Imperial Mission

Looting Has Begun

The opportunities provided by the attack on the city's power grid are too numerous to ignore. Weechee has sent a small task force to capture and hold a critical trade supply warehouse in the city. If the Old Empire intends to hold Null long enough to establish supply lines and garrison the world, they must make sure that the forces that will hold the world until that time are well supplied from local caches.

The team operating at the supply warehouse must figure out a way through the building's security, already partially disabled by the blackout, and sweep through the building. They must assume control but not damage any of the critical supplies that are housed here. Stealth and discretion are key. Pick targets wisely and kill cleanly. It would unwise to telegraph Old Empire intentions for Null by revealing their operations in this part of the city.

OK guys. Friendly reminder that all OPEN/PVP threads that do not receive PC opposition within 72 hours of posting will be changed to ASK and become dice opposition. Also please note that I would like this plot to move quickly. Players are encouraged to try and post as quickly as they can and if a player delays longer than 48 hours they will be skipped, regardless of the situation.

The black-out was already creating uncertainty and chaos on the streets of Null, but wherever Breda and his companion went people seemed to halt for a look. Breda was wearing Enforcer heavy armor, with his lightsaber hidden on his belt underneath his cape and the Pugio Blaster pistol in full sight in a holster on his upper right leg. Civilians weren't stopping to look because he was an Old Empire enforcer, though, since Breda had been thorough in his prep work and painted over the crimson accentuation with regal purple, making his own armor look identical to that of the Imperial Republica.

"Ridas-" he spoke as they approached the warehouse's main entrance, "-don't screw this up." Breda was wary of other acolytes and their tendency to use the Force in situations where it was least needed. To make their warehouse takeover perfectly clean they could do without having to betray their sensitivity to the Force. People usually get carried away when they do and their whole ruse would fall apart.

Entering the warehouse as if he owned it, the Imperial Republica enforcer Breda was masquerading as, walked straight up to the clerk. The human wore a low-rank Imperial uniform that ill-fitted around his shoulders, probably because he lost muscle tissue since leaving basic training. He also seemed agitated, as if the black-out had interrupted an episode of his favorite HoloNet show.

His mood quickly changed when he spotted the enforcer and he jumped from his chair and into some form of attention."Situation report," Breda said in his serious militaristic voice that suited a Serenno aristocrat. "T-the power's out."

Kriff this guy had a talent for stating the obvious. Breda turned his head towards Ridas (@Spaceboi), meaning it was now his turn to speak and pry out all the information they needed. Heck, if they were lucky they could "officially assume control of the warehouse." Big republican who would try and take it from them.

The reaction to the black out came almost instantly to the area where Ridas now stood. There was certainly not panic among the citizens of Null yet, but uncertainty was painted on the faces of those who weaved in and out of the surrounding buildings, nervously trying to determine if only their home or shop had gone dark. The power outage was of course far more wide spread than any of the people around him would have guessed. With the area going dark, Ridas knew that the first step of the plan for the True Empire to get a foothold on Null was complete, and now it was up to himself and his companion to secure supplies for their future here.

Ridas Kovro strode forward confidently with his fellow Sith. The Zabrak was wearing his armored robes, but his hood was down and his shaved, horned head was out in the open as if he had nothing to hide. He had adorned some of the plating with he purple marking of a member of the Imperial Republica and wore his blaster out on the open on his right leg. His lightsaber was tucked away in his cloak to complete the façade of the pair not being Sith at all, let alone members of the Old Empire. Ridas raised an eyebrow and let out a quiet scoff as his partner pleaded with him not to make a mistake. “You need not worry about me making a mistake. I will follow your lead as you are accustomed to, Breda.” He did not attempt to hide the slightly mocking tone in his voice as the duo strode forward into the warehouse.

The building was mostly dark thanks to the black out caused by their allies, but upon entering Ridas noticed that there were still some lights on throughout the structure. A backup generator perhaps…The thought slipped through his mind as his armor clad companion walked right up to a clerk in a low ranking uniform of the false empire. He sprung to attention as a report was demanded, but his response left Ridas wanted to gawk. The false empire truly was falling apart of that was all the explanation that could be mustered by the young man. Breda looked toward the Zabrak expecting him to continue, and so the Sith obliged.

