She hadn’t gotten used to Ossus.

It was a big adjustment - the whole layout was different, it wasn’t up-to-date with some of the technology they needed, some of the fixtures needed to be rehauled. It wasn’t that she was spoiled back at the Temple, it was just that, for her occupation, she needed to have access to technology that kept up with as much as possible and could access as much as possible.

When you’re a Jedi Investigator, you need all the information you could get. And she couldn’t get it here.

Fortunately there were already some Jedi here so the directory and information was intact, but it was vastly inferior to the much more detailed and precise files at the Temple. They’d managed to keep the files on several copies they’d managed to bring with them - many of the files were quite important and could be damaging if the Bogan got a hold of them. However, the technology here was not so they could hold it all. They were still working on it.

Kriff the Bogan. Kriff ‘em.

Now was the time more than any other that she was needed. They couldn’t afford to let any more fall to their ranks, or even to just go rogue. We needed all we could get, and we needed to survive.

That’s why she was here. Her occupation within the ranks was to find any Jedi that might have gone rogue, and, if they had, capture them, and bring them back so they could be turned back. If they would not be captured, if they turned hostile, she was given license to execute them.

Yes, things had gotten bad. Very bad. Things were tense after the fall of the Temple, many were on edge, suspicious. Suspicion breeds fear. Fear had a tendency to lead to...other things. Irrational things.

Ilyena, her job was to be suspicious, so she only had to be careful that it didn’t turn to fear, keep it under control. She just had to be detached, aloof, yet determined. Fortunately, these weren’t difficult for her. Determination was probably one of the things she had too much of.

Not that she was against the execution of rogues. Too often the Jedi were too soft on those determined to go against us, and now the Temple was destroyed. She wasn’t too fond of mercy. She never had been. Now?

Now we couldn’t afford mercy.

If we could capture them, fine, we could do that. Turning them would be a wonderful thing to be able to do. But if not?

Well, that was why she was one of the better duelists there were.

She wouldn’t say the best. No, not the best. But she was good, and she knew it.

Part of it had to do with her unorthodox style and choice of weapon, a lightsaber gauntlet worn on her right arm. As had all those past Knighthood, she’d created her lightsaber herself, in this case, her gauntlet, though she’d had to consult more tech-savvy to make sure it all would work and fit. The gauntlet was part of armor worn all along her right forearm. The gauntlet part, however, where the two lightsabers were worn, was normally worn over the back of her hand, but was, at the moment, pushed back as she didn’t need it now. It was hidden under one of the armor plates to make it look as if she was just wearing armor - a vambrace and spaulder. So it didn’t look too awkward, two pauldrons were worn as part of her Jedi attire, both on her right arm, one at her shoulder, and one that hung lower down. All were made of metal, not too heavy, but it wasn’t horribly light, either. If she needed the gauntlet, she could use her powers to slide the gauntlet mechanism up the brace up to her wrist and lock it, where she could then move it freely and activate the twin sabers. This allowed her to look more as if she was more into defense than offense and made her appear weaponless.

Useful, but totally untrue.

She knew of only one other person that wore their gauntlet similar to herself, which was where she had gotten the idea.

Her Jedi outfit was of a slightly more burnt tint, a bit darker and with a red tinge, with a firebrick red undershirt and armor. If it were darker, it would match her auburn hair.

But whatever. That didn’t matter. What mattered now was that she was supposed to meet someone, the Knight or whatever that were supposed to go with her. She was waiting in one of the larger rooms, one with an intricate fountain adorning the center and trees planet all about. No doubt either an attempt to copy the Room of a Thousand Fountains or the inspiration for it. There were plenty of Jedi milling about, so she had to be on the lookout for her quarry. All she knew was that his name was Dashiell Weulf. As he wasn’t someone important, the Ossus records didn’t have his picture on file. Apparently, you had to be studying here or a Master or higher to have your mug on file, and even then she wasn’t on file. She supposed it was because of her occupation, it would be better if the Jedi didn’t know what she looked like. It wasn’t like she was seen around a lot, her occupation kept her away often.

She sighed.

All she knew from asking a few people was that he had “nice blue eyes.” How helpful.

