Rayne, who was under the guise of Kyra Katal, a rodian private detective had just arrived to the scene of a murder. A Weequay man lay in the middle of the street, apparently from a self inflicted blaster shot wound to the head.

Rayne surveyed the scene, her death stick giving off a solid stream of smoke as she did so. The local beat cops had already begun to set up a barricade to keep the populus at bay, reporters in the distance already clicking their cameras, and trying to get any officer in ear shot to answer questions.

Rayne stepped up to the body, a standard looking Weequay, the species was just the physical embodiment of the appearance of pirates and brigands, it might of been a bit racist to be thinking this already, but as any detective knows, you have to take in all the information available.

She began looking for more clues, her partner @Lost Hero should be along shortly, but Rayne thought it'd be best to get started as soon as possible, before any evidence found it's way from the scene.

Leaning down for a closer look, Rayne observed the blaster wound to the mans head, her long tan trench coat hanging over her silhouette, the popped collar leading almost all the way up to her standard noir style hat.

Hmm... Rayne said quietly, listening to the foot falls behind her of someone approaching her directly, it was likely her partner in this investigation, and without standing up, or turning around Rayne said to her partner, or whoever was coming, Take a look at this.. pointing at the forward direction of the blaster wound, likely indicating the shot came from a very close shot, but also at an angle that would place the blaster in the mans hand behind his own shoulder.

Flerr was nervous. His mind was racing a mile a minute though his body lay still. His nerves were turning to paranoia as he went over everything again. He had a solid alibi. If anyone asked back at training camp, he’d say he had some endorsement deals to consider, he had gotten one of his teammates to believe his story, so he also had a witness just in case. He had a large canister of black body paint, which he had coated over his entire body including his face, to ensure no distinguishing features would be visible. Especially his distinct tattoos. On top of that he wore clothing which left no exposed skin, adding a second layer of concealment. Most importantly, he had a helmet to conceal his face, it would do nothing to actually protect his head but it serves its purpose. It would hide his identity.

He knew he had to start small, if he was going to take on larger criminal activities, he would have to test out his skills on smaller business first. Thankfully, he had received a tip from a Rodian about a potential case. It was the perfect opportunity, if anything came of it. It could just be a massive waste of time. When he neared the scene he made sure to stay in a nearby alley, not approaching the scene himself. Instead he sent his droid, Scrimms, ahead. A masked stranger would never get past the authorities already present, if anything they’d become a suspect. But a droid on the other hand was almost always ignored. So Scrimms made his way forward, clanking his feet along towards the Rodian.

Scrimms bent down to get a better look, his odiar sensors clicking and whirring as they refocused. “Ah I see. Yes, this dude is very dead. Not radical. Hi, the name Brody McTwist, but I don’t think you’re waiting around for me. My bro-master told me to pass along a message to you my muchacha. He said “The Scion Waits ‘Til Five O’Clock”. Whatever the heck that means, am I right?” Flerr was watching from the alley, peeking his head around the corner to keep an eye on the exchange. He hoped the Rodian would get the cue and figure out where he was so they could meet away from prying eyes of the law.

Rayne stood up straight, eyed the metal man right in it's face. This was unexpected.. Rayne thought, and shot a slow cursory glance to just short of her flank. Peeking out from an alleyway, she saw a helmet just in time for it to duck back behind cover, this was odd.. Rayne wanted to approach the man, but she also wanted to pick up all the clues first, what to do.. she silently asked herself.

Returning her attention to the droid, I'll be along in just a moment.. she said, and bent back down to the body. Using a gloved hand, Rayne pushed the blaster out of the dead man's hand, Interesting.. she said aloud, and looked the rest of the scene over again, taking in all of the information she could before walking to the darkened alleyway to meet her contact.

Taking a long drag from her death stick, Rayne crossed the threshold of the alley, and leaned back against the wall of the building. In a shadow nearby she could tell a presence existed, Scion, I presume? She said, appearing to focus more on her death stick than before, making sure to keep her voice low so as not to advertise to any potential on lookers that she was speaking.

We got us a problem here.. Rayne started, The beats called this a suicide.. she said, pausing for a moment, They're wrong.. of course.. she went on, The wound itself is directional, he was shot from behind and to the side, also.. There's some blood spatter on the inside of his hand, under the blaster. It was put in his hand after her was shot.. Rayne relayed the information slowly, and quietly, We have a homicide on our hands.. She said flicking what little remained of her death stick.