“I see,” the Zabrak said slowly, as if he had to process the information. “Just as we were told. We were sent to check out the area due to the black out reports. We are part of a team ensuring that security is still functional in the affected warehouses on behalf of the Imperial Republica.” The Sith paused again, glancing around the building and stepping forward to be closer to the man. “What is the status of the security systems? Is all still well here?” The nervous man took a step back as Ridas approached, his eyes darting between the two Sith unsure of who to fear more. Ultimately, his eyes fell on Breda in his heavy armor and he decided to address him directly despite the helmet. “Our automated systems are down. The backup generator that we have only supports a few lights and some of the security doors. But we still have the regular guards on staff so we should be able to handle ourselves until the power comes back on.”

Ridas stepped back from the man, giving him a little bit more breathing room before he replied. “That’s good to hear. Were it up to be the inspection would be complete, but my partner may insist on a more thorough examination in order to ensure the correct measures of protection are in place.” The Zabrak slowly turned his gaze to his partner (@Ecclessey ) and waited for him to continue. Their way in was clear now. All they had to do was hope that the staff here were either as foolish as this young man or as weak as him. Either way, the warehouse would be theirs in no time.

Valar Dohaeris wasn't a suspicious man but one thing he did know was that he really didn't like the dark when it was due to issues with the power. He had seen that a few times recently and he really didn't like to think that the Imperial Republica had systems as bad as all that. But it did mean that he got to enjoy the darkness of the night as he was sent to inspect a warehouse of supplies that was on his list of duties.

It was usually rather boring a duty - lot of busy work - but sometimes it wasn't. Sometimes he got to enjoy a nice conversation with the guards and this particular warehouse was said to have nice coffee. Officially he was supposed to leave this warehouse until the end but there was nothing wrong with stopping by here early for some coffee now was there?

Pulling up across the road to the entrance of the warehouse in his speeder, Valar frowned a little bit when he noticed two other Sith were already here. Where they here for the coffee too?

Were they here for the coffee too?

He wanted that coffee god damn it - it was a sugary sweet treat to keep him perky and happy after all! The other Sith went inside and Valar stepped out of his speeder and checked his lightsaber hadn't dropped again or something stupid. Confirming he was armed as per usual and in his marauder armour, Valar decided that it was time for him to get his coffee.

The power being out here would mean he'd have to grab the beans and take them somewhere else but he could live with that.

He started to approach the warehouse main entrance.

Pierce followed shortly behind him. With both of his lightsabers, an extra clip for his blaster and two frag grenades tucked under his usual armor, the Sith Acolyte moved quietly and stealthily. His presence in the Force was pulled under his skin but continued to grow with every passing second, ready for something to pounce out of nowhere. However, he remained on the same level of uncertainty as Valar. There were two unfamiliar figures entering the warehouse, and while Imperial in appearance, it went without saying that Pierce kept an eye out. A part of him doubted it was anything important. Likely reinforcements. Little did he know the truth of the situation, and the battle he was about to walk into.

Breda remained unmoving while Ridas toyed around with the guard and only gave any sign of life when the Zabrak turned his gaze towards him, "Lock the warehouse down, no one goes in or out-" the Serenno-born human said in his militaristic voice before turning to Ridas, "Command isn't taking any chances this close to the Mandalore Sector." That should be enough explanation for the guard or anyone that was walking in at that very moment. Truthfully, with Elix the Fifth's proclamation against a single Mandalorian clan, such a high bounty, most people were scared living on worlds this close to these brutish raiders. A power outage of this size, one that affected command so they can't receive or send messages across the communication grid anymore? Kriff, it played exactly into the Mandalorian's hands.

That was the logic, anyway-

It also playing into the hands of Darth Vrael was less obvious, for that old coot and his Korriban desert-stroke hadn't stretched a finger towards the Republica despite declaring himself Emperor. Even Breda, who was in the employ of that same old coot, had a low opinion of the so-called 'ruler by strength'. Therefore his role as Republica Enforcer suited him better than he would have liked to admit.

Finally turning back to the guard he said, "We need to do a visual check on the security panel. Take us to it."

Though the Zabrak would never admit it, he was impressed with the tone that his companion took with the warehouse supervisor. The militaristic nature left no room for doubt. His orders were not suggestions; they were orders form someone in a position of authority. The way that this young man was reacting to their presence, combined with that tone would certainly mean that their new subordinate would obey to the best of his ability. That, combined with the quick thinking explanation provided by Breda elicited a curt nod from Ridas as he glanced over his shoulder to see if any of the staff near them would react to the order.

