Moff Council Clarifications

Moff.png

The [surl=http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/sith-empire-ranks-and-organization.64238/#post-1355022]Moff Council write-up[/surl] states that being Moff is solely a political position. For clarification:

The Moff Council used to be filled with characters that had their own flagships and troops, giving them the freedom over all the military forces that would exist on the planet they 'ruled over'. Post-timeskip, however, Moffs have no say over the military personnel on their planet and do not have unlimited resources at their disposal. They are the mouthpiece of Imperial Policy on a planet. They're like Republic Senators, but with less free will.

They're president, but not commander-in-chief. Planetary forces answer to generals and admirals, who answer to the Supreme Commander. It is possible to be Moff of an entire system (or sector) instead of just a single planet, but that doesn't necessarily make you a Grand Moff.

To become a Grand Moff you cannot just be a brilliant politician, but you'll need to show military prowess and achieve victory as well. It is therefore common they're also (former) generals and admirals. There are only four Grand Moffs:
Grand Moff of the Tion Cluster
Grand Moff of Sith Space
Grand Moff of the Core
Grand Moff of the (remaining) Rim systems
It is not possible to claim the title of Grand Moff for anything else than these four.

Until today we've been very lenient in permitting our Moffs to break with this write-up. From now on we'll be paying closer attention to them actually being played as intended and characters that fail to abide by the spirit of their position will get fired. Moff characters are also not allowed to be Force-sensitive. FS-Moffs will therefore likewise be (retroactively) fired from their position.

Let me stretch that signing up to be a Moff is not a quick way to get your character in power. A Moff has no actual power regarding the war with the Jedi Army or the Mandalorian Dominion. It is a niche within the Star Wars world to roleplay politics within the Empire.

The current Convocation of Moffs thread is voided. From now on Sith leadership will initiate Moff Council Meetings.

Do you have a Moff you still want to RP after this more strict approach? Please post here with your character's name and the planet/system/sector they oversee to get an invite to the next meeting. Please do not post Force-sensitives or Grand Moffs other than the four mentioned above.

I don't have a moff. But
but you'll need to show military prowess and achieve victory as well

Don't these clauses contradict kind of each other? I'm confused. It says you need need military prowess and victory to be Grand Moff, but Moff's don't have military power since it's just a political position?

Unless we are sending our Moffs into battle like Legionaries

I made the distinction between:
A Moff, and
A Grand Moff

For your Moff to become a Grand Moff it needs to show military prowess and achieve victory. It can do this by also joining the Imperial Legion and participating in PvP battles (through either personal combat or Tactical Battles). While you can be both, (a commander and a Moff) it should be noted that your military power is tied to your rank within the legion (i.e.
commander or general). A Commander, which is the rank you start with, only commands 100 to 300 stormtroopers (and not the thousands of soldiers and artillery a planet would garrisson)

I hope that clears up the confusion.

Eh, even with the rank of Admiral, I'm not interested in playing politics anymore. My aim is to (hopefully) become a Grand Admiral, which would mean surrendering any Moff title I might hold anyway.

So you can cross Anya off the list. She hates politics anyway.

To be clear then, am I still allowed to hold rank in the Imperial legion while being a Moff?

Yes.

Just so long you understand that your command over stormtroopers comes from you rank within the Imperial Legion and not from being a Moff.

Cool, I'll stick around with Ryker then, just to see where this goes.

The clarity is helpful. I appear to have been invited to the new thread already, but for completeness Austin Viett would like to retain his title as Grand Moff of the Tion Cluster. I understand and acknowledge that any military forces he commands from time to time are commanded in his capacity as an Admiral in the Imperial Legion. Should he ever attain Grand Admiral rank, his Grand Moff title would have to be surrendered.

His title of Grand Moff was conveyed by the Emperor (@Malon ) in recognition of military prowess, so I presume that's still all good notwithstanding the clarification.

Here's to many a successful Moff Council meeting.
