he would glance here and there as they would navigate those halls. They would be heading towards the building's saferoom where the Prime Minister would be held.

Once they are arrived, they would see the Ruusanian prime minster under guard by more of his guards. Tyler would then appoarch the man, the Prime Minster's guards of course being diligent and had rifles at the ready. "Prime Minister sir, we get you out. We are with the Galactic Alliance. Do you have an escape route?" Only the highest levels of the government are aware of the GA's involvement in this and the Prime Minster would count as such. The Prime Minster would nod in agreement. The Prime Minster's guards would lead the way towards the exit, the Prime Minster would be in tow and be hanging back so he is protected the best. Tyler would be following with, he would have a pistol in his hand with his rifle slug to his good shoulder. They should be safe in here right?

But as they headed towards the emergency exit, eight anti-government rebels would start popping forth around the corner, with rifles in hand. How did they get in? They must have found another way in. Maybe the same exit they are trying to get the Prime Minster out of. Shame that exit is compromised, but they have little choice but to move forward - once the opposition is out of the way - since the main exit is going to have goons on it. Tyler would find cover behind a supportbeam along the walls. This is going to be one heck of a shoot out. As Tyler would make a break for it behind cover, he would raise his pistol and haphazardly squeeze off 4 shots of his pistol towards the group of enemies. Two of four bolts manage to find their mark on one of the rebels, putting him down, the rest all missed. Now the firefight begins...

The group had managed to promptly make its way to the Prime Minister without another confrontation. Luckily it seemed like they had organised a secret evacuation route through the building and that this would allow for them to avoid another blasterfight. Considering Tyler's condition, that outcome seemed most favorable. Things seemed to be going smoothly enough until right before reaching the exit point of the building, a large group of renegades appeared from the woodworks. Kriff, Valerie thought in frustration, I guess it can never just be easy for once. Valerie quickly drew her single working blaster and slid behind a wall corner.

She waited a couple seconds before vaulting out from behind the wall corner and firing a volley of three shots. Two of them managed to find there mark on the shoulder of one of the turncoats and unfortunately he was not as lucky as Tyler. His arm was nearly severed from its socket and he fell, lifeless. Upon landing on the marble flooring, Valerie rolled nimbly behind one of the pillars, narrowly dodging a hail of counterfire. From her new spot of cover, she peered around the pillar to fire off a couple bolts and they too found their target, incapacitating another renegade.

Having made their way into the parliament building without further confrontation, the pantoran watched with concern as Tyler favored his injured shoulder. The blue woman took to maintaining watch of the outside of the building from the exit, allowing her other two companions to do the talking to the Ruusanian prime minister. The woman lifted the scope of her blaster rifle as the others began moving toward the exit swiftly- only to be met head on by 8 enemies, already aware of them.

Taking up ahead of the Prime Minister to perhaps attempt to provide more safety, the woman took aim and squeezed off a shot at the rebels closest and most threatening to the group, hitting her target with accuracy.

Anticipating herself to be thrown into the enemy's scope now, Fey dropped and solidly leapt behind the nearest pillar, somewhere near Valerie as she heard her companion fire in response. Glancing around the corner, she took aim again, lining up a renegade between the crosshairs of her scope and squeezed, making her mark in the chest. Although the woman felt a slight tug of sadness through the force for such careless waste of life, but now was not the time for such remorse with such an important task on hand.

Still behind the duracrete support beam for cover, Tyler saw blaster shots firing all through the area, across and from the other side. Tyler already got hit and he was being really cautious this time as to not get hit again because getting hit with blaster shots is not a good feeling, and next time could be even worse.

The ex-Imperial Agent would then stick his blaster pistol out from cover and then begin firing randomly in the direction of the enemies. Predictably, his blind firing hit nothing besides the wall and the end of the corridor. Waste of shots really, didn't even suppress the enemy. At least his cover kept him out of enemy fire.

While the Prime Minster is safe, his guard detail would be batting the enemy alongside the Alliance Members. They are covered pretty well and taking minimal losses themselves although although they haven't caused any damage towards the anti-government rebels in return. The enemy numbers are slowly and surely wilting

It seemed as though the group of rebels were doing well in their efforts against the renegades and already their ranks had begun to thin. From Valerie's vantage point further back behind the pillar she could see the entire battlefield clearly and the locations of her enemies where obvious. One of the renegades had attempted to circle around the outskirt of the room in order to flank the group however Valerie had spotted him with ease. She sprang out from behind her pillar and beelined forward towards him. She deftly dodged a thrown grenade which exploded causing one of the pillars to come crashing down in front of her providing her with another object of cover.

Valerie ducked behind the fallen pillar and aimed a volley of shots at the isolated turncoat. The first shot went completely wide however the second managed to strike him solidly in the leg. The renegade dropped to the floor quickly and writhed in pain for a few moments before passing out. At least he wasn't killed outright, she though to herself. There were only four renegades left so it seemed like things would go much more smooth than she had originally expected.

Having removed the majority of the renegades numbers, Fey was beginning to feel a bit more confident about their success rate. She was still pressed behind the pillar, and was in a position where she could make out Tyler's position from behind the support beam he was using for cover. Scattered around the Alliance members, she could see the Prime Minister's guard also firing at the remaining rebels.

Moving to duck around the opposite side of her pillar, Fey took a moment for a rebel to show himself, and squeezed off two shots. They were no good, missing their mark just barely. This meant that immediately her position would be compromised, and this was confirmed a moment later when a blaster shot grazed her left upper arm, singing her light armor and drawing some blood. Fey hissed with the initial pain, but it was no more than a burning sensation and luckily nothing too bad.

