Landall was rumaging through reems of notes, confirming the various processes and procedures that he would need to rely upon for the forthcoming hearing. For many this would have been a mind-numbing process, but he was in his element. With everything ready, he took his position, standing in a podium, two others to his right and two to his left for the hearing members, one from each body represented on the Galactic Senate. Before them was a table stainless durasteel with a set of chairs behind it for the various witnesses, all of who would be stripped of weapons and armour long before they entered the room - after all, this was a hearing, not an arena.

With a rap of his staff, he opened the session.

"Order!"

"I call this hearing to order. Landall Charila presiding. On the panel are Senator Hedarial, Governor Carrick, Commander Widase and Grand Master Voran of the New Republic, the Independent Systems Consortium, the Free Worlds Alliance and the Jedi Order in turn."

"The objective of todays hearing it to gain an understanding of the recent crisis on Mandalore, in whicha vessel hosting civilians from some of the worlds represented at the Galactic Senate, was destoryed and the civilians killed, on Mandalorian soil."

"The chair notes that the bodies of the deceased have been returned, and that an investigation by Mandalore is forthcoming."

"Furthermore the chair reminds witnesss to respond only to the questions posed to them. Finally the Chair reminds members of the hearing to keep on topic, keep your questions focusedand refined to that topic, and to respect the forum in which they sit."

"The session therefore commences at eleven-hundred hours."

"The chair calls the first witness, Lex Solus of Mandalore. From evidence presubmitted to the hearing, which is present on your datapads, members, Solus is considered the primary cause of the so-called 'Emyrc Thorne Fan Club', a lose collective of 'fans' of the President of the Independent Systems Consortium heading to Mandalore."

"The chair opens to the hearing to questions from the panel."

With that, he rapped the staff on the ground once again, and resumed his seat, allowing the hearing to commence.

Alex flicked through the datapad given to her by Landall. The notes were horrifying. A completely civilian craft blasted from the air by the Mandalorians. She knew her history, the Mandalorians certainly were capable of such brutality, but Vraes had never been anything but honorable. Honor was a part of being a Mandalorian…at least from her understanding. What happened did not make sense. Alex couldn’t comprehend shooting down a civilian craft. It was the Emyrc Thorne Fan Club for Force’s sake. They were hardly a danger to anyone but themselves. Well, possibly a danger to the man they adored. Certainly not Mandalore. The panel would discover the truth. Alex took a quick breath before heading into the hearing. Her mental walls were locked carefully tight, her face a blank mask.

The Order had not actively participated in the Galactic Senate in some time. They had a seat at the table that was very rarely used. It would not serve the Order well to actively pick sides. She intended to maintain that neutrality…such as she should. This however was different. This was a massacre the Senate faced with unity. The Order remained in the Senate for this reason. Alex walked in behind Landall, carefully taking her place beside Carrick. That choice was intentional. As Landall completed his opening remarks, Alex stared down at the newly occupied seat. Lex Solus…the Mandalorian from the rescue efforts. She wasted no time speaking first.

“Mr. Solus, were you aware what actions your fellow Mandalorians would take when you sent the fan club to Mandalore?” Her voice was not accusatory but rather sought the truth. Alex watched Lex carefully. One benefit of Carrick and the Grandmaster serving on the panel was they would know the lies when they came.

Sitting in the chair that had been arranged for him, Carrick sat as the representative for the ISC on the panel responsible for reviewing the events on Mandalore as they had unfolded both during and after the kidnapping of Emryc Thorne. He liked to think that he would be an impartial judge, especially since the victims were from all over the Galaxy – the President was a popular man and not just because of his stellar record in Galactic politics.

Though that didn’t hurt.

Other members of the little tribunal were people he had worked with in the past, though it was strange to see the Jedi Grandmaster involved. Half because it was strange to see that anyone had picked up the cursed position and half because it was strange to see the Jedi actually engaging in the political process.

And he had had such high hopes when they’d argued to be allowed some involvement in the political dealings of the Galactic Senate when it was first formed. Ho hum as the saying went. Taking a sip from a glass of water, he settled in to listen to the first witness who would give the first account of the incident, starting from the beginning.

He didn't think the man likely knew what he had started but Alex was right to establish that firstly.

After shit had hit the fan, Lex had been there on the scene. He was the only person who had been there when Pootalina was shot and also when the civilian ship got shot down. He'd realized what this meant during a shower and almost slipped as he kicked the wall out of frustration. That stupid Wermal had dragged him into a world of drama that he wondered when he'd get out. The longer he stayed in the spotlight, the less reputable he was as a bounty hunter in the Outer Rim. He could almost hear the cantinas making fun of him as he got ready for the hearing.

Upon arriving, he'd ducked out of the all-black speeder bearing the seal of Clan Solus and stepped into the Senate building. Finding the correct room wasn't hard, but he was stopped at the door.

"Err, you can't come in with those," a Togruta in a uniform declared, and Lex craned the front of his helmet so it was facing the man directly. There was a pause.

"Oh, yes. So sorry," he replied taking his rifle off his shoulder and his pistols from the holster then placing them on the table. He reached into his pockets and began pulling out a vast array of objects--both with military and civilian use--and ended with a pack of cigarettes with the colorful logo of a three-eyed alien. "That should be all," he said after a few minutes. His pockets were empty. The only thing left on him were his clothes and armor.

"Sir, I'm sorry but you can't come in wearing t--" The second officer at the checkpoint piped up but was silenced as his colleague raised his hand and Lex turned to face him.

"No, I think we can make an exception for this gentleman," the Togruta decided, clearly uncomfortable with the thought of what would happen if they tried to get the Mandalorian out of his armor.

"Appreciate it," he nodded, then stepped inside.

Lex could feel hundreds of pairs of eyes on him as he walked to his seat. He rose a bit after as he was called to the stand, his steps deliberate. He turn to look at the Jedi as she began to talk, rolling his eyes behind his helmet. He did not quite understand why space wizards got to be part of the hearing, but he supposed that was a difference in culture.

"No, I was not, Grandmaster, and I would also like to let the record show that I did not send the fan club to Mandalore. How they were inspired by my actions here on Coruscant and how they acted on that inspiration is not my business." He already knew they were going to try to pin things on him, but he would fight tooth and nail to prevent that.
