Mark was born to the two 24-year-old Bastilla and Falcon Darsten in the capital of Onderon: Iziz. With his mother having died of childhood and his dad always fighting in the army, he spent most of his first 4 years of his life with his grandparents. He rarely ever managed to see his dad and whenever he did, his dad was always going on and on about his recent or future deployments. It frustrated Mark and Mark was closer to his grandparents more than anyone else.
At the age of 4, Mark and his grandparents received shocking news that Falcon had received a mental scar and was rushed to hospital as soon as his body had been found. He had fought against many monsters - the natural animals of Onderon - which had killed pretty much his whole team. Him and about 5 others only survived. It was even worse for Mark then as his dad was around but never talked but the entire Darsten family appreciated the fact of how Falcon scraped off too severe damage to be classed as in need of full medical attention. However, now he was getting into a new hobby of politics.
Falcon finally decided to teach Mark some skills. He taught Mark how to survive, shoot a gun and much more things. By the time he was 8, Mark knew how to survive about a year in the forests of Onderon and fire, reload and take apart a gun and assemble it back together. As much as his father's company wasn't the greatest Mark really enjoyed spending time with his dad. But when Mark was 8, Falcon finally started speaking out his mind which was to the Darstens good in some aspects and bad in others. Falcon then received an invitation to join the local council.
At the start, Falcon kept seeing Mark and his parents as much as he would after his war days but sooner for Mark it was like the first 4 years of his life again. Mark suffered quite a bit of depression as he had finally come to appreciating the company of his dad and did consider his father quite as a friend. Once Mark was 8, Falcon joined a major political party for the Onderonion government and Mark finally had enough of it. One day when Falcon came home after a meeting between the party, he was greeted by a furious Mark who physically smacked him across the face and pushed him out of the house. Not long after, Falcon forgave him after he explained he was sorry.
For the next 6 years, Mark managed to deal with everything and became quite a "lone wolf". He kept teaching himself how to use a gun and actually managed to built himself his own rifle which took about a year to finish. It was fully functional and to present times, Mark is still adding onto it and improving it. Mark did, in a way, set up his own miniature business by fixing things for people as he picked up that repairing type of skill well - well, well enough to build his own rifle.
Finally at the age of 16, Mark became really "p*ssed off" when his dad accepted an invite to the Galactic Senate. Mark, to escape the fact his dad has left, decided to join the Onderonion Military. For a year he trained with them and went on one minor deployment. After his deployment he came home to find his dad was back. His dad invited him to come to the Republic with him so he could work with the Border Alliance and Mark agreed. His dad then convinced the Border Alliance to let him join and after Mark showed off his skills with guns and survival too he was let in. He was given the rank of lieutenant due to his experience in both military and skills. Many have acknowledged that he is mature for his age and the BA liked that about him. They see good potential as he progresses and grows up into a more skilled soldier.

MARKSMANSHIP: Mark is quite skilled when it comes to markmanship. He can really work well with guns especially with the rifle he has made. His shot accuracy is his best strength as he was taught from an early age. His downside of that skill is the fact that he can't work with every gun given to him.
REPAIRING: Mark's favourite hobby and most valuable skill is his ability to repair. He can repair speeders, weapons but still can't grasp the skill of repairing an actual ship or little fighter (as little as fighters go).
STRENGTH: Mark isn't awfully strong. He is strong enough to cope but that is one of the things he could really improve on. What he relies more on is his knowledge opposing to his strength.
FITNESS: Mark is fairly fit but is more pacey than he is fit. Due to his upbringing not seeing his parents, he has had to focus on keeping his mental fitness up. However, as he is a soldier he has a decent fitness but it is something that could realy be improved on.
WISDOM: Mark isn't the most wise person but has good judgement as far as judgement skills can go. Most of the time, he can stick to the right and safer path and prefers to stay safer but can handle the more dangerous path if needed.
KNOWLEDGE: In terms of weaponry and survival, Mark has exceptionally brilliant knowledge. He could manage to survive in the jungle if he was stranded there and knows a lot about weapons especially guns as he has made one himself.

Mark likes to get as much time as he can with his dad as he hasn't seen his dad that much as a young boy and finds working in the Republic just like his dad a great opportunity to do so.
In terms of social skills, Mark is more of a lone wolf and prefers to do things by himself. He isn't afraid to make friends but you're either a close friend with him or not a friend with him at all. He doesn't particularly like to make enemies and, unless provoked, is a kind person who won't fight. He is more selfless than selfish and isn't afraid to stand up for others and what's right.
