The Lord of the Rings: The Fall of Arthedain
In the early years of The Third Age, under the rule of Arvedui - King of Arthedain and The Last King of the Dúnedain, the men of Numenor wage war with the forces of Angmar commanded by the Witch-King.

Angmar has begun their assault, in a few months time the Kingdom of Arnor shall be their's and the Fortress of Fornost plagued by the presence of the Witch-King. But that is not yet, and King Arvedui remains enthroned in Fornost Erain, the new capital of Arnor. The forces of Angmar have began their advance into the North, and though their full army does not yet march small parties of orcs and fell creatures are beginning to breach the borders of Arthedain with attack forces and minor hordes.

King Arvedui has sent out a small platoon of troops just seventy men strong led by a group of soldiers, some men of his own and others elves and dwarves sent to him as a token of good faith from his distant allies. His eyes see far, a lieutenant of the Witch-King has moved across his plains killing the innocents who travel to Fornost for their safety and killing those who should lie close to the borders of Arnor, his horde is ruthless and filled with the elite creatures of Angmar - orcs, wights and wicked men with no sense of remorse.

This horde threatens to move into the abandoned city of Annúminas and secure it as a make-shift fortress of their own, an army of men already moves towards the fortress to secure it but their size limits them from moving quickly. Those selected by King Arvedui must move into the city, kill the lieutenant of the Witch-King and hold the city until the greater forces of Arnor arrive to hold it against the forces of Angmar.

If the city is not secured, the forces of Angmar will move through the kingdom of Arthedain unchecked, unchallenged and overthrow the City of Fornost just as easily, if Fornost is over-run, the Dúnedain will face certain death.

Information

Okay, so this a Role-Play about the Dúnedain, long before the War of the Ring. The Witch-King has not yet been revealed as the lord of the wraiths and his forces move against the men in the North. If I get enough interest, I'll post up a thread for your character sheets - elves, dwarves and men or orcs, wights and angarmarim men; you will be role-playing the small group of soldiers leading either platoon.

Eh... Dibs on an elf who has emo issues.

But no, seriously, LOTR elves are apathetic assholes, mostly. <.<

So... Can I like, dunno, be a wight?

I have been RP'ing LotR since the past month. I love it. I play as the Human sterotype...

Already made an awesome application for it.

Well, I've never actually set up a Diverse Rp so I'm not sure if it's customary for me to or not? I'd be able to get an NPC'er if not.

Oh yeah totally, I'd be able to give the role of enemy NPC'ing to the PC's on Angmar's side.

Well, I might go ahead and make a character sheet now, though any one else can feel free to still join.

It's roughly 2000 - 3000 years prior to the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, and it's only about 100 - 200 years after Sauron was killed the first time by Isildur.

Shapeshifting is an ability reserved for Ainur or Maiar - Gods and Angels/Demons, essentially. Not to mention that aside from Elven 'magics' (which were vague and subtle, at best), there are only five 'wizards' - the Istari, who are Maiar in mortal form.

Soooo...long story shoft, magic's essentially out of bounds imo.

I might be interested in this - The Eldar kingdoms were in a period of relative prosperity, and Eldar pre-Hobbit are actually interesting. Arnor was the more 'Numenorian' of the two kingdoms of the Edain, and somewhat poorly documented, so there's a lot that can be done in regards to poetic licence, even in its declining days. The same with Angmar, though mind you if anyone tries to play them like they were represented in Rise of the Witch-King, I'll godmode in Illuvatar and smite the lot of you.

Yeah, sorry man, there aren't really many "mages" in the way you're thinking in Middle-Earth, may have to re-think your character a bit.

I have just finished reading the The Lord of The Rings trilogy and am so up for this that I'm currently typing from an altitude of around 30,000 feet.

I don't know what to RP as though!

Edit: Oh, and if you'd like any help with writing a narrative setting for the RP I'd be more than happy to help. :)

So sleepy... @.@

Luckily, I've read the trilogy in its entirety even if I can't remember much, and have never touched LotRO. So.... Yeah.... I just wanna be some badass who's killing people.

Can I make a Dwarf character, a warrior from Ered Luin? The Blue Mountains should still be dwarven territory at this point in time though obviously not as prosperous as Erebor before the fall of The Lonely Mountain to Smaug

Insanity - will you take me to be your unlawful, murdering 2nd in command. To train and unleash. To command the Easterling/human forces of your army. To command and enthrall. In genocide and in murder. In war and in (hopefully short) peace. In sickness and death (unleashed upon your enemies). Till some uppity do-gooder do you part?

Indeed, evil sir. I do so accept your unlawful, murdering self as my second-in-command.