Much to his surprise, he did not see staff members near the front entrance of the warehouse, but rather a pair of individuals that caused a brief chill to run down his spine. Both of the people wore the masks and armor of the Sith that he recognized from back on Korriban. They was no doubt that they were two Sith, much like Ridas and his partner. Though the difference was that they were probably supposed to be present whereas the two Sith of the Old Empire were now caught between false Sith of the Imperial Repiblica and the security of the warehouse. Not wanting to appear like he was nervous, Ridas turned his head back to the clerk as if he hadn’t noticed the pair in the entranceway.

Ridas slowly let the breath out of his lungs as he turned back to hear the final demand made by his companion. There was no reason to panic just yet. The clerk still seemed nervous, though his eyes darted to the newcomers behind Ridas and Breda every so often. But the Old Empire Sith were disguised, and unless that disguise fell apart for whatever reason, the mission could proceed. Even so, Ridas was prepared to draw his saber from its hiding place the instant something went awry. “Come on then,” Ridas said calmly to the clerk in the Imperial uniform. “Let’s get this over with so we can all go back to doing our jobs.” With a calm smile, Ridas walked forward, hoping that the clerk would follow and the Sith would leave him and Breda alone. The clerk nodded once again, uttering a quiet agreement before stepping past Ridas and beginning to lead them deeper into the warehouse.

The battle he was about to walk into seemed to be nothing at all. Although the two strangers were unfamiliar to him and Pierce maintained his skepticism, they came off as only another pair of aimless soldiers of the Imperial Republica. As tempted as he was to push questions or a conversation, the Sith Acolyte opted to allow his counterpart to do so. Instead, he lingered a meter behind him, idling in his shadow with open eyes and ready hands. His lightsabers ached for battle but were upset to find just nobodies. For now. Whatever his partner Valar decided to do, however, he was willing to do the same too. Pierce had become something akin to an extension of the other Sith.

Was Valar suspicious of the other Sith? Maybe but no more than he was suspicious about any other Sith. It was just in the nature of the Sith to be wary of each other so when he entered the warehouse, his ally walking with him a meter or so behind him, he had his hands on his hips, resting on top of both of his lightsabers.

When he spoke first it wasn't to the other Sith - it was to the Clerk.

"Jasta! You handing out coffee to every Sith now? I thought I was special!"

The clerk relaxed slightly upon seeing him before shaking his head.

"Nothing like that - these men want to see the security panel."

His grip on his lightsabers tightened slightly but he didn't draw them just yet. Sure it was strange for two Sith he'd never seem before to be doing the security rounds... actually that was just it. And he had just wanted a coffee.

"You got names?"

It was strange that some random Sith Enforcer would go to interrupt another Sith Enforcer, of who there were tens of thousands, as the latter was just doing his job. Still, Breda knew that he had nothing to worry about- since the Imperial Republica Sith weren't like those in the Old Empire and if they attacked without cause there'd be hell to pay. As such, Breda simply turned towards them. "Elix Lorso-" he replied, "-Imperial Enforcer of second Null regiment." his head turned slightly towards Rida, him being a Zabrak meant he ought to be careful to note that he was appointed a rather low-tier and embarrassing role in the Null defense force or the newcomers might become suspicious. Ofcourse, two could play the newcomer's game:

"You got a name, so I know who to report for dereliction of duty?" his words were harsh, but he couldn't believe the gall of another enforcer going to get coffee in the middle of a giant black-out that shut off comms with headquarters. "All unassigned personnel reports to the base in case of emergencies like a black-out." He motioned for the clerk to continue his walking, "Which is where we were told to check the security warehouse, and you-" he said with the authority of a man accustomed to have it, something a naval academy graduate would recognize, "-will get your assignment handed to you."

The sudden interruption by the newcomers was actually welcome by Ridas. As one of the Sith called out to the clerk – a man who apparently know the new arrival well – the Zabrak turned with his partner. It was a relief to now have to pretend that he did not know they were there. He had wanted to warn his associate somehow, but anything he would have done could have set them off in an instant. Instead, the four men now faced each other, a calm smile on Ridas; face as he watched the exchange between Breda and the unnamed Sith.

Ridas nodded slightly as his companion introduced himself with a false name and rank from the Imperial Forces on Null. Ridas did not hesitate when Breda turned toward him. He kept a calm composure and stood at a straighter attention in the presence of the two men who were obviously force sensitive Sith formt heir attire. Ridas stood with his feet a shoulder width apart and clasped his hands together behind his back in an at ease position. It put his hands closer to his lightsaber as well, though the newcomers could have no way of knowing. “And I am First Lieutenant Dorun Kaas of the Null Planetary Security.” The rank was that of someone who was part of the planetary government rather than the Imperial Republica as a whole. Thanks to the power outage it would be very difficult for the Sith to confirm his position and it was also believable that he would be working alongside the Republica during a situation like this one. Even so, as a Zabrak he did not want to interject too much to the discussion between the Sith and his associate. It would not be proper in Repubica space.

