Tyrus entered the Jedi archives. He had signed up for the upcoming Jedi Ladder Tournament, but so far he had little knowledge of lightsaber combat. He intended to some of the time until the tournament to remedy this, so be began searching for an appropriate holocron.

Finding one named "Lightsaber Forms", which appeared to require no partner, he went to an unoccupied training room, shutting the door behind him and ignoring the light switch; the amount of light in the room made no difference to him. He sat down with crossed legs, placing his borrowed training lightsaber on the floor next to him, and activated the holocron. A Jedi master unknown to Tyrus appeared over the holocron and began speaking.

"You have selected the holocron 'Lightsaber Forms'. This contains information on the seven classic forms, as well as Form Zero and other unorthodox forms. The first and most important form is Form Zero. This is more a principle than a form to be used in combat, and is the idea that sometimes lightsabers need not be used - alternate methods of overcoming a problem can be found. Sometimes even the sight of an unignited lightsaber can be enough to cause individuals that might be potential enemies to become more cooperative.
"The seven classic forms are Shii-Cho, way of the Sarlacc, Makashi, way of the Ysalmir, Soresu, way of the Mynock, Ataru, way of the Hawk-bat, Shien/Djem So, way of the Krayt Dragon, Niman, way of the rancor and Juyo/Vaapad, way of the Vornskr. Which do you wish to learn more about?"

Tyrus had already looked into the seven classic forms a little and had an idea of which was best suited to him. He would learn more fully about the others in time, but for now he would focus on the one.

"Soresu, please"

The master continued.

“Soresu is the most defensive of the seven forms. It utilizes tight moves, subtle dodges and short sweeps to provide maximum defensive coverage, leaving one less exposed to ranged fire, and able to wear down opponents until their own defense lapses.
"There are several basic positions used in Soresu. The first is the opening stance. Please turn on your training saber."

Tyrus placed the holocron on the floor and stood, reaching out to the saber lying on the floor, attempting to pull it to him with the force. Nothing happened at first, then the saber tipped itself up onto one end, and slowly rose into his hand. He ignited it and focused back on the holocron.

"In this stance the dominant hand is held back, along with the dominant foot. The blade should be angled forward, parallel to the opposing arm. Try this now."

Tyrus shifted into the stance, the blade passing close to his right cheek.

"Good. The next position is the brace-ready stance. Hold your lightsaber in a two handed grip on your dominant side, with the blade vertical, and move your dominant foot back and your other foot forward and to the side."

Tyrus moved from the opening stance into the brace-ready stance, holding the saber a short distance away from his right hip.

"Well done. Do you wish to learn more?"

Tyrus spent the next half hour practicing different stances, blocks and attacks that were part of Soresu, as well as looking at a few other techniques to aid him in battle, before deactivating the holocron. The tournament was on the Will of The Force in five days, and he had a lot of work to do. He left the training room and began to look for a sparring partner.

X'jan ran down the hall towards the training room, where he had heard Tyrus, the kid from Coruscant, was with the lighsaber forms holocron.
"Tyrus!" X'jan called, seeing him leave the room, "I heard you had the holocron for lightsaber forms."
X'jan, noticing the holocron, did his best to use the force and pull it towards him. This resulted in the holocron flying from Tyrus' hand towards X'jan, which the fumbled and finally caught.

Tyrus chuckled softly at his fellow padawan's impulsiveness.

"X'jan, good to see you again. Feel free to use that holocron." He said, smiling wryly. "Hey, after you're done, how about we spar a little?"

Tyrus turned and re-entered the room in front of X'jan. While the other padawan used the holocron, he practiced his force techniques, carefully levitating his lightsaber in the air in front of him before smoothly returning it to his hand. Pleasingly, he found this easier than before. When X'jan was finished, Tyrus spoke.

"Shall we go and find a more suitable room to spar in?"

X'jan followed Tyrus into the room, switching on the light as he went. X'jan decided one of the next things he'd learn about was Force Sight. It seemed useful. He got out his borrowed training lightsaber, wondering how long it would be till he bother to get his own.
Activating the holocron, X'jan got it to give him a brief description of the seven forms, and he decided Djem So sounded most worth-while. After all, chances were that whenever he had to fight it would be with either a Sith, Jedi (In spars like with Tyrus), or people with blasters. Djem So sounded effective against all of the above.
So X'jan spent a bit more than half an hour practicing all the basics that the holocron could give him, as well as a bit of practicing using the force. When he had used it on the holocron, that had just been embarrassing.
Once he was done, he answered Tyrus question with a yes, and allowed him to lead the way. X'jan didn't exactly know his way around Tython yet, in fact, he was lucky enough to find the training room.
