Ronan smirked. “I can be polite,” he replied. They walked closer to the cottages. Ronan his his saber as Hailee had suggested and was about to take a step forward to knock on the door when it swung open. A little old woman stood on the threshold. She looked human; her gray hair tied in a loose bun at the nape of her neck. Her eyes and mouth stretched into a smile, emphasizing her laugh lines. “Oh hello. It’s been so long since another human has been here, let alone two,” she said kindly. A man walked up beside her and Ronan suddenly realized this was the old couple who had lived in their cottage.

She only smirked amusedly, slightly rolling her eyes in an overdramatic manner while she nodded. Yes, he could be polite and peaceful, sweet and caring even, but she rather wanted to tease him a little. However, as they were already close, she now softly grabbed his hand before they made their way over to the first cottage.

Right after he nodded, an old, tiny but friendly looking woman opened the door and she immediately recognized her from her earlier visions. It was her. The woman that had lived in their own little cabin in the middle of nowhere before and that's why she gasped in disbelief. So it couldn't have been long...they couldn't have been here forever. "Oh well...we are just as surpised as you are. We are sorry, we didn't mean to intrude but we were stranded here a few weeks ago" Hailee explained softly, a warm smile on her lips.

Ronan stayed quiet, figuring it would be better to let Hailee speak. The woman seemed nice enough. He wondered if she and her partner would be hospitable to two random young strangers in love.

The old woman spoke again. “No worries, what can we do for you?” She said. Ronan felt a sudden wave of the Force wash over him, coming from the direction of the old lady and the man. They both narrowed their eyes a little at Ronan, likely feeling his presence in the dark side. He tried to think light thoughts but the dark side had been embedded in him from birth.

Relief washed over her as the lovely old lady replied so politely. Hailee was noticing how they critically oberserved Ronan and she was assuming that because of that, he would leave the talking to her for now, but as they seemed to be the only humanoids around she was surely hoping they would sooner or later all get along well.

Her lips were still graced with a polite smile while she quickly glanced back before she addressed the elderly couple politely. "It's like I said: we do not mean to intrude, but perhaps you could help us out a little. We are still self sufficient, but we do not know which plants are, for example, edible, so it would be lovely if you could show us around a little..?".

Ronan’s smile was not as bright as the one he had given Hailee an hour prior, but it was still more than he had smiled to a stranger before.

The old woman turned her focus to Hailee as she spoke but her partner kept his attention on Ronan. Ronan found this slightly amusing since he could easily defeat the old man but also endearing because the man was not as friendly as his partner, who was now telling Hailee all the plants that were edible and the ones that should be avoided. It was for this reason that Ronan suddenly saw himself in this man and woman, hardened by life and age but still happy with each other.

“Are you married?” He said bluntly.

The man spoke for the first time. “Fifty-one years tomorrow,” he said, just as bluntly.

Hailee was happy that Ronan managed to hold it together so well and it seemed like the two old strangers' scepticism seemed to fade with every word she spoke. That was more than good and more than she had hoped for, because after all they could have been genuinely hostile, but she was relieved that they seemed rather open hearted and friendly.

What, however, bugged her was the fact that while the woman started to describe several plants and offered to show her around, the two men seemed to have stated a staring contest until they bluntly exchanged a few words. That was exactly when Hailee couldn't help but to smirk amusedly. "I thank you kindly already" she softly said to the woman with a grateful nod, before she turned to the man. "52 years...that's impressive and sweet" she then replied with a warm smile before her gaze shifted onto Ronan. "Perhaps you can show us around right away?".

Ronan nodded and squeezed Hailee's hand. He was glad she was here to make them both look good. He kept his mouth shut and nodded. The old woman nodded and stepped back into the darkness of her hut to grab a cloak. Her husband stood in the same place, his arms crossed over his chest, staring Ronan down. Ronan had saved all his charming smiles for Hailee so he was clean out for the man. He turned away from him as the old lady walked out. Her husband followed behind Ronan and Hailee, keeping an eye on them from behind. Ronan wished his saber wasn't hidden since the man seemed to already know Ronan was powerful in the dark side.

The old lady walked ahead of them a little, but would slow down and point things out here and there. Natives roamed freely, frolicking as if in some child's holodrama.

Hailee softly squeezed his hand back as she was starting to follow the elderly woman in a rather slow pace. She listened to her attentively while she was occasionally glancing up at Ronan, a warm and genuinely happy smile on her lips.

She softly ran her thumb over the back of his hand as she was trying to take it all in. The woman was actually offering them plenty of helpful advice and it was making her even more hopeful as this place didn't seem too bad at all. They would find anything they needed her and with its remote position it was an excellent hiding spot.

There were plenty of edible plants and it seemed fairly safe since the Natives were peaceful as long as you didn't bother them too much. So they had actually found the perfect exile. 'I love this place', she telepathically told Ronan, the smile on her lips softly widening as she glanced up once again.

Ronan was just beginning to think this place wasn't so bad when Hailee smiled up at him and told him telepathically that she loved it. 'Then we stay here as long as you want,' he sent back, allowing his own little smile. The old man behind them coughed and the woman smiled sweetly at them. They couldn't hear their mental conversation but it was obvious in the way they looked at each other: Ronan and Hailee loved each other, as complicated as it was.