Breda continued with his aggressive tactics toward the Sith who had spoken, and Ridas simply stood in place, waiting for something to go wrong. His saber hand flexed slowly behind his back as he readied himself to draw at any moment. He was not sure if he agreed with Breda’s aggressive approach to the situation, but there was nothing he could do now. Instead he allowed his gaze to float back to the Sith that had remained silent this entire time. He seemed to be far less inclined to engage in the conversation, and instead looked like he was almost bored with he situation. He waited patiently, just like Ridas did for something to happen that was out of the ordinary.

After a moment or two, the Zabrak’s eyes drifted back to the clerk, Jasta, to see what his next move would be. The clerk simply stood there, waiting to see who would take control of the situation and whose orders to follow. Ridas nodded slowly to himself and turned back toward the pair of men that whose conversation was beginning to heat up…

Valar smiled beneath his marauder's mask as the two of them gave their names. He didn't honestly care if they were telling the truth or not - but the simple matter was that they weren't on the emergency response list he'd had drilled into his head every day since he had arrived here. He began to build up the Force within himself, preparing.

"Valar Dohaeris - assigned to check warehouses and stores like this." he replied back bluntly, "And your names aren't on the emergency response list last time I checked."

His hands gripped his lightsabers fully now, pulling them from his belt (not igniting them), openly signalling that he was through playing games. If the other two men wanted to leave now? He wouldn't do anything to stop them. Looting during an attack was... well it was regrettable but it was hardly the first time it had occurred. If they were something more than the typical corrupt members of the planetary government forces? He would no extend the same tolerance.

Either way, even before he spoke he had his senses trained on the two of them, preparing to spring into action.

Who did this kriffer think he was? Memorized a list over a thousand names of troopers who would be put on extra duty in case of an emergency? Doesn't he realize that there's tens of thousands of troopers on Null and no one would be allowed R&R in case of an emergency? If this kriffer had actually done what he said he did he'd have lost literal months memorizing an ever-changing list of names he would never in a million years have to use. If Breda had been an officer in the Republica he'd have this guy om bread and water and restricted to barracks duty for his foolish lies and moronic level of arrogance.

Instead, the Sith Enforcer Breda was masquerading as stood unmoving for a second. "We're not emergency response, simply reassigned at the end of our duty task." Which was what he had already said, before the Sith enforcer with his marauder mask said he wasn't on a list he didn't claim to be on.

He then turned to the clerk and made motion to continue with his ordered task. "Either join the inspection or go to the next warehouse. Command doesn't like it when we idle."

Turning his back to the two newcomers, the arrogant one and the mute, Breda and the clerk started to walk to the control room with the securty panel.

Valar didn't really believe the man who spoke but he supposed he didn't really have to believe him - the proof would be in what he actually did. He smiled a little bit before humming a little bit. It wasn't exactly grounds to stab the man but then he never intended to stab the man over nothing.

Instead he just nodded.

"Many hands make light the work." He agreed, falling into step behind Breda and the clerk by a few steps, "And there's no reason for us not to work together after all."

He was supposed to make sure the warehouses were well supplied and prepared after all.

"Pierce, you want to check the other side with the xeno?"

It was a suggestion only of course - Valar held no command over Pierce - but it was part of their duties on their world and, well, many hands made light the work.

"So how did you come to be working with the Xeno, Enforcer Lorso?"

The sharp and relentless conversation between Valar and the unfamiliar Sith was something to behold. Although, for Pierce, not in the best way. In spite of his extreme paranoia and prejudice, he personally believed the two strangers were likely reinforcements. No man in their right mind would have the confidence and finesse to threaten and size up a similarly intimidating Sith Acolyte. That was only asking for a fight. Still, the Imperial Enforcer did it regardless. He had balls, and Pierce respected him for it. He had to be honest, Valar was being a little too extreme for his taste.

Not that he tried to step into the argument, and neither did Elix Lorso’s partner. He was a Zabrak, a xeno, something not welcome within the Imperial Republica, but Pierce understood there were always exceptions being made. As long as they could prove their worth and mettle, who or what they were ultimately did not matter. While Pierce did maintain some xenophobic tendencies, natural for anyone of noble blood, he did not feel it as strongly as his counterparts.

Either way, he nodded at Valar’s request and quietly motioned for the First Lieutenant to follow him around the back. He imagined the pair would only walk around and inspect the warehouse. Nothing more, nothing less. After that, Pierce could return to some actually important duties.