The pantoran woman gripped her rifle to her side, and peered out towards another pillar which was slightly closer to Valerie which would give her a better shot at the renegades. Moving lithely, Fey kept low and quickly reached her new vantage point. She breathed for a moment, then took aim at the same rebel she had missed before, this time she was in a better position as she took aim at his chest and hit her mark. Another down. That would leave three rebels between them and removing the Prime Minister.

This fight is winding down, the Alliance and the Prime Minster's guard detail are pressing their advantage over the hostiles. The Prime Minster's guard are holding their own and have taken very little losses. The Head of Government's guard better be this well trained. As for the Galatic Alliance members themselves Fey and Valerie are doing some damage. Tyler has by this point has more-or-less gotten used to the pain from his shoulder getting hit early on in this mission. It's a little stiff and still stings, but it's useable. Nothing like what some kolto will fix when they extract from here.

Tyler still using the duracrete support beam, it's given him a good vantage point and good tough cover at the same time. He went to fire his pistol towards the last few hostiles, spotted one, but an enemy shot at him with one blaster bolt and Tyler barely narrowly avoided that hit by pivoting. Deciding to play it safe for a few more seconds, he would catch another one of the Ruusanian hostiles commiting to shots elsewhere. Tyler would fire his pistol twice, the bolts making their marks and put the guy down. That would leave just two more by this point. Pressing the advantage, with the amount of friendlies and the other GA members here compared with the lack of hostiles one good push and they can clear the room without too much trouble.

Until suddenly a Ruusanian rebel in perfect cover behind a pillar popped out suddenly and fire two rounds at Tyler's center of mass before he would retreat behind cover again in hopes of avoiding getting tagged himself.

Reflexes failed Tyler and he can't avoid those shots. He would take two shots to he chest. His armor broke under the impact of one and just in case the first one didn't hurt, the second one definitely did. As he can feel two newly made impact marks where that piece of armor used to be, burnt flesh and blood rushing and everything. Not long after hitting the ground, Tyler passed out, although still alive. "Kriff..." he would mutter before his vision fades to black.

Turning her blaster down to aim at the ground, the woman pressed her back firmly to the pillar adjacent to Valerie and a bit ahead of Tyler. They were well on their way to completely snuffing out this round of renegades, and if they made use of their time they would have a fair chance of removing the Prime Minister from the parliament building before the reinforcements were called.

Fey was about to peek around the corner of her pillar to take a shot at a remaining rebel, when out of her peripheral she could see the movement, slightly horizontal through the pillars a renegade swoop to get an angle on Tyler who was slightly behind her line of vantage. Before she had any time to react, she heard the telltale resonation of two blaster shots in Tyler's vicinity.

Thinking fast, the pantoran made to run back to her previous position which was situated closer to where Tyler had been, in the time it took to run there she was able to line up the rebel who had fired on Tyler in her sights, and quickly squeezed off two shots at him, both of which hit their mark and effectively silenced the hostile.

Trusting that Valerie would be able to handle herself, she made to also take cover behind the duracrete support beam that Tyler had been utilizing. She hovered over her fallen companion, taking in the damage that he had sustained including checking his pulse and assessing his condition for only a second before concluding that he had blacked out. They would have to now remove Tyler to ensure his safety as well as the Prime Minister. Fey looked back at where Valerie was still pushing back with the Prime Ministers guard, although there should only be one or two renegades left. "Valerie! Tyler's down!" Fey called to her companion, beckoning the woman as soon as she could.

Even though the group had been successfully beating back the renegades, it seemed that they were not to go down without a fight. One of the two remaining opponents had managed to get a clear shot on Tyler and he went down quickly. The blaster bolt seemed to hit him directly on the chest and an injury like that was bound to be more serious than his last. Valerie's brow furrowed in worry. Fey managed to get a couple good hits on the attacker and made her way to check on the downed rebel. "I'll be over there in just a second!" she shouted.

The final renegade entered a state of utter panic as he realised that he was now alone in the fight. In an attempt to escape the battlefield he ran directly for the exit that they had intended to use. Valerie vaulted over the pillar and followed suit. She lifted her blaster and fired two shots at the turncoats feet and the man stumbled and fell to the floor. He started to weep and beg for forgiveness, throwing his own rifle to the side. Valerie simply drew the wrench from her belt and swung it at the back of his head, knocking him out cold. She would leave him for the locals to decide his fate.

With the renegade group defeated and the path now clear of hostiles, Valerie gave the go ahead for the Prime Minister and his guards to evacuate. She quickly made her way back to Tyler and Fey and knelt down beside him. He was alive yet he had taken some major damage and it was only a matter of time before he would bleed out.
"Help me get him out of here." her words were urgent and firm. She grabbed an emergency transceiver from her belt and spoke into it, "I'm going to need a medical emergency evac asap." Valerie lifted one of Tyler's arms over her shoulders and hoisted him up. "Come on hotshot, stick with us." Hopefully her call for help would be answered.

When there was a call for a emergency medical evac, a transport was dispatched. There would also be another transport for the Prime Minster on the way as well. The transports would be on their way, having been already on standby due to the VIP involved (the Prime Minster) and sensitive nature of the mission. After all, the Prime Minster could have been wounded at any point during the rescue attempt, or even before. The shuttles wouldn't waste any time

The Galactic Alliance team would be eventually extracted, any wounds would sustained heal with time (and with lots of Kolto in Tyler's case). The Prime Minster and his guard detail would be off the planet safe and sound and they have the GA to thank for that, helping with securing influence on Ruusan.

/end thread.
