  • Biography

"She is not of our blood. A clanless vagabond."

"She has a name. Marion, Sarenasdottir."

Born on the frigid planet of Rhen Var to an unknown father and single mother, Marion is a prime example of the Varite people. A roaming outcast since birth, she and her mother survived among the wilderness as was custom of clanless denizens. On the eve of her 16th birthday, Marion and her mother witnessed what they believed to be a falling star, streaking down from orbit and striking the frozen tundra. Curiosity and spirituality inspired them to investigate, thus discovering a crashed starship once destined for Mos Espaa, Tatooine. There were few survivors, human Mercenaries whose misfortune had cost them dearly, along with various clanless Varites who swarmed from their hearths in search of the very same star. Their Varite hosts, Marion included, nursed the men back to health and learned that they where not, in fact, warriors of the Great Wolf, but correlian travellers from a distant planet. This revelation changed how Marion viewed her home and the galaxy at large, instilling in her the will to fly across the oceans of space as these men once had.

    "A haven for clanless folk?!"

"No, sir. They are clanless no longer. Welcome to the Espaa clan."

A community began to develop between the Correlians and Varites, they themselves began to bond as a clan would. Taking the name of Espaa from the ship's travel logs, they became the mock family Marion never had. Buildings where erected and life had become easier for her and her mother. It was at this time the idea of repairing the escape pod was placed into motion, and so Marion volunteered to help scavenge the wasteland for the required parts. Over time, her natural attunement to the Force became apparent, prompting the survivors to teach her about conjurers who used these powers for good. Many feared er latent gifts, but most accepted them as a welcome protection for the Clan. At the age of 18, her mother, now the clan Matriarch, named her Daughter of the Great Wolf, Protector of the Espaa clan.

"I will take this vessel to the stars, and bring help. That I promise you."

"Blessings be with you, Marion Vargsdottir."

The completion of the escape pod took years, and with it came an ominous question; who would the clan send to the stars? The Correlian clansmen knew there was only one answer. Someone young and tenacious enough to survive, backed by the mystical gifts of the Great Wolf and filled with their own technical knowledge of the craft. Marion's quest became known, and on that night she launched into space, beyond the boundaries of Rhen Var, and for the first time saw the galaxy as it was. Travelling across the stars as an envoy of her clan and people, Marion's ultimate goal is betterment for her clan. How she will achieve that, however, is yet to be seen.

ALACRITY

AFFILIATION
Rhen Var, Correlia, Marion

MANUFACTURER
Smith Durren Espaa

SIZE
30 inches

WEIGHT
1.3kg
COMPOSITION
Wood, Durasteel, Cortosis Coating

WEAPON TYPE
Sword

DAMAGE TYPE
Melee

DESCRIPTION
This sword is a standard arming sword, with exception to it's creation and runes. Alacrity is a single-handed sword, adorned with a wide fuller down the length of the blade. Standing at 30 inches, the blade is primarily meant for stabing as opposed to slashing. The craftsman made certain to put emphasis on balanced weight, garnering a total weight of 3lbs. The hilt hold a lobed pommel decorated with a silver wire inlay. Across the very beginnings of the blade reads "Alacrity" in Varite Runes, common symbols used as a form of written language on the planet. It is unique, however, in that it can stand up to even the energy blows of a lightsaber, albeit for a short amount of time.
LEGALITY
The weapon is legal in all systems when it is openly worn. Some systems, however, may find concealing the weapon to be illegal. As it is not a difficult weapon to conceal, considering it's size in relativity to long-swords.

INTENT
This is a basic write up for my OC's sword to clarify it's capabilities.

ADVANCED TECH
YES. To somehow claim this weapon you would have to have it gifted to you by Marion or take it off her corpse. There are no exceptions. Presumably, you could go to the Espaa smithy on Rhen Var and request your own forged, assuming you have the supplies.

Marion is laying mishapen in a cell, taken from her escape pod. A strange insectoid creature stands over her, begging her to wake.

Marion awoke with a start as her body was shaken violently. To her surprise, a strange insectoid creature bid her awaken.

"Wake up! Please don't be a corpse..."

Beside herself, she backed up rapidly, only to find the edge of the small, rusting cage. Quickly looking around the room, she could see that this makeshift brig was filled with prisoners. Two guards were still present in the room, causing Marion to begin strategizing.

To her frustration, there were almost no objects in the room that could be used as weapons. Even if she got out of the cage, there was no way to tell if she would survive the fight with these mysterious armored figures.

"Why am I here? Why have I been taken?"

"You're a slave now girl. Better to obey them and bide your time."

"Have you accepted defeat already? We can escape!"

"That is a nice dream. But hope does not survive this place for long. Be silent, do as you're told. You might survive."

"By my mother's will, all causes shall give way."

Kathreveris Van Alasdaire (commonly known as Lady Van Alasdaire or Kathry) is a member of Vahl's Chosen, fighting for the Goddess until her planet's ultimate destruction. Her dedication to the Embers of Vahl is as legendary as her grandfather before her, and it was the crux that allowed her entrance to the Sith Order. She seeks to prevent her father, the one formerly known as Eiric Van Aladaire, from destroying the Embers and bringing light to a Galaxy meant for chaos.