The sharp back and forth between the Sith arrival and Ridas’ partner was concerning to say the least. Laying low would have been a better in the Zabrak’s mind. But he had willingly given Breda the lead, so now he had to deal with the repercussions of the decision. Even though he was committed to this course of action, he was growing more and more uncomfortable with the situation. There was even a moment where he felt the Dark Side of the Force well up in the Sith that was directly confronting the Sith of the Old Empire. He held his lightsabers openly in his hands and looked as though he would ignite them at a moment’s notice. His arguments for why he was acting like that were…interesting to say the least, but Ridas was beginning to believe that this man was simply looking for a fight. But the Zabrak would not give him one; it was not his place. That role was being handled fully by his companion, who was wasting no time getting up in the man’s masked face and protesting his assumptions, even if they were true.

Eventually, the more talkative Sith seemed to calm himself and fall in step behind Breda as they moved to inspect the security. Unfortunately, his calm also came with a suggestion that Ridas did not think he could disagree with. He was trying to split up Ridas and Breda, that much was clear. Though his motives were not. Regardless, he did not have much of a choice as the silent Sith nodded and moved to step toward the other side of the warehouse. Ridas’ pupil-less eyes flickered toward Breda for a brief moment before he bowed to address his “superior.” “Of course, my Lord,” the Zabrak said as he fell in step behind the silent Sith. Before too long, the two dark side users were alone, walking though the aisles of shelving full of supplies that would be invaluable to the Old Empire once they set up on the surface of Null. He followed the Sith quietly, prepared to defend himself if there was an ambush but outwardly appearing to be completing an inspection, as he said he was going to. The Two group would eventually meet at the security office at the back of the warehouse; by that time, he hoped that the newcomers would simply walk away.

As such it happened that the two Old Empire Sith were split up, each continuing the tour of the shut-down warehouse with their new partners. Breda knew he had drawn the short straw with the man that accompanied him, because the Marauder armor betrayed Force-sensitivity and Breda's enforcer attire did not. It was the ruse that made him more vulnerable if they were to come to blows, considering that as he started slowly building up to Force he had to be careful for it not to get noticed. His new partner seemed the unnaturally paranoid type as well, seeing and preparing for all of his fellow republica soldiers to be enemies. Typical, Breda then surmised, since it was this kind of paranoid behavior that had thinned down their prowess, forced their military skills to rust and greatly diminished their strength to a point where their Empire was run by children that refused sound council.

Not even House Palerma, greatly impoverished in the last centuries, but have stooped so low and so far from their ancestral rights to allow humiliation by the hands of the boy-and-girl-Emperors. No, Breda concluded his line of perfectly objective observational thought, thinking that whoever the marauder was he'd not be a match for him in a classic duel.

When Breda and Valar (@Nefieslab) finally reached the room with the security panel, they found it empty. "Go and lock down the warehouse-" Breda told the clerk, who was still accompanying them at this point, and then watched him nod and run off, before turning to Valar- "-I'm taking the panel offline-" he walked up to it, the marauder-wearing Sith still within his field of vision, "-to avoid someone slicing into it from outside. Offline it still allows control of the onsite security protocols from this panel only, and that's what we want."

He then did what he said he would do by simple pressing some buttons. The panel was typical Imperial-made and existed long before the civil war, thus Breda knew exactly how to do it.

Valar supposed his ally and the other wandering off was to be expected. Hopefully they were actually doing the mission rather than making out in the corner or something - that would just be his luck. The clerk walked with himself and the man he was following but Valar paid the worker almost no mind.

He hummed a little bit as he walked along.

"Then lock it down and let's get out of here." he declared, watching Breda carefully to make sure he wasn't doing anything else to the panel or the warehouse security, "Then we can leave so we aren't trapped inside with the clerks."

No one wanted to be locked in with the clerks after all.

"No offence guys - we just have work to do."

Totally.

Breda nodded in reply to the Republica Sith. He would love to see the man's face once he realized that he helped close down the warehouses that were vital for supplying the Old Empire troops that were enroute. Unfortunately that wouldn't happen, since every Republica Sith that was trapped on this world would either bent the knee or be killed. That was the way in which Darth Vrael ruled the true Empire.

Punching in the last few buttons on the security panel, Breda was content with the smoothness with which his mission had been completed. "I'm going to find that Xeno." There wasn't a doubt that in the impending chaos they would be able to slip out of their Republica armor and into something more pride-inducing than that horrid purple.
