DESCRIPTION
Corellian Engineering Corporation is proud to offer a new class of ships based on the successful TF-972 Mako! The Argus is a fully capable hospital ship in the smaller and faster size of a light freighters. The Argus is fully capable of handling any situation it is thrown into, from interplanetary medical transports to accompanying strike forces and spec ops into enemy lines. Order yours today! With the failures of its predecessor ship, the TF-900, was left with an excess number of ships that could not be sold. The CEC set out on a new venture, turning the 900's into the 972 Mako, hoping to find a market for the hull on the open market. Still unable to find its audience, CEC decided to turn a portion of the unsold Makos into a new line of ships, the Argus, a mobile medical triage and hospital transport platform.
The Argus retains the basic hull, shielding, engines and hyperdrive of the Mako. This is where the similarities end between the ships. In order to create a true hospital grade ship, the majority of the internal systems had to be removed, cleaned, and replaced with hospital-grade seals to prevent cross contamination between the medical bays and the ships systems.
The Argus also has a different interior layout, centered around a large medical bay. The bay has two decontamination chamber that double as airlocks, one leading to outside the ship, and the other giving access to the small loading bay. A small passages runs from the loading bay to the bridge. Near the bridge is where three small living quarters are located.
Despite the hype that the CEC attempted to create, the Argus still suffered from the same issues as the ships it was built upon, not able to find its market. A few hospital corporations and government bought the Argus, but found the small size limited the usefulness of the Argus compared to larger medical ships.
Perhaps unintentionally, the Argus has been finding its way into criminal hands, often using the guise of a medical ship to smuggle low-volume, high-value items.
LEGALITY
Legal, ownership is typically restricted to those with proper medical trainingINTENT
The goal behind this ship is to allow for a mobile medical platform for those who either need the cover story, or genuinely wish to provide aid to those in need. The Argus's design allow for handling infectious diseases, providing medical aid to small combat forces, working as a mobile medic for criminal organizations, smuggling of high-value, low-volume items or passengers, or even acting as a mobile life-support ship for terminally ill VIPs who need to stay mobile.ADVANCED TECH
