A day after landing on Lamaredd Zian was out on her own. She eyed the water, she had never seen so much water in her life. Very carefully she bent over to touch it. It felt strange flowing over her hand, she had felt water before it was just so much of it was weird to her. Having only ever seen ice her whole life this was very strange. This whole place was strange, the buildings were above the waters, they were strange in design. She knew she was being eyed, by the locals, but it didn't bother her. Her people were not exactly welcomed every were considering the war, but her mother was working to recover the Chiss. Her father had thought that by sending her to the Jedi would help mend some wounds or at least start the process. Zian didn't know much about her father outside that. She just sat down on the edge of the path, took her shoes off, and stuck her feet in the water. Her face was emotionless the entire time. It would be sometime before she got used to these aliens, course it would take time for them to accept or get used to her.

Reland had been busy learning the new security layouts for Lamaredd for several days, but had found himself with some down time and decided he would venture outside today. He preferred the open air to that of the caves. He had made his way outside when he saw a young girl sitting on the beach. He knew she was one of the newer Padawans to arrive at the base. He had been trying to at least learn the faces of all the new comers. She clearly had some Chiss in her blood, however, he had never seen a chiss with the light of a skin color.

As he approached her, he could feel the sadness emanating from her. Perhaps she was home sick. Its something that is common among newer comers to the Order, especially ones so young. Or Perhaps it was something else.

"Hello there, Mind if I sit?" he asked the young Jedi.

A strange man walked up, she could feel something emanate from him much like Kai had shown her on their way here only this man was different. "Go ahead." She said. She couldn't stop anyone one from sitting, this was their place after all. He was a human that much was clear something she knew from the Chiss library. Alot of knowledge had been stored in the chiss library, she had only studied the important species of the galaxy, her people's history or as much as they knew, military strategies, and other important things. Zian wasn't quite sure how she would be received here, after all there was a lot her people had done that had to be mended.

"Well, Thank you." He said warmly

He took off his boots and rolled his pant legs up. It no doubt looked odd seeing the Jedi Master with his pants rolled up to his knees, but Reland was far beyond the point of caring what other people thought of him. He sat down about seven feet beside her. It was close enough where they could talk, but he did not want to spoke the young padawan.

"My name is Reland Gil. What is your name?"

If she grew up with the Chiss, this planet would surely be a shock for her. This place was a tropical paradise, and she surely had never experienced beaches before. She seemed distant, and Reland could tell something was bothering her.

"I am Zian." She said. She wiggled her toes in the water, she could feel the eyes watching her. Sensing things was something Kai had taught her on the way here, so sensing them watching her was something she picked up on. It was not something she was used to feeling, at home they had treated her no different than other Chiss. Here though, she felt like she was being judged. She kept calm and just kept playing with the water. It was different not being cold, having heat without wires. The wild life was very different too, she heard noises she was not something she was used to either.

As he sat next to her, he started to understand why she felt uncomfortable, at least partially.

"They aren't judging you, you know. They just don't get to see a Chiss everyday."

He looked over at several people who had taken to watching the two Jedi. As he locked eyes with them they quickly looked away and moved on about their business.

"I think you will find that the native people of Lamaredd are a kind enough sort."

He needed to get her talking.

"How are you adjusting to this place?" He asked. He wanted to talk to her about what was bothering her, but decided to ask a few questions before that so as not to spook her away.

"Everything is alien to me..and I know what my people did. I wouldn't hold it against them if they were hostile to me. I would just understand that we have a lot to make up for and do my best like my mom to make it right." She said. She turned to look at him her black eyes saw the shades of grey in him. "Your a master aren't you." She said. Zian got that conclusion from his ability to sense that she was picking up on their stares, she picked up on things rather quick it was kind of a requirement where she had lived.

"I am much more interested in your path, not the path of your ancestors. I dare say, you were not even born when the events you speak about took place." He wasn't sure how old she was, but he was certain she was very young.

"Do not dwell on the past, dwell on the now. You will make a difference one day, young one. I promise." he said warmly

"Your a master aren't you." She asked inquisitively.

Reland let out laugh.

"That is what they tell me at least." he said jokingly

He leaned over and whispered in a rush tone "Though, I don't think they know that I secretly sneak out here everyday and sit on beach all day. Can you keep it a secret?" He smiled as he looked back over the ocean. It was a peaceful, warm day, and the water was just about the perfect temperature. Though still a bit cold for his liking, he assumed it seemed like bath water to the young Padawan.

"I will keep your secret and share one if you wish." She said. Zian was certain that eventually her secrets would be known, but she was very hard to get information from, it was a Chiss training technique.

Reland raised an eyebrow and glanced over at the young girl.

"That's up to you." he said as he gained the same loud whisper tone from before "I am pretty good at keeping secrets though."

Maybe if she opened up to him it would make it easier to open up the other Jedi. There was no rush though. She would eventually find her place in the Jedi Order as she made friends.

"My father is a human." She said. It wasn't a huge secret but it wasn't on her records within the Chiss, she was just marked as a Chiss. She doubted that the Chiss had told them much after all Kai had seemed taken off guard when they met.

He sat back and out his hands in the sand.

