I'm planning on making an original species/homeworld for a character and as such i'd assume those need to be approved first. that being said i love mandalorians but ironically i don't have any characters yet. i'm thinking my Sustenian (original species) character could find his way to the mandalorian culture but i'm not sure how he'd get there. he and species are all in a disorganized bunch of posts in my DOTR workshop thread in my signature.
Well your species looks interesting! If it gets approved I'm sure we can work out a way how he'd get to Mandalore!

So, you lot still sticking purely with Clans, or you gonna work in Houses too, as that's canon? Vizla being a House, of which Clan Wren was a part.

I'm waiting until I see the episode before I make any presumptions on the nature of clans and houses. I don't think there will be a large change in the nature of the interactions other than one might owe loyalty to the other, and one might even argue the clan/house system isn't even formally introduced yet, though I figure most would be fine with it. But again, before I start doing things differently, I want to see exactly what is said in the episode.

Though, really all I imagine having to change is the addition of the House grouping to Vizsla and Wren and any other clan/house relation. Like if clan Merrik is part of House Kryze. Or clan Fando is part of house Mando.

I think a house is formulated by partnership

If Cabderous Ordo Married Shae Vizsla then they would be a house? Or at least that's what I took from it

I think it could also be done by a pledge of loyalty. one clan working in an alliance other others not unlike how in game of thrones house baratheon is the ruling house but has house lanister, stark and others still hold somewhat independence. but all in all it goes on a case by case basis. if the "ruling" clan who leads the house doesn't like the terms or anything like that happens they can either stay separate or even become rivals. all in all its most likely an unofficial but honorary deal made between leaders of each clan to stand together under one house name.

The Mandalorians were once one of the most notable warriors cultures in galactic history. The famed and revered clans of Mandalore fought in wars throughout the galaxy, from the somewhat baron and desolate outer rim, to the booming cityscapes of the deep core. By far one of their most notable opponents were the legendary Knights of the Jedi Order. While a vast majority of Mandalorians tend to be human any and all species that prove themselves worthy may be accepted into Mandalorian society.

Once a nomadic people made of many clans the majority of Mandalorians were bound by a common culture that revolved around battle. It was a widely believed that combat was a way to gain loyalty and respect as well as bring honour and pride to ones respective clan or house. While almost all were soldiers in some respect all Mandalorians played a pivotal role in their communities with some taking secondary roles such as weapon smiths, armour smiths and medics. Members of a clan were typically judged by their actions, achievements and contribution to said clan rather than formal ranks denoting a strict hierarchy. For this reason everyone in Mandalorian culture was deemed equal, irrespective of gender or species.

During recent times the clans have begun to scatter across the known galaxy. With the Mandalorian numbers starting to dwindle many have moved away from their cultures once obsessively war-like ways. Choosing to put their skills to use in roles such as bounty hunting or as mercenaries they have become highly sought after additions by both military organisations and criminal enterprises. In some cases Mandalorians turned there backs on fighting all together opting for the more peaceful roles the galaxy has to offer.

Now....

So I've started it off, I think I've put as much as I can into the historical/cultural overview of the ridiculously sparce material we have to work with now. Some of your more experienced guys might be able to flesh it out with other history, as well as someone to follow on from what I have done with were its looking to go now.

P.s please forgive my spelling and grammar its 0130 here
