Imperial Navy Academy, Carida
There were a great many things about this civil war within the Sith Empire that Nymeria did not like, but this one had to be right near the top. The fact that all the knowledge accumulated by the Sith Empire over the course of the last five centuries was now split up between the two factions made life very difficult for someone with her aspirations. The research she had been carrying out for weeks now had hit a dead end because her last lead let her here, to an Imperial Academy within what was Imperial Republica territory.

She had tried to come up with ways to get her hands on what lay with the Academy's archives without having to actually show up here, but having run out of ideas she had made finally made the trip. The good thing was that in the grand scheme of things she was a virtual unknown, and very few, if any, Sith would actually know who she was or where her allegiances lied. So she had slipped into the town that had popped up around the academy and talked her way into the Academy grounds. But as she couldn't really use her own credentials to get into the archives, she was going to have to find someone foolish enough to let her into the archives, after a quick access to the right records was all she needed before she would be safely on her way back.

Eddard had enjoyed a long and full education within an Imperial Academy much like the one on Carida during his time as a young Sith but this one seemed to be more focused on the Naval side of things. Which, admittedly, was something that Eddard needed to brush up on. Which was why he was striding through the grounds towards the archives, looking to pick up some information about fleet combat that he hadn't yet spent any time learning.

As he approached the entrance however, he frowned as he saw a young woman loitering around the door itself. She seemed to be very interested in the entrance to the archives but wasn't making any moves to enter it herself. Frowning, he reached into his robes and pulled out his half mask, attaching it firmly before moving closer, a hand resting easily on the lightsaber on his right side. He didn't drew it yet, not sure who this woman could be.

He did however, start to channel the Force to himself in preparation even as he stopped ten meters from the woman and called out to her.

"Are you lost?" he called out, eyes narrowing, "Why don't you just use your student ID card to enter?"

All the while he was slowly drawing his right-hand lightsaber and trying to detect lies with the Force. If they were just a ditzy student who had dropped their pass then there would be nothing to be afraid of. If they were someone else however? Well then... that would mean he would know exactly how to treat them.

He had his two lightsabers, his custom armour and his DH-7 blaster pistol strapped to the small of his back in stun mode. If this was something suspicious, he was ready for it.

This was just the kind of trouble that Nymeria had been hoping to avoid, but this is what happened when you tried to rely on luck to get the job done. Well, she was just going to have to find a way to spin this around and find a way into the archives, and if that if that did not work, well then she could just find a way out of here and try something else.

"Hmm? Lost?" She replied, trying to appear surprised by his question but not worried, "Oh, no. I'm just waiting for someone. My Master's inside you see, I'm not allowed within, but she does need me to carry her books back when she's done." She smiled at him and ended with a tone that made it obvious that she wasn't interested in saying more on the matter. Hopefully the man would buy the excuse, which seemed believable enough for some of the more slothful Sith who seemed to populate the ranks of the Republica, relying on servants for almost everything.

Eddard wasn't buying it.

Not only because the Force was giving him slight warnings about the woman but also because he had never known an archive in an Imperial academy to be closed to students. This whole facility was built for students to learn - where was the benefit in restricting students? This wasn't the Jedi Order after all, the Sith let anyone learn anything and then let those teachings destroy those too weak to use them properly or advance those that could.

"Somehow I find that hard to believe." he admitted, drawing his stun blaster in his left hand and igniting his right hand lightsaber, thankful that his left hand saber was still hidden in his robes, "So I'm going to be taking you for a little walk, down to Imperial Intelligence, where we're going to have a little talk."

He tilted his head to the side slightly and the fixed smile of his mask likely made it look a touch odd.

"You got any issues with that?"

Nymeria wanted to let out a sigh, sometimes things just didn't work out the way you wanted them to. This, unfortunately, seemed to be turning into one of those times. The man really was persistent, and as her attempt to talk her way out of the situation hadn't worked she was left with few options. She couldn't really spin another tale, the time for that was gone. Note for next time, come prepared with a cover story if you're going to be loitering around places where you aren't supposed to be. But that was all contingent on first getting out of here. She needed to lose her inquirer first.

"Sure," She replied, acting natural and turning as if about to begin walking where he intended, "lead the way." But as she was turning, there was a moment where the palm of on hand was facing towards the man, and in that moment she sucked in the Force and pushed back against him. It didn't matter if he got pushed away or she did, all that mattered was that she open up some distance between the two of them. And as he was much bigger and bulkier than her, she found herself pushed away from him. At the same time, prepared for a reactionary attack from him, she ducked her upper body so that she was in a slight crouch as she skidded back, hoping to reduce the area open to him to attack in case he pulled out that blade of his. At the same time with a more compact body shape she would be better prepared to move around and dodge any attacks if required.

"Sorry," she said as she came to a stop after her push, "if it's all the same I'd rather avoid Imperial Intelligence."

She seemed reasonable - why couldn't more people be reasonable and just come on down to Imperial Intelligence? If they had nothing to hide it was an inconvenience at worst! If they had something to hide he would admit that things kind of took a nose drive for those involved who weren't him but what the hell did he care?

And then came the stinger!

Growling in annoyance as he was pushed back a few feet by her Force push, he managed to keep his feet under him by crouching slightly so as to present a smaller surface area to the attack. He already had his blaster out so when the attack stopped it was ready to go straight away.

"Sorry for making it seem like a choice."

Using the Force he gripped her by the throat, attempting to lift her by an invisible hand. Not only would it begin to choke her but it would hold her roughly in place for the two stun bolts he sent for her centre mass from his blaster pistol at the same time. Eddard wasn't happy but he was still playing nice for now.

She had hoped to flee, but almost at once she realized her mistake. She should have tried to defeat him, in doing so she would ensure her escape as well, but that lack of initial killer instinct had resulted in her not taking full advantage of the element of surprise. She reacted instinctively as she felt the Force tightening around her throat, and countered it by throwing up a barrier around her neck to resist the grip. But while she was doing that she was unable to defend against the blaster bolts that accompanied the grip. Her lightsaber was still at her waist, unable to aid her in facing the attack, and even as her hand went down to grip her blade the first shot hit, and then the second.

She had expected death, if it had been her it would have been blaster bolts that flew her way, but as she felt her body going numb and consciousness begin to fade, she realized it was just stun bolts. A captive then, unless the man was even more brutal than he had shown himself to be in those few moments and decided to execute her after the fact. Even as her consciousness faded she began thinking of what to do next. She would not live in a cage, not again.

Bringing his stun blaster was the right call it seemed.

Most people didn't expect stun bolts so the instincts of most people were tuned to blaster bolts. Stun bolts looked different so often it took a second longer to realise what was going on. Seemed that the enemy Force user was, indeed, one of those people. Or perhaps luck had merely been on his side?

Eddard wasn't above taking advantage of lady luck after all.

The woman went down, stunned, and Eddard made his way over to her cautiously. He waited until she was out cold before he searched her, removing all of her weapons and items on her person before snapping her hands into a set of handcuffs behind her back. She was still stunned but he was paranoid about her getting out so he made sure to double it all up.

With that done, he picked her up using the Force and began to carry her back to his shuttle.

Time to bring her in for some questioning.
