Hera Albion sat quietly at a small café in the capital city of the planet Lorrd. The capital city was also named, unironically, Lorrd City. Hera personally thought that to be the most uncreative name for a capital, but she had no say in its selection any more than any sentient alive did. A Padawan was supposed to be meeting her here soon, the instructions for the meeting location had been very specific as well in order to prevent confusion.

Another Padawan who, to Hera's knowledge, did not possess a single master. Sipping the small, dark cup of caf in her hands, Hera allowed her thoughts to drift. Yavin had recently fallen and many Padawans found themselves without a guide in these trying times. However, Hera discovered that even more had been practicing in the woodwork without any guidance at all. How many young men and women found themselves trying to navigate what was left of the Jedi Order's teachings completely alone?

The Jedi philosophy wasn't something that Hera was particularly well learned in, but that lack of knowledge came from a basis of having never had a Master herself. Of course, the order had older Knights and Masters who supervised groups of Padawans, but that was no different than having an absentee parent. A being to pop in from time to time, scold the child, then kriff off. Not a relationship built on trust or respect, but one of necessity.

Shaking her head, the Arkanian adjusted the goggles over her eyes and sipped her caf once more. 'No more,' she thought, 'we will see if this Padawan enjoys my company. If so, I will take on another young learner. This mission is an excellent test as well, being primarily of a diplomatic nature.'

Ciri held a sheet of paper in her hand, splitting her attention between navigated the crowded streets of Lorrd City and reading the scribbled direction to the cafe. She tried her best to avoid walking into people, or droids, or make-shift stalls that seemed to eat up much of the side-walk she was walking along, but it meant that she was running late. She probably would have made it on time if she had actually run, but she could not get herself to do that.

Besides, if she did arrive late, maybe the Jedi she was supposed to work with would be less inclined to get involved. She did appreciate the opportunity to leave Brighthome and not be stranded in a tin box floating in space, she wasn't sure if running around on missions and assignments was the way she wanted to get out of that situation. She actually missed Yavin, the freedom the planet had offered, the home it had become. So, lacking the motivation to make up on time lost, she ended up arriving to the cafe a little later than she was supposed to, and it didn't take her long to spot Hera, having seen the Knight at the paintball party she had attended not too long ago.

"Master Albion?" She spoke plainly as she stepped up to Hera's table, stuffing the paper with directions into a pocket and pulling out a datachip instead. Holding out the datachip for the Knight, part of a new trial program to better monitor the progress of padawans if they ever traveled on their own, she introduced herself. "I am Cirilla, I was told to report to you." She looked around as she waited for Hera to read the contents of the chip, containing reports from Ciri herself on her recent field trip to Pantora and the subsequent journey to Lorrd. She sniffed at the air, picking up the scent of food and drinks in the air and trying to identify and judge the wares on offer, wondering if there would be time to catch a bite before they left.

In truth, Hera had not even noticed that Cirilla had arrived late. Punctuality was never something the Arkanian was good at herself, therefore she tended to block out arrival/departure times for meetings and other social events in hours. If Hera said 'I'll be there at 10:15' that usually meant that she could arrive anytime between 10:00 and 11:00, maybe even later, and not feel the least bit of remorse at making someone wait for her. Of course, such nonsense was part of the reason she had to acquire her own personal starfighter. The number of shuttles Hera had missed in her lifetime was far too many to count.

Cirilla introduced herself and handed something to Hera, a datachip? It contained a record of everything Cirilla had done up until the point and Hera vaguely remembered of some initiative to watch Padawans and their actions more closely. The Knight just shrugged and gave it back to her. Gesturing, Hera spoke, "Yes- come sit, sit down." Additionally, Hera called a waiting droid over and pointed to Cirilla as the Knight spoke to it, "Whatever she wants, do get it. On my tab." The Knight didn't want to leave just yet, and she assumed the other young woman would probably be hungry after her trip.

While the droid took Cirilla's order, Hera started talking. "The planetary governor of Lorrd, having heard of recent events and knowing of our close proximity to him, has decided to support the Jedi's cause. He's offering up this planet as a safe haven for our order, but he wants something in return that he didn't specify over a message. So, you and I will be conducting the negotiations." Sipping her caf, the knight looked away for a minute. Hera's near boundless expressions of joy were replaced, for a moment, with something resembling soul crushing boredom after describing their mission.

But such appearances were quickly removed as she looked back at Cirilla, a smile once more coming back across her face. "Any questions before we head to the meeting area?"

Taking a datachip back from Hera, Ciri took a seat and ordered a cup of caf and a sandwich. As the Knight explained the mission, taking a few moments to think on what she had said when the droid returned with her order.

"What if the request is not legal? Will we leave or is it absolutely necessary that this mission succeed?" She wasn't privy to the sort of information that Hera might have about the Order and the ongoing conflict with the Sith, but even she knew that the Order was not in the strongest of positions. So it was but natural of her to wonder how much the Jedi needed this. Though if it really was that important then they would have sent Hera alone, or with someone of similar experience as her. Not a padawan, specially not a padawan with a reputation like hers, so fresh off creating trouble for the Jedi with the few allies they already had. Which brought her to the other question that she had been thinking off for some time.

She took a sip of the caf, before biting into the sandwich. "Did you request me for this assignment or did the Council push me on you?" She wasn't the most enthusiastic of padawans, having actively tried to avoid going on missions, so she wondered if this was one of her teachers trying yet again to change her, or if Hera was interested in her for whatever unfathomable reason.

'An excellent question' Hera thought as a more genuine grin crept across her face, 'An illegal request would make this day more interesting...' Sipping her own caf, Hera waited for Cirilla to begin eating and finish speaking before the red-headed knight finally responded. "I requested you. I'm not exactly known as a big 'follower of the council.' I like doing things my own way, and it seemed to me that you also like doing things your own way."

Of course, by 'her own way' Hera really meant 'alone.' Hera very rarely worked with her peers in the order, preferring to handle her issues alone or with her Padawans in order to teach them something. Waving the serving droid off as it came by for another pass to see if they would order more food, Hera spoke once more. This time she responded to Cirilla's initial question. "As for whether or not he asks us to do something illegal, if it comes down to that then we would refuse the mission and see to it that he is brought to justice. Or, at the very least, we'll just leave. Our mission is not the only plan to convince this planet to join the Jedi, so our success is not entirely necessary to proceed."

She spoke of a mission her friend, Mako, had mentioned to her in passing. She had full faith in him, and that thankfully allowed her time to focus on just training the young Cirilla. Once the young woman finished eating, Hera stood up and motioned for Ciri to follow her. Walking towards the main government building in the city, Hera hit Ciri with the question she hit every Padawan. "Why do you want to be a Jedi?"
