Dear voodoo queen Marie Laveau
I’m on my knees I’m beggin’ you
Awake the Fallen One in me
Thy power above all I hail
The white rum on your grave I brought
Together with cigars and gold
I’ll find you at the river’s end
As the followers enter your realm
Sing, voodoo Marie, let me hear thy tone
Speak, voodoo Marie, let me hear thy tongue
Queen of New Orleans mother of the coven
Sing, voodoo Marie
You’ve been, called out, again
Concerned about the soul I hold
In my heart I know he’s stubborn too
Awake the Fallen Father please
Thy power above all I hail
Sing, voodoo Marie, let me hear thy tone
Speak, voodoo Marie, let me hear thy tongue
Queen of New Orleans mother of the coven
Sing, voodoo Marie
You’ve been, called out, again
How silent is the lonely one?
What do we see, what do we know
Marie Laveau, I’m full of hope
Let me speak until forever more

Marie Laveau
Is one of the legends of the South, most prominent in Louisiana. Like many tales past down through time, she was known best after her death. Her name became something of superstition. The "Bloody Mary of the Bayou" if you will. Curses, hauntings, and even stories of her bestowing gifts to those who are faithful still continue to this day.
I'd like to create a character based off the aspects of creole black magic without using a Dathomirian. Any info on Star Wars cultures that have taboo religions would be great, as well as any pictures that you may stumble upon while searching for unrelated things that might work for a shaman character. It doesn't matter what gender.
I'm open to ideas on every race as well. If you know of a race is not typically associated with magic but would be interesting to try I'm all ears.
I probably won't actually make the character for several months**, though it would be great to hear any thoughts.
*Disclaimer: All Volbeat songs have historical origins. They've made songs about the Wild West, Whalers, The Civil War, and just about everything you can think of. Please do not stamp me with any labels here. I simply liked the song, thought it was neat, and decided to do something with it.
