DESCRIPTION​

The Livien Cutter is a pattern of warship which was first developed in the Tion Cluster by starshipwrights of the ancient Livien League. Although they predate the empire of Xim the Despot, they became one of the most important ships in his navy after he absorbed the Livien League in a rare peaceful assimilation; it is believed that thousands of Livien Cutters served as pickets and skirmishers within Xim's fleet, alongside Cronese Battlebirds and other light warships.

The Livien Cutter is roughly equivalent to a light frigate under the definitions of the Anaxes War College System. 250 meters in length, the ship is crewed by 400 personnel, carries 150 passengers - generally marines or other military personnel for use in executing or repelling boarding actions - and has space for up to 1,500 tons of cargo. Weapons consist of beam-tube artillery cannons, including 2 fixed guns in the wings and 2 each in twin anti-aerospace turrets, roughly equivalent to heavy and medium laser cannons, respectively. There is also a large single torpedo launcher, located just above the bridge. Top speed is 50 MGLT under fuel slug rocket propulsion, and the Livien Cutter has a class 8 hyperdrive, quite fast for its day. The craft predates modern deflector screens, and relied on its reflective kiirium armor plating for protection against weapons of its day, hardly a viable strategy in the present.

Livien Cutters are generally no longer found in military service, owing to their extreme age and obsolescence. Alongside the Nimiety-class galleon, the Livien Cutter has entered the public imagination as the stereotypical pirate ship, inspired by the fact that after Xim's empire began to collapse, unpaid Livien Cutter crews commonly turned to piracy in order to survive. Generally, any examples seen outside a museum, private collection or wreck site are modern replicas built for the holodrama industry.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Livien Cutters are classified as small capital ships under Galactic law. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

RESTRICTIONS​

Livien Cutters are capital ships, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. These vessels may be used as faction assets, or can be operated by a group of at least 3 player characters who work together regularly.
