Sir Edward MacDonald, the newly elected Prime Minister of Canada, formerly the Premier of Alberta, gained Parliament’s permission and grace to mobilize the Canadian military. This was done, due to matters such as the Georgian occupation and the Korean tensions, as well to the very recent invasion of the Ukraine. Sir MacDonald saw the protection of the Canadian mainland endangered, and the recent assassination of his popular predecessor, Prime Minister Ike Borden had rallied the people against an enemy, an unknown military.

Sir MacDonald planned to do this carefully. He was preparing for war, not that he had declared war, but he was just preparing. With Canada’s volunteer numbers low, Sir MacDonald felt them to low to fight any foe and their allies. With Parliament’s grace, conscription was placed into effect with the Military Service Act. All Canadian men, from ages 18-29 were ordered by the Canadian government to take duty in military service, with doctors, teachers, farmers, and other necessary civilians exempted.

The Canadian Navy was also mobilized, with 4 Victoria-class submarines, 4 Los Angeles-class submarines, 8 Iroquois-class destroyers, and 10 Kingston-class defense vessels armed and formed into the Arctic Fleet, under the newly established Arctic Fleet High Command. In addition, 50 Hind helicopters along with 750 F-35 fighter jets have been readied. With 3,437,000 conscripted men, he ordered that 1,000,000 soldiers be mobilized with the prepared task force, which was being organized at Baffin Island, away from the public eye.

((OOC: Um, you just agreed to a trade alliance with us and now you're declaring what's basically war?))

((OOC: Yeah, if you think declaring war on us will make us do anything but cancel the trade, that's a brilliant idea...))

While being stationed on Baffin Island for a few weeks, the one million man army that was made mostly of conscripted civilian men at Baffin Island, part of the Arctic Fleet's invasion force, had undergone boot camp training at Baffin Island. They were in better physical condition and had knowledge of how to use standard arms. Helped by Canadian Army regulars, the civilian force was now a somewhat adequate army by the standards of their American counterparts. Oil, food stuffs, Arctic gear, weaponry, and other combat and survival supplies were distributed to the soldiers.

The navy force was checked, double checked, triple checked, and checked again. All naval ships were readied with ammunition, men, gasoline, and other necessities. Aerial vehicles and land vehicles were also prepared and readied. Sir Edward MacDonald was pleased, and he felt that Canada, with their American brothers, stood a chance against Communist forces, with the declaration of the Commonwealth of Free States.

As the Canadian forces awaited for their Commonwealth allies to alert them of their readiness, the Canadian conscripted forces continued their training and drill exercises.
