What? You've never heard of Mount & Blade? That's ok, I found it through steam. Its good stuff. Think Sid Meir's Pirates in a medieval setting where you can go around and fight in massive battles. It was developed by 8 people.
The premise is you are an outlander, and a mercenary, after building up a force of men, you can join one of the five factions and eventually own castles and towns. Siege combat is pretty fun, and the game is extremely open ended. Its pretty good for a cheap game. Yes, the graphics arn't top of the line. I chalk it up to the slowdown it would cause during sieges.
Don't take my word for it, check it out! The demo allows you to play up until level 8 or 1 month game time. If thats not enough.... just restart with a new charector. If you have any questions let me know, Ive been playing for a little while now. Good stuff!
