Where has anyone said anything derogative?

Let me see...when you generalize a behavior or appearance to a certain gender, or make sweeping generalities of any kind towards a gender, or make comments such as "ugh, men and their..." (...Padme........) then it becomes bigoted and sexist (unless it's like "ugh, men and their penuses). At that point one has made a derogatory statement.

mtntop, you're awesome in my book. Even if there is a chance you are trolling. However, nobody is going to really do anything about what's being said here until it becomes blatant disrespect. (rule of life, nobody can or will follow 'law'/'rule' to the letter)

EDIT: *deletes paragraph* Oh look at me, being a disrespectful idiot...as usual. D:

I am not "trolling" I found their posts genuinely insulting.

I can never be entirely sure when someone is trolling or not online anymore. *glares at Solaris* I was simply stating there was a chance. However, I am inclined to agree. I find the sweeping gender-based generalities to be rather offensive. Both because of those that call me an ignorant, foolish, thuggish person (essentially) just because I am a man, and because of those that try so desperately to prove those generalities right by making equal statements of the women.

As I said, love is a choice. It is the same choice as compassion, kindness and charity. And many who decide that love is irrelevant, worthless, and a fallacy tend to lack compassion, kindness and charity as well.

EDIT: To make clear what I said: many (as in not all, but enough to be considered "many") and tend (as in not always, but more than simply sometimes).

Also, to be clear, I don't mind jokes. Anyone here who talks to me much (Solaris/Padme) know I tend to make jokes about gender roles. But 1) I joke; 2) Right time; 3) Right place; 4) right crowd.

I feel there were few generalizations here that were jokes. And with such a diverse community, even if they were, it was not the right place and definitely not the right crowd. And it seems most would've been timed far too badly to be funny anyways.

Late to the party, but Matt should totally **** his friend. If they're mutually attracted to each other, I don't see what the harm is. People try to ascribe way too many rules and needless formalities to sex. It's weird, authoritarian, and frankly reveals more about the person anxious about unsanctioned ****ing than anyone else.
I disagree, I'm not going to continue to complain, seeing as nobody would probably be interested. All I'm sayin was that a few posts offended me and came across as violating that rule.

Oh, I'm very interested. What's say you and I discuss this over dinner?

I guess I see it as trolling with mcntop because I used to troll, and he's sayig exactly what I would if I was trying to do so. No offense bro, if you're not trolling, which you have said you aren't, i'll force myself to kind of believe you. ;)

I'm kind of confused by this whole thread. First person to quote the post where it first went off track is awesome! :CGape

Me. He seems lovely enough, but I don't rush into these things; I've been hurt before.

I personally, do not believe in monogamy or this "True Love" phenomenon that people so desperately search for. I personally think monogamy is silly (although I respect married couples and do not attempt to touch engaged or married lasses) and that we as humans are not meant to mate for life, we are too social of creatures. I think we as humans have bound ourselves by what culture deems the "norm" and anyone who stands outside of that image is viewed as outcast, which is unfortunate.

However like I said I do believe in a different form of love, I think love is more of a value term than a "emotion" and I also believe it is an overused and cheapened term in most countries. The word Love signifies value on another person or object which is gained through the expense of the most valuable commodity we as humans have, time. If we love everything around us than the term Love loses nearly all value when we say it to our significant other/mate/squeeze. So yes, I think love is a value term that is unappreciated and overused, so I believe it is perfectly acceptable to "Love" more than a single person.

With that stated
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I love less than half of you half as well as you deserve." - Bilbo Baggins (slightly altered)

We can be just friends! ^-^

Also I too vote that Matt should have sex. He'll feel better, and what bad could possibly come out of it [if he uses a condom].
