Strengths and Weaknesses: Mathias is considered to be an excellent shot among the members of the Grand Army of the Republic. However, he has trouble handling a sniper rifle, because of the amount of precision, and the delicacy, required to hit targets. One of this soldier's most valued quality among the officers is her ability to make quick-second decisions under pressure.

Mathias has a rough past with the Alsakan, and may disregard orders for the pleasure of striking one down. This is considered to be his greatest flaw. Although Mathias is quite intelligent, he sometimes does not think straight (to the surprise of his comrades), and may have a bloodlust.

Personality: This soldier has an extreme distaste towards the Alsakans and their forces. He dedicates a lot of time in coming up with methods to efficiently kill them. Besides the bloodlust, Mathias is one to record events, making him a scholar, of sorts. He holds great responsibility over his men and the success of the missions that he is assigned to.

History: Born on Coruscant, Mathias was born the son of a diplomat. He traveled with his family frequently throughout his life. By doing so, his education never went into full bloom. This is not to be confused with his above-average IQ. While traveling, the transport that he was in was attacked by pirates. Confusion led Mathias to believe that it was an Alsakan ship. The violence that followed led to the deaths of the vast majority of the passengers. His family was killed in the cross-fire.

Suffering from shock and immerse sorrow, Mathias had no idea what to do, or where to go. He found himself at a recruitment station, and entered at the age of 16 to gain enough cash to live by. Within the military, Mathias's smarts arose, and he eventually was promoted to lieutenant from a balance between skill in combat and his strategic maneuvers.

After the deaths of several COs, Mathias Heivel took command of a Republic detachment that cleared the way on a terrorist-controlled planet for a rescue mission, led by Lt. Brendon Hurley. He commanded his troops from Alpha Base, which came under mortar fire not long before Hurley's men made ground contact.

Later, he took part in the Battle of Coruscant as the deck officer of Flagship-1, under Cnl. Jacques Mulluns. Although his flagship played a minor role in the incident, he was soon forced to evacuate Coruscanti space and soon found himself on Alderaan, operating under the newly promoted Cpt. Hurley. When Hurley was promoted to Colonel and became the Commander-in-chief of the Republic Military, Mathias found himself promoted to Captain.
