Dax Vizsla versus Revora Kelborn

The Trial of Skill was meant to test a warrior’s ability to work alone and was the second stage of the Mandalorian tournament. In this round of fighting, two teams of one would battle for supremacy and to render the other fighter incapable of fighting back. If a Mandalorian could not work and defend themselves in single combat, then they were no use to the crusade. The Mand’alor and War Council would see who could not hold their own in this duel.

Situated in the fabled forests on the Expansion Region world of Umbara, this perilous arena is unique for its perpetual near-darkness. Thick trees are scattered about the arena, with dangerous roots lining the ground and making it hazardous to run around blindly. Thick underbrush conceals some of these roots, but there is a relatively clear area in the center of the arena. The tradeoff for fighting in the center, though, is that it’s far, far darker and thus harder to see. The edges of the arena have mysterious fungal growths that emit a small radius of light – enough to generally have pretty good vision of the immediate area for a few meters, but the root undergrowth is far denser here.

The two fighters would start opposite each other in the arena. Their loadouts, as before, were randomized.

Revy (@Caught in Strangereal) would be outfitted in the torso, back, and head armor of scavenged Sith trooper armor with both listed functions and carry two Model-B stun batons. The helmet for her armor was a tad too big and doesn’t fit quite right. The armor also has several burnt-out glowsticks attached to the arms and legs. They give off a faint glow. The armor was blood red and… probably was painted with actual blood. Yuck.

Dax (@Wit) would be outfitted in a full suit (minus torso) of brutus assault armor with a dart launcher and wielded shock boxing gloves and a fully loaded stun scattergun. The limiters on the gloves were removed and were equivalent to a Model-B stun baton. Attached to his shoulder was a toy bird, just like a pirate would have. Yarr! Instead of torso plating, he was given a funny cooking apron.

Several droids floated around, streaming the fight for the rest of the Mandalorian people. The Mand’alor and War Council would watch as well, judging the fighters on their skill, tenacity, and ability to adapt.

Dax inspected his gear as he entered the arena. Last time he had been forced to rely on mobility, this time it would have to be resilience. The heavy armor would slow him down, though the added protection did sort of make up for it. But the fact that he was missing a piece of armor and that his normal fighting style had better matched his previous load out should provide some challenge.

He raised a fist in salute to those that would be watching the fight, before turning his attention towards the other side of the arena. His focus on his opponent, he would let them enter and observe them before making his move.

"Let’s get this show on the road."

OOC: This takes place before Revy's capture and mutation at the hands of the Sith

Would it kill them to at least find her a helmet in right size? Revora adjusted her helmet slightly for what felt like the tenth time this day. Still at least she had one. To be honest she was still a little surprised to had made it through the first leg of the tournament now feeling empowered to throw her all into all into this fight and see if she would come out on top.

As a treat for the audience she had her suit's recorder streaming directly to the holofeeds allowing viewers to watch the fight from her perspective. A little bit of fan fair never hurts. She stepped forwards into the Arena. She knew she was likely in for a tough fight and that her opponent would be formidable the perfect opportunity to show everyone that she had plenty of fight in her. Her First act being to start removing several of the burnt out glowsticks from her legs and right arm and start reattaching them to her left arm forearm. While the amount of light they gave was small with even her being barely able to make out the glow she wanted her opponents eyes to spot and fixate on a extremity she could afford to lose. It would also make it harder to see where her rough center of mass would be.

Flicking to one of several presets she had made with the voice scrambler it would distort her voice to a deeper male voice with a odd accent. She began to carefully march her way to the center embracing the darkness of the center clearing. Circling around it, stun batons in hand. She would raise her head up towards the forest ceiling and give a single call out.

"This stage is yours, do as you please."

Dax began moving cautiously towards the center of the arena, moving from tree to tree, staying hidden, till he heard the call from his opponent. The sound, long with the faint glow she was giving off was enough for him to spot her. He continued moving stealthily, keeping very quiet and keeping to the cover of trees. As she began circling around the clearing, he carefully and slowly made his way to as close to the clearing as he could, and waited behind a tree three meters or so from where he expected her to pass.

As she reached his side of the clearing, he would step out from behind her and using her glowing parts as a target, fire a single charge of his stun scattergun. Hopefully, with little warning of his presence before the shot was fired from behind her, she would take the hit and give him an opening to make his next move. He would observe for a moment from where he was and make up his mind regarding his next move on the basis of her reaction. Ready to either slip back into hiding or jump in with another attack.

Seeing his opponent make no attempts to avoid his attack, taking the full brunt of the attack, the stun beam hitting her back and arms. Her arms would lose functionality while her back would go stiff. Effectively immobile now, she would be in a pinch as Dax rushed forward.

He fired another shot at her back for good measure as he ran in and once in arms reach he would use his empty fist to grab her neck, releasing the full charge of the shock glove into her body. Through it all he would be ready to react and break off the attack at any moment if she tried to retaliate.

Before the two contestants could continue their fight, a fully armored Mandalorian field marshal landed neatly in the middle of the arena, having jumped from his ship flying above and using his jetpack to guide his descent. He looked at the one remaining fighter, then to the droids flying around and broadcasting the event on the Holonet.

”This fight has concluded!” he shouted, ensuring everyone could hear him, ”The other duel has ended and this one must come to a judge’s decision. The Mand’alor and his War Council have made their decision, and it is final!” He paused for a moment to build up suspense before drawing his beskad and pointing it at Dax.

”The winner of this duel by decision is Dax Vizsla!”

There was a time limit established for the duel, and, unfortunately, this fight had run its course. Dax had maintained the offensive almost the entire fight, and, having shot Revy square in the back with his stun scattergun, it was unlikely she would be in a position to fight back against further attacks. The War Council’s decision was final, and they would not entertain any resistance.
