The Rau clan, unlike their brethren families, were not war bred machines. First entering the fold of Mandalorian culture during the First Crusading era, Clan Rau was created after the conquest of Concord Dawn, formed by the populations of several tight knit farming, logging, and mining communities who chose to swear fealty to their conquerors, House Vizsla and the Mand’alor, and adopt their customs and religion. Choosing to take the name of their region, The Rau Valley, the people of Clan Rau were hardy, salt of the earth folk. Farmers, miners, loggers, trappers, hunters and nerf herders, the people of Clan Rau were little accustomed to war but very well acquainted with hard work, hard living, and struggle.
When the war came to their people, several members of the Rau family took up arms and dove into the war effort, including Mia's mother and father. Left at home with her grandmother, she was forced to help out twice as much around their family's farm, doing most of the chores that included hard labor. But even as adult responsibilities took over her life, she still had a way of letting her childlike mind bloom. She'd grown up listening to tales of her people's greatest warriors and legends, and now with the war reports detailing victories of Mandalore, she dreamed of the day she'd be out there too fighting for justice alongside her parents. When she was out there in the fields, flying over the crops with hover vehicles, she pretended she was on own adventures, piloting starfighters on some moon against the evil Sith Empire.
Since Mia was essentially recognized as an adult in her culture, she was given permission to take the family speeder out for rides. The young teen was reckless, and loved every second of it. Along with dangerous space missions, Mia thought up racing scenarios in her head, where she'd plot out courses in asteroid fields, podracing tracks on Tattooine, and even swoop bike trails through forests. She did everything she could do take her mind off the rock she lived on. It wasn't all just for fun, however. Mia knew that if she were ever going to get permitted to fight alongside her brothers and sisters, she'd need to have at least some skill. The adults in her village would occasionally take her shooting along with the other younger generations, but she wasn't formally trained as some of her peers might have been in other clans.
Then came the deciding day. Now eighteen, Mia was free to leave her family's estate behind. Many of her clansfolk had come home anyways. The war was less and less prominent now to some Mandalorians, and there was even talk of a treaty once again between them and the ever growing Sith Empire. Mia didn't care. She'd spent her life on the sidelines and was now going to prove herself to her clan. Taking a ship to Umbara, Mia headed for The Shadow Enclave where she new a fellow Rau clan member was heading up an elite Mandalorian squad. Here, Mia would be given her chance to shine....

Mia Rau is eager to prove herself. She grew up essentially watching her family fight and die to protect her people and her home, all while she was back at home farming crops. It was a tedious life and Mia hated it. She was always fantasizing about being somewhere else and dreamed about being part of the resistance. She doesn't particularity crave fame and glory, more or less she's just motivated to be doing something worthwhile. Even if no one ever learns her name, she'd be happy just being out there and seeing the stars.
