Manufacturer: Baktoid Armor Workshop

Affiliation: N/A

Max speed: 20 mph when fully deployed/ 60 mph when in travel mode.

Weight: 5000 pounds (not sure about this. I know the average vehicle weighs between 2-3000 pounds.)

Ownership Availability: Factions that can afford it. Not for sale to individual PCs.

Intent: MAMDADS was created to offer a plausible defensive option for a faction's ground forces to protect themselves from propelled ordinance such as rockets.

The bottom portion of MAMDADS is a driveable vehicle. It is equipped with specialized radar and computer targeting systems that function to be able to immediately identify rockets based on the size, density, and velocity of the projectile. All of which are identified tiding the sound waves of the radar system which can cover a range of thirty meters.

The targeting computer has an algorithm that allows it to compute and predict the path the missile will take. Upon identification of an incoming missile the mounted launcher which fires a smaller rocket equipped with a guidance chip. The guidance chip receives information from the targeting computer and moves to intercept and destroy the target projectile. The time from identification to interception is roughly a second at ranges less then ten meters. The time increases by an additional second for every additional ten meters.

The vehicle, when not deployed, can be put into travel mode which disables the launcher but improves mobility. This makes it easier to transport between areas where it is needed.

We haven't really seen examples of hard-kill systems. Usually people just relied on heavier and heavier armor. See: AT-AT. Archived.
