So the game was released early in some places, and there are videos online of the whole story mode.

holy.goddamn.shit

So many characters killed off! wtf but it's cool that the guys behind the game had the balls to kill all those characters off. It was also pretty sweet to see Cyrax and Sektor as humans.

This leads me to believe the next MK will be Earthrealm vs Netherrealm -- but who's on whose side? I get Quan Chi, Shinnok and Scorpion, and Raidan, Cage, and Sonya, but what about everyone else?

There's actually a story to these games?

There is some interesting pieces in the story itself. I mean Mortal Kombat never spawned from mindless violence (In a sense >.>). I am happy to see though that the game has reverted to the older style.

The majority of their stories seem to revolve around the characters dieing.

Yes, though it was sorta hard to follow until Deception came out. This is sorta of a reboot though, though still a sequel to Armageddon at the same time.

Agreed.

Yeah, but it's proven fact that no one stays dead in Mortal Kombat forever.

Ed Boon admitted that the series hasn't had a serious story, so they decided to make this game something of a sequel-prequel.

This is the backstory:

Raidan sends a message back to his past self (in MK1) and warns him of the coming Armageddon, and that he must find a way to prevent it. The result is a storymode similar to the storymode in MK vs DC.

Aye, he does so because Shao Khan defeats everyone and was the ruler of the Realms. Either way, I'm glad that this is getting a good story, as fighting games usualy lack these or have somewhat of a poor one.

So I got the Kollectors Edition, and it's quite a fun game. Obviously it's one of the most violent games I've played, as some of the X-ray moves are cringing. Story is actualy pretty cool, and how it's all altered from the original MK 1,2 and 3 stories.

Like...

How Smoke is saved from becoming a cyborg, and instead it's Sub-Zero who becomes one.

Also as Enishi said it, I was shocked on how many are killed, though found it annoying that Sindel killed a majority of them singlehandedly at once. Jax, Kitana, Jade, Stryker, Kabal, Smoke and Cyber Sub-Zero... sounds like a stupid thing to me. So they've got to do something if they make a Mortal Kombat 2(10). Though like I said, no one stays dead forever in the Mortal Kombat universe.

So far though, I'm really enjoying the game now that it's back to it's old school layout. Scorpion, Kabal, Raiden and Stryker have to be my favorites so far.

Anyone else got this game or are planning on getting it?
