"Dear Father,
I remember from the beginning when you taught me respect and honor. I remember the first day I held the family sword, and that it was not a tool for killing, but to be used as a tool of honor. I respect no other more than you, father. I respect your teachings. Honor is all I have left; I beg that you do not take it away when you hear the truth. I have done many things that are wrong, father. I don’t expect forgiveness or support. I just want you to understand; no matter how horrible things may seem to have become, I have never thrown away my respect of mankind. In these troubling times, I have never let blood fall to the ground from innocents. I have only done what is necessary to survive. Even a criminal can have their honor, can they not? I have never forgotten your teachings, and I never will. I leave it to you, father, to decide the fate of my honor. I will always respect your choice.

You know my crimes –
But not my name;
I want you to know;
You must know;
I am not evil;
Poverty asks plenty of a man;
Honor itself cannot pay the way;
The only job that I can serve is the path for which I am hunted;
It pities me that my skills are unwanted for good;
If I could, I would do it for good;
I want you to understand;
You must understand;
This path I have chosen will not last;
I would do anything to be free from it;
Yet – no one will take my skills;
I do not want forgiveness;
I expect none;
Grace is all I can expect;
I do not see it in my future;
The day will come when this ends;
I will leave this hive of wretchedness;
None of these dishonorable men deserve my skill;
I will turn from them when the times are better;
I do not expect you to have you arms open;
I expect you to have the guns pointing;
I will face judgment if I must;
I will do my time;
I would rather not.
This path was the response to poverty;
I do not mean to hurt anyone;
Only their valuables are taken;
I will never remove innocent life;
You must understand;
The Honorable Thief begs for understanding;
This is a very troubling time.
Honorable Thief,
Wherever you may be; we do not believe your letter of penance. Do not harass us with your lies. We know your poverty and we know your path. You only items to cherish are you r sword and honor. Many have been reported dead to your sword. Survivors say that in a raid you are as savage as the worst of them. Do not try to redeem yourself. You are as much a murderer and scoundrel as the rest of the pirates. No understanding is required when it has been obtained. You must understand that you are a pestilence to the galaxy. If you had any honor, you would smite yourself from the territories you plague.

“I asked him his name.
‘The Honorable Thief he said’
Mockery followed. He was to be killed for his foolishness.
He made his own initiation trial. I’ve never seen anyone like him.
His speed was amazing and accuracy perfect.
He evaded a volley of fire from marksmen, and gave them submissive cuts.
The men are afraid of him.
He chooses to live and eat alone.
He seems to be a worthless piece of meat, but he is not.
Men of my crew have rebuked him and spat at him.
He takes it until the first punch is thrown.
He moves like a snake;
He springs up from silence to finish a fight.
He has not told his story of his past.
He prefers to be alone in silence.
I know his training is solid in both sword and hand.
If he were not honorable, I would be dead.
He would be the Captain.
I have never had such a valuable man.
I’ve trusted no other man more.
Men call him weak for not killing.
I believe the feat of not killing is stronger than any other.
He takes only what he needs to survive.
He seems a pathetic man.
If he wanted to, he could become rich from this job in a day.
Others mock him; I will always respect him.
I am glad he is part of my crew."
