Ewok Settlement, Endor

She didn't care what anyone said, these Ewoks were cute, and one way or another she was going to find a way to give one a hug before they left. Of course right now wasn't a right time to be thinking such things, one of their village elders had passed away and the entire village was in mourning. But maybe that made it the perfect time to offer her condolences to one of the snuggly little things, and see for herself if their fur really was a soft and fluffy as the little Amaran instructor at the Temple had described it to be. She had of course said a great deal more on the matter, how they were brave warriors, and had played an important roll in the first fall of Palpatine, but Gwen didn't much care for any of that. Not when she was here among them. But till she got that covered, she needed to find the Knight she was supposed to be helping, and started wandering through the village to look for the Wookiee.

Ultimately her wandering brought her to the other Jedi who had been dropped off with them. She hadn't really spoken to him on the way over, the Jedi Cruiser that had dropped them off had been full of Jedi being dropped off all over the place and she hadn't spent more than a few minutes with either of her companions till they had been dropped off on the forest moon of Endor. And once here they had been swept away in the funeral ceremony. So this was more or less the first time they were interacting.

"Where's the big guy?" She asked as she wandered over to the red haired padawan, and had a sudden moment of recognition. "Hey, weren't you in that class? Astronavigation? Yeah, you were, weren't you?"

Recently, the Ewoks had contacted the Jedi Order to ask for their help. Apparently something bad was happening on the planet, but they did not reveal what it was. Given how desperate they were, the Council had decided to send Jedi Knight Cierrwaojesch to investigate. The Wookiee had worked with the Ewoks in the past and was considered a friend by them.

However, before Cierrwaojesch left for Endor, the Council had decided to send two Padawans to help him on the mission. Elidan and Guinevere Beck were selected to help him. During the travel inside the Jedi Cruiser, the half-Sephi didn’t interact with the girl. He had sat away from her, reading holobooks and articles about the creatures that lived on the moon. The boy wanted to be prepared for anything that they could meet there.

The three arrived in the village during the funeral of one of its elders. They ended up being swept away in the ceremony and Elidan lost sight of his companions. However, this experience was fantastic. The way that the Ewoks mourned their elder showed how much they respected and loved her. The boy thought that these feelings were beautiful.

After the funeral ended, Elidan went to search for the others. He was walking through the village when Guinevere found him. Her presence made him a bit nervous, with the point of his ears twitching. He hoped that she would have patience with his condition. The half-Sephi pulled his Datapad from his leather bag and typed an answer to her questions. “Apparently he is with the chief. They are friends and the deceased elder was the chief’s mother.” he showed it to her.

Now that they were close, the half-Sephi recognised the girl from some classes that they had together, both in Yavin IV and in Ajan Kloss. However, they never interacted with each other. “Yes, I remember you from that class. My name is Elidan and I have mutism.

Gwen read the message the boy put up on his datapad, and thought back on the classes she had seen him in. As far as she could recall she had never heard him speak, which in itself wasn't much to go by because he could just have been a slacker like her who wasn't inclined to contribute in class. He didn't look the type though, she had clubbed him with the more studious types, so his introduction made some things click into place.

"Elidan," she said, saying the name out loud as a mental note to lock it in with his face, something she was not very good at, "I'm Gwen." She didn't comment on his mutism, she might not have learnt a great deal at the Temple, or from her brothers, but being sensitive and polite was definitely something she had picked up along the way. "Wanna go find something to eat?" She asked instead, eyes following the trail of Ewoks headed towards the village square. "I doubt he'll be done with the chief any time soon, so we might have some time to kill."

If he agreed she would start walking towards the square, where some sort of celebration in honor of the deceased elder was doing to be held. She wondered if she would be able to find something worthwhile in the village, she was sure some fool back at the temple would happily pay her for an Ewok spear or something. "So," she asked Elidan as they walked, "how did you like astronavigation? Did ol' Lorrek threaten to hold you back as well or was that just me?"

When Gwen mentioned that they could go find something to eat, Elidan’s stomach decided that it was the perfect moment to remind the boy that he didn’t eat anything since they arrived on Endor. The sound that came from there made the half-Sephi blush. He hoped that the girl would not hear that.

Yes, let's go find some food.” Elidan answered, before following Gwen through the village. Maybe they would find his favourite food, fried tip-yip, around there. After all it was called Endorian chicken, with this planet being their homeworld. He wondered if one prepared for an Ewok would taste different from the one that was served at the Temple’s cantina.

While they walked, Gwen asked him about what he thought of the class of Astronavigation. “I like it. Knight Lorrek is a good teacher, so I passed on it without any problems.” he explained. Being someone that loved to read and learn, Elidan ended knowing beforehand much of what the Jedi would teach in the class. It would work for most of the classes, except Math and Physics. In these he would only have grades good enough to pass.

Do you have a favourite class?” the half-Sephi would ask Gwen. He had heard rumors about her, of how she used to do pranks. Elidan was curious to see if she had some academic interest.

After a short walk, the two would reach the square. It seemed that after a Ewok funeral was made, the entire community joined in a communal meal where each family would bring some food. It was really fascinating. However, Elidan’s focus went toward one of the plates that were over the table. It was full of fried tip-yip. The half-Sephi smiled, hopefully they would allow the Padawans to eat some of it.