Well, at least she had time to focus on her mission. Her mission. Khoref Snow was a female Felecatian of Felecat. She is an empath, capable, with training, of highly effective battle meditation and known for being strong-willed and and “utterly dedicated to the Jedi way.” Aren’t they all.

Khoref was up for Knighthood and thus was attempting to complete her Trials, specifically the Trial of Spirit. To this end, she had visited the temperate rainforest planet of Malrev IV, a planet known for its pulsating Force powers, supposedly dark energies. Malrev IV is the fourth planet of the Malrev system of the Thrasybule sector near the Outer Rim Territories.

Well, apparently either the Trial of Spirit got to Khoref or the wildlife did, because she left about a little less than a month ago and nothing has been heard of her since. Because of the situation and the dark side energies believed to be flowing through the planet, she’d been called in. She and this blue-eyed Weulf.

Well, she had work to do. She just hoped he’d show up soon. She’d gotten clearance for the vehicle and had the course preset in its maps, they just had to make sure they had everything and leave. Yes, she was early in waiting for him, she’d just hoped that he was, too, so they could get on with it. All she knew was that he’d better not be horribly late. She wasn’t patient with people.

OOC: My b, b. I've been really busy.

IC:

Dashiell Weulf was what one would call a 'rising star' among the Jedi of the Order. Weulf had accomplished much since overcoming his trials and becoming a Knight, including currying the favour of many news stations within local space clusters. He was a hero to the few civilians back on Ord Mantell, and many had heard of his exploits on Hoth and even Coruscant. But through it all, the young Knight had retained his humility. Sort of.

Ossus was the closest thing Weulf had to a home world, and so he visited the Jedi temple there as often as he could. It was there that he had first met Enzo Amyntas, his best friend, as well as their former master, Yodo. It would have made their master proud to see how far the two of them had come, how much they had achieved.

Weulf was to meet the Jedi Master who would accompany him on his latest mission in the atrium of the temple. Ilyena Rada, he was told. Dashiell hoped she was laid back and would allow him to breathe. Too many times the council had tried to push him into doing things their way, bogging him down with protocol and procedure, and most of the time he managed to give them the slip and get right to action. It was harder to do that when they sent a tag-along master to keep an eye on him. He was not sure if that was what the council was up to this time or if the mission itself would warrant more than one agent. That was the thing about this mission, the details were strangely lacking. All Dashiell knew was that a Jedi had gone missing.

He stepped into the familiar atrium, with its water fountain sprinkling just as it was when he had last been planet-side. He was wearing his usual garb today, nothing too fancy, just the regulation robes of the Order, though he had added some of his personality to them. Here and there were splashes of colour, a little purple on the sleeves, some gold trimming down the shoulders, and of course an intricately-made belt with a buckle in the shape of a handsome wolf's head.

Almost at once Dashiell spotted the master the council had sent for him. He knew it had to be her, as she seemed so out of place among the other Jedi walking about, especially since they all had a purpose and were going some place else, whereas Ilyena just stood waiting. He was surprised. It had been a long time since the council had sent a woman such as this to accompany him on any mission. Beautiful, simply beautiful. Maybe they thought this would keep him attentive? They were right.

"Master Rada, I presume?" he asked with a smile before flourishing and bowing slightly. This could prove interesting.

She'd resorted to leaning against the wall, legs and arms crossed as she waited. It was still early, it was just less early than before.

She sighed as she continued to look out among the people buzzing to and fro around her, scanning for anyone who happened to be scanning for her. She began to wonder where he was, but reminded herself that it was still early for them to leave.

At last however, came a prospect. He seemed to be looking for someone and, upon finding her, seemed to think she was it. Well, he did have blue eyes. He looked about her age, so at least she wasn't stuck with some Paddy fresh from the ceremony. She wasn't good at babysitting. As he walked over she bothered to give him a quick look up and down. He wasn't hard on the eyes, at least, and it seemed he also had personality. Fair enough. She didn't like working with robots, either. Or uptight people. When you're going after people as dangerous as rogue Jedi, you had to be willing to bend a few rules. It wasn't a preference, she wanted to keep as far away from the dark as she could lest she herself go rogue. Especially since she'd recieved her taint. But sometimes there were exceptions.

