Backstory
A simple life, a simple planet. What more could you ask for? Unfortunately, Marcellus was unable to have either one.
Born on the date 136aby to the Miralukan homeworld of Alpheridies, Marcellus' place of origin was a particularly simple one. Initially raised by a nomadic sect of his own Miralukan people, these nomads favored survival and connection to the planet above all else. A vagabond society, this was Marcellus Di'Angelos' birthright.
The section of Alpheridies in which they lived was almost entirely unregulated by the planetary government. Because of this, most groups of Miralukans in his area were tribal to a certain degree, or downright primitive. This was due to no small part because of their natural inclination to be shamanic, traversing the world(s) in search of a higher connection to the force.
Marcellus was born alongside a twin brother: Lucra Di'Angelo. Although their people were wanderers at heart, they were also well documented to be a warrior clan; something of a rarity on the planet Alpheridies.
Although each Miralukan in the tribe had parents who had primary care, it was very much a society in which the entire village was responsible for their well-being and education.
Being that they were shamanic in nature, they preferred having a small group of specialized combatants perform simple escort missions in order to stay out of most of the conflict while still being able to acquire money for shipments to their tribe.
They were not the most warrior-like clan in comparison to surrounding tribes, instead emphasizing survival and accumulation of resources to further their insurance of legacy as opposed to directly entering conflicts.
Almost every Miralukan is some degree of force-sensitive, but a connection strong enough to imply service in the Jedi Order was not extremely common; and most spent their lives as either a nomad, sages, or shamans to other more powerful tribes in exchange for money.
It wasn't until shortly after the twins were born that it was discovered they were force-sensitive. For a world of force sensitives, this was nothing inherently amazing at first. However, significance rose from a seemingly normal set of twins in a long line of weak force-sensitives.
A few months after their births they started interacting with almost everything through the use of force, and even seemingly communicating in ways that were beyond the understanding of the shamans. They had seemed to quite literally feel each-others emotions or pain. This was a shock to the tribe who hadn't seen someone wield the force in such a way, implying without a doubt that they were fairly powerful in their connection. Unfortunately, this was set for disaster in such a primitive setting. It wasn't long before word of this got out to another clan, and then to another, and then to all. A disaster, needless to say.
Some of them wanted to sell the children to the Empire or Syndicate for a large sum of money, others wanted to abolish them from their territories in hopes they were not discovered by more powerful entities such as the Sith or the Jedi. Miralukans were similar to Mandalorians in their desire to be uncooperative when it came to their kin.
Word of this floated around the tribes for a few months. Although nothing happened in the short term, it was only a matter of time before the decay spread. Ironically, this rumor of betrayal to their own race had angered multiple other clans including Marcellus' own. Understandably so, tribal wars were rare as opposed to war with the more modernized Miralukans. At first, it was only rumors and hearsay; but clear feats of the strong connection to the force were a source of contention amongst those with different ideas about how to utilize them, which lead to the point of constant infighting sparked by outside entities.
A year of infighting was all it took for the already resource-intensive problems to come to a peak, and shortly thereafter a massive stalemate that only left dead bodies and empty pockets was left. Unbeknownst to them, the in-fighting itself was never sparked by their own people.
This was the crime Syndicates plan all along, one that was doomed to succeed against the sake of the Miralukan tribes; a surefire operation that had seen them concede to their own failures in structure. This was practically standard protocol for invasions of a simpler nature: to take advantage of their weakness with minimal resistance. Without resistance, they couldn't fail. And they didn't.
Marcellus and his brother's entire clan were wiped out by the Syndicate in hours. Individually strong they perhaps were, but a total lack of organization was a fatal flaw of their tribes. One of the shamans, another relatively experienced user of the force, was known for being precognitive and anticipated their arrival. This small feat of either luck, chance, or coincidence had saved both of their lives, but cost one of their livelihoods.
The clan was at least somewhat aware of the situation and managed an attempt to smuggle the babies off-world to a Miralukan moon colony. The attempt only partly succeeded, and their protectors died fending off huttese enroute in the hundreds as they all attempted to escape with them. The protector took both of them in his arms and ran for his life in another direction, but unfortunately was caught in the moment of panic and stumbled down a steep cliff with only Lucra in hand, Marcellus having almost immediately slipped out his grip. The protector knew that if he had attempted to go back for Marcellus, they'd all be dead. He had to accept the loss and move on nearly instantly.
Lucra had managed to escape with a protector off-world due to this, and Marcellus was left for dead. Marcellus was captured by the Syndicate and was raised as a slave, while Lucra was sent safely to the moon colony. Having next to no memory of his childhood, and being barely older than a year, Marcellus was in no position to argue nor have a perspective of anything other than his life as a slave.
Years passed, and Marcellus was traded to the highest bidder for his relative precognitive feats and his strong connection to the force. The syndicate at that time saw more worth in re-selling than simply attempting to train him, as no syndicate sensitive wanted a boy practically born in the sewer with no birthright, nor the hassle of raising a kid. Thus, the operation to the Miralukan home world was seen as a monstrous failure and waste of resources, one overseen by a syndicate member who to this day no longer breathes.
But Marcellus still breathes. He breathes the filthy air of whatever slaving facility he was sent to next. He breathes with no anticipation, no destiny, and no right to call anything his own. But... He does breathe with determination, and with a strength that is rarely seen in the galaxy. For what reason he feels so strongly about his inner anger, he has no clue. But he feels it every day, in hopes that someone acknowledges his real potential. He breathes knowing that one day, he will be free.