"So was mine! Another we have in common. You see, me and you...we are aren't that different, you know? Your father is a human...my father is a human. You like sitting on the beach...I like sitting...well anywhere really. Your a Jedi...I am a Jedi. You are with family now Zian. The others won't see what your people may have or may not have done. They see you."

He stood brushing the sand off his hands and then his clothes. He flattened out his pants and then his tunic.

"If you are anything like I was when I was your age...You also enjoy eating. Another thing I am "Master" of." he ended with a chuckle.

"What do you say? We can eat some lunch and then you can go back to your classes?

She kind of eyed him a little. "You've been a Jedi since you were ten?" She asked. She knew some things about Jedi, just not a lot. She hadn't really seen any children. She knew other species were not like hers, but it was still good to see them. Zian got up, she didn't brush herself off, she wanted something else on her for once that wasn't ice or snow.

As the young Padawan eyed him Reland laughed.

"Something like that. I am not THAT old!" He replied. He never felt old until he spoke with a child.

They continued to walk across the beach towards one of the new secret entrances that had been added under the direction of one of the other Jedi Masters. Reland was glad to see they no longer used the underwater caves anymore, he hated diving down that deep.

"I think you will find that there a quite a number of children your age with the Jedi. They just may not be at this base right now, you see this only a part of our numbers. We are small, but growing fast."

They entered the cave. The air always seemed so cold to Reland after exiting from the sunlight. He doubted it bothered Zian at all. The outpost only had a small room dedicated to distributing food, and only during meal times, it was simple, but Reland was used to simple. They often had fish and some type of local fruit of vegetable, and he doubted today wouldn't be an exception. He let girl go in line in front of him.

"So tell me Zian, What have you learned of the Jedi since you have arrived?" He asked. He wasn't expecting much, but hoped the Padawan had learned something in her short stay. Padawans had to learn quickly these days.

"Sense, basic lightsaber skills, and..well I seem to be able to create light though that is not something I can control. Those were on the ship, there hasn't been anything I have learned here yet." Zian said. When they reached the food it all looked odd to her, she didn't know what would taste good and what wouldn't such foods were not on her world. "Can I have one of everything or at least a little piece?" She asked. She didn't want to be greedy, but she just wasn't sure about how such things worked here.

OOC: The travel thread is still on going so she may learn more.

He listened as the Padawan listed on the skills she had been working on. He was glad to hear she had been working on both lightsaber and force skills. Often times Jedi focused to much on skills with a blade and forgot that the essence of being a Jedi is their connection with the Force.

After the Padawan got her tray of food. He took his tray from a Padawan who was about 15 years of age.

"Here ya go, Master Gil" the girl said as she handed him the tray.

"Why thank you very much" he said warmly, giving the girl a smile as he turned to leave the line.

They began to make there way to the main hall where all of the eating was done.

"And what of the Jedi Code? Have you been studying that?" he asked

It was something that was, at times, overlooked, but Reland was a stickler for tradition. If the girl had not be taught about the code he would do so.

'Code?' She thought. The chiss had a code of conduct and discipline, as far as Jedi code..."I have not been told." She said. Kai had been training her from the start pretty much since they got on his ship. There wasn't any mention of a code. Zian took a seat and started to test food, she would start with some fruit first. It looked good, but she wasn't sure if it was. There was no emotion on her face if she liked it or not, but she kept eating which was a good sign.

They sat down and began eating

"The Jedi Code is like our code of conduct. It guides us in making decisions. I will give you the Jedi Code, and you can spend the next few days thinking about it. I plan on holding a class in a few days on this very topic where we will discuss it further, but for now, here is the code:

"Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy.
Jedi use the Force only for the pursuit of knowledge, to defend, and to protect.
Jedi respect all life in the galaxy, in any form it may take.
Jedi to not rule others, but serve them for the welfare of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge, training, and self-discipline."

Just spend the next few days trying to remember it, and we can talk about it later. "

He turned to eating his meal. He would answer any questions the girl would have. He knew what it was like to be new, even though it had been so long ago. He hoped she would take the opportunity to attend the class.

***OOC: Here is the sign up for the class I was talking about!

She understood it was kind of the Jedi's guidelines or rules. She was used to following rules, no Chiss really broke them. Their were some exceptions, but in the end the rule they broke helped better the Chiss in the future. She didn't see how any of it would be an issue for her. Zian took a small bite of the fish it was OK, but not the greatest to her. However her face didn't show it, she would still eat it. After all nothing was wasted at home. "Are their other aliens in the order?" She asked. She was curious only thing she has met was humans.

"Iris had been listening to the two Jedi for a while. She was sitting down eating her food, when she saw the two enter she listened closely from the table away. Taking a bite of food, Iris smiled at the mention of different alien species. Iris speaks loud enough for them to hear, while still looking down at her tray. "Almost any intelligent alien species can become a Jedi, as long a they're force sensitive. " Iris then looks toward the two. "In fact you're looking at one, I'm an Epicanthix, one of the near human species." Finishing her food, she takes a handkerchief and whips her mouth elegantly. She walks toward the table and sit. "Lady Iris Elpida of Corellia, please to meet your acquaintance." She holds her hand out to both of them, in hopes of a hand shake.