Looking over for the first time to the shaded man, she appraised him. He was trying his best to remain hidden, and to be honest if she hadnt already known his location, it's likely she would have missed him.

Flerr made sure to look presentable, standing at attention. It was something he was used to doing and it conveyed a certain level of seriousness. He noticed the Rodian was partaking in a little deathstick action. As a professional athlete, he’d never waste away his own body like that. But he couldn’t care less if someone else did, he sure as hell wasn't going to be the one to talk someone out of addiction. As she addressed him he nodded as confirmation and said plainly “Hello, Detective.” He listened intently as she broke down the limited information she had at that point. He nodded along like he was understanding, which to be fair t was rather simple, but he wanted to make sure he didn’t look as clueless as he felt. He awkwardly realized he should probably say something of value at this point now that the Rodian was finished. He approached so he’d be within earshot and spoke.

He said in a low Outer Rim accent to further muddle his identity
“So, who’s the victim? Any criminal record? Family, friends, coworkers? Any potential lead on who would want to kill him and why? From what you’ve said it doesn’t sound like a professional hit by any means. Sounds more personal, or at the very least low level crooks. Any local gangs you know of in the area? Obviously I defer to your experience and knowledge in this regard, Detective.”

Rayne flicked on her data pad, the screen streaming in tons of information, vics name is Aloric Matis, some petty thefts nothing major, family's a dead end, nobody planetside, and this doesn't seem like a professional hit, so the killer is probably still on the ground somewhere.. hold on.. Rayne stopped as she reread something on the screen.

He's got a sealed piece of his criminal record.. Rayne said in frustration as she began to hack into the file. She wasn't any good at the whole computer hacking thing, but she was fantastic at espionage, so she had passwords for several high ranking enforcement officers, all she had to do was log in under someone who probably had access to the file, Got it.. she exclaimed, her short celebration ended quickly when her face contorted and she frustratedly tapped on the data pad. It's... it's.. empty? Whatever had been in the file was now gone, erased completely. Rayne was flabbergasted, her best lead so far, gone in the blink of an eye, This stinks of corruption.. she said.

One of the officers had begun walking toward her, out of the side of her mouth, and quietly, but just loud enough for her dark colored vigilante friend to hear, Hold on, we're about to have company.. before the beat cop was within range.

Officer.. Rayne said, her sense of rank obvious. Detective, we're gonna be wrapping this up quick, if ya wanna take another look before we do? The man said. Yea, yea, will do, give me just a minute. Rayne replied.

Once he was gone, Rayne continued the conversation, We might have a lot more on our plate than a simple hit and run..

An off’ed criminal. Wouldn’t be anything major, almost be worthy of a good riddance from Flerr’s perspective. But a wiped record changed everything. It made the petty thief immediately more important. And not just important to them, important to someone who themselves were important. This all seemed very... important. Curse his mind’s limited vocabulary. He was never going to need a synonym for shockball, or score, or win. He heard her warning just in time and made a break for it. In quick succession he did an impressive vertical leap by pedestrian standards but just above standard for his level of athletic play, and used his upper body strength to scramble to the rooftop before the officer got to the Rodian. Meanwhile Scrimms just stared at him as he ascended “Sick.” He waves off his droid, pointing to the approaching cop. Thankfully Scrimms looked away so as not to draw attention to Flerr.

After the exchange was done Flerr dropped down from his perch once more, relieved.
“What was that last part? I didn’t hear you, I was up there. Anyways, what’s the plan? What lead you wanna follow? We could search the area and try to find the killer, maybe see who they were working for. Or maybe we could head back to whatever place your boys do business and see if you can figure out who tampered with the file last.”

Let's do both.. Rayne said as she stood up from the wall she'd been leaning against, you toss the local lowlifes for information, and I'll roll the big house to see if I can't see who knows what.. I'm guessing you can handle that, yea? Rayne finished.

Rayne made her way over to the body, one last look, maybe she'd missed something, after all she hadn't been given much time, and the quickness of this was also suspicious, it was clear there was something corrupt going on, maybe someone in the higher ups was wrapped up in something far more nefarious..

Eyeing over the present officers, Rayne couldn't read any nervousness, either whoever was involved was good at keeping their calm, or they weren't here. Either way, Rayne needed to find out.

Heading back to her squad speeder, Rayne hopped in, punching the accelerator a moment later and booking it to the enforcement center. Something was up on old Myrkr, crisp air flowed in through the open window as the smoke from Rayne's cigarette wafted back out of it.