_

Biography

Born the daugher of Lord Eiric Van Alasdaire, one of Vahl's Chosen and one of her many lovers, Kathreveris was raised to believe she was born to inherit her bloodline's power, and surpass them all. As she was the daugher of the Goddess directly, she was never raised among the other Vahla children, and instead underwent a modified upbringing, one much harsher than any beforehand. Vahl ensure her daughter's life was filled with nothing but misery, distrust and hatred. Manipulating her into believing the Goddess, her mother, was the only one she could truly trust. The damage to her mind was premanent, and Vahl's influence still permeates her actions to this day, despite the Goddess' apparent demise.

She did not see her father very often, his responsibilities as the ruler of Othya, a coastal city-state, kept him occupied and often away from the Basilica she called home. This was likewise by design, as Vahl knew her lover had an extremely kind heart when it came to his family, and could not allow him to interfere with the girl's training. When they did meet, it was almost always under manipulated circumstances, so that Kathry looked much more upbeat and positive than she actually was. The strategy worked flawlessly, as the girl's natural happiness in seeing her father was no deception at all.

It was not until her father began corresponding with a gladiator turned revolutionary that Kathry finally realized her purpose. She traveled to her ancestral home, introducing herself to her grandparents and informing them of their son, her father, and his betrayals. To her surprise, Anton Van Alasdaire claimed his son had done what was honorable, and attacked her in a bid to join him. Likewise, the Pheonix of Vahla and her grandmother, Vesta, joined her husband against their granddaughter. The power of the Van Alasdaire was placed on full display, their ancestral home was burnt to nothingness in the ensuing conflict. However, her connection to Vahl was much stronger than that of her kin, and the woman found herself alone among the corpses of her family.

This pleased her mother to no end, observing from afar as Kathry scorched her own armor and left her sword in the homestead, allowing Eiric to believe her dead. The war that followed was bloody and brutal, as Varg and Eiric mounted ever-increasing assaults on cities still held by the Embers. During this time she was promoted to her the rank of Vahl's Chosen and oversaw several assassinations, combat missions, and spy work. Her deeds earned her even further status as the war reached its final days.

Knowing that her opponents had a good chance of victory, the Crimson Queen sent her daughter far from Vahla before the final battle ever commenced, biding her to take a freighter filled with their dead to a remote planet and hide them there. With her was sent a text of historical and religious information about the Embers of Vahl, in the circumstance that they should be destroyed and Kathry rebuild. The planet mustafar was the farthest the woman ever got, entombing many of the Vahla dead deep in the planet's fiery caverns and formations. The tomb has since become a weak vergence of the Dark Side, with the crypt's guardian entombed with her dead for a the better part of a year. When Alekto did not arrive to collect her and time senses began to betray her, driving her to the brink of madness, she entered a coffin of her own volition, placing the book on her chest, and entered a force-induced coma, where she remained to this day.

"I'll rend you apart, shoulder-blade to hip-bone!"

Personality and traits

To anyone who just met Lady Van Alasdaire, it would appear as those she was a woman out of place. Though she is quite naturally charismatic, as all her kin had been before her, relearning the basics of life in the Galaxy clearly plays in to the oddities in her character. Although abnormal and striking in the extreme, her unnatural habits and appearance leads many to avoid her. Despite this fact, she exhibits the charm of a dancer and the authority of a Mistress. In her capacity as Vahl’s Chosen, she is known to be extremely adept at intimidating those in her presence passively. Her eyes, like all who had delved deep into Vahl, possesses a smoking and fiery gaze, her crimson eyes tainted by the Darkness, only adding to the strangeness of her appearance.

Kathry’s sense of morality is surprisingly strong for one so tainted, though she wholeheartedly believes that ends justify the means. She will make exceptions to her morality so long as her goals are achieved, though she is not usually unnecessarily cruel. Those who disobey her or earn her ire are, like all things, exceptions to this rule.

Unlike the vast majority of Vahla and Sith alike, she shares her family’s legacy for preferring to remain second in command. Though she is capable of taking the role of a General or high ranking officer, but only does so when there is nobody else available to take command. She vastly prefers the independence and tasks required as another’s weapon on the battlefield. Like all Embers before her, Kathry was trained solely to serve the Goddess in any and all capacities, most commonly as a soldier and warrior of the Darkness. Her natural affinity to pyromancy and the Force only served to bolster her ruthless precision in all walks of life.

Powers and abilities

The first thing that anyone with an inkling of wonder about her combat skills should do, is allow somebody else to try her patience first. There are very few species so naturally attuned to fire, and her skills in pyromancy reflect this to any and all observers. Likewise, her connection to the Dark Side of the Force makes her a formidable opponent within the supernatural sphere - but even without the aide of the Force, she is deadly.

When she was younger, the High Priestess loved to quote a single Vahlan proverb, “If you cannot fight without your weapon, then you should not be fighting at all.” Kathry lives by this saying in all walks of life, never relying on any one tool to achieve victory, but finding a skilled balance between all her abilities. The Force is no exception, and even without it’s aide she can dispatch her opponents with martial prowess alone. Having been trained by the same legendary swords-woman as her father, Alekto, she is quite capable when utilizing a melee weapon in battle. Though she is more versed in swordplay than polearms, she has currently taken up use of the Van Alasdaire’s ancestral weapon, Grimmsvr, using the halberd with deadly grace.

Honor is a fools errand. In battle, there are no rules, no morality with which to restrict. This is how the Vahla fights, and it is proven in every battle she has ever fought, and all battles she will enter from here on in. Once she is given a task, challenged to a duel, or set on a target; there is nothing in the Galaxy short of death that will prevent her from achieving her goals. She would walk into the Grand Temple on Jedha alone if requested, suicide or not, with nothing more than a simple reply.

By the Goddess’ Command.