Hm. She thought upon catching a glimpse of his belt. Herself, she thought it was a bit much, but she didn't think she could talk much concidering her armor. That didn't change the fact that it was a very bad pun.

She also noticed that there was no hilt adorning his belt. He'd better have one to use or else he's likely to get sliced open in the event of...complications. Not to mention she'd have to be stuck defending him. Not that she couldn't do it, but it would be annoying.

She cocked her eyebrow a bit at his bow, she could safely say she wasn't expecting that. Whatever, maybe he was recently employed under royalty and had gotten used to it.

"Weulf?" she said, straightening herself. Yes, this must be him, and he was early. That gave him added promise. "Very good," she said, taking on a more official stance. "I trust you have been briefed. Any further details are here," she said, handing him a datapad. "We are docked in hangar 2, dock 7D. The engines are warming. I trust you have a weapon, please retrieve it before we leave. I shall meet you at the dock and prepare for clearance. So I know better what to put you to use for, you might want to inform me of any talents of yours." She hated wasted talent, and if he had any peculiar abilities, she wanted to know. They might prove useful.

((I know Dash has his weapon, she just doesn't think to look for it anywhere but his belt or arm. Just FYI. ;)))

The angle trick still works. Dashiell Weulf did indeed have a weapon, and it was with him, strapped to his back. It was a lightsaber of an odd design used none too often by the Jedi, made to look and function like a short staff, with a full length violet blade that sprouted from one end when the internal switch was flicked on with a slight touch from the Force. It was a design that the young Knight had mastered, perfecting his own modified version of Form III. With that lightsaber, Weulf was a force to be reckoned with. Even Jedi Masters were impressed with his skill and finesse.

"I have a weapon." With one hand Dashiell reached behind his back, unclipped the staff from its strap and brought it forward. He then gave it a quick spin and tapped the emitter on the floor just once, threw it up and caught it.

He had had the lightsaber since his early days as an apprentice, years ago, and it had served him well. Other Jedi relied too heavily on the Force, and while Dashiell understood the Force was a powerful ally and could get one out of many tough situations, he was much more at home meeting his challenges head on with a laser sword in his hands than anything else. It did not help that his skills in that area were rather lacking compared to, say, Enzo's Force abilities. It did not bother him too much though, Dashiell's lightsaber was like an extension of his body, so he was damned good at wielding it.

"After you," he said, gesturing ahead with the staff.

Ilyena watched the spectacle for a minute, noticeing that he hadn't really answered the question. Or maybe he had and lightsaber combat was all he was good for.

Sigh.

Okay, so the dude was basically her muscle. Not that she needed help when it came to combat, but it was always nice to have someone else around to do it should it need doing. As long as he was good. Well, if it was all he was good for, he'd better be.

She straightened. "Very well," she said, turning smartly and taking long, quick strides over to the dock. Fortunately, this mission being on a forested planet, any ship of any size would be easily detected with anyone with primitive equipment - it would be the only thing flying around. This in mind, being covert was not a limitation, and they were allowed a fairly luxurious ship, all things considered. She'd been on much worse. It wasn't huge, not like a yacht, but it wasn't a junker, either. It had everything they might need, a sparring room, and a very nice medical bay. She'd found use for good medical bays before and knew when a med bay was a piece of junk. Thus, she had requested one with a good one. However, like all missions such as these, about halfway through the mission you find out something you'd requested hadn't been put on the ship.

So...

"There she is," she said, pointing to the ship before climbing aboard. As soon as Weulf boarded, she handed him a datapad with a list on it. "This is a list of all the stuff we might need, make sure it's all here," she said before walking up to the cockpit. She didn't know if he was a competent pilot - she was sure she'd find out more about him later, it was a long flight - so she was going ahead to get clearance and take off to the hyperspace point and engage. That shouldn't take but twenty minutes to get clearance, which was longer than it would take to check the inventory just in case they needed to pack anything else real quick. After they'd taken off, she could finally see what this Weulf was like, after all, she was stuck with him for...what, four days?

He'd better not be annoying.
