Sionann hadn't had an opportunity like this in a long time. The opportunity to show someone brand new the ways of the Jedi and of the Force, well at least the ways of the Force. While staying true to the side of the light, the sage knight could not help but find shadows of her pathway growing in size. After all, when one is preparing for war against a powerful enemy, one should use all the tools at their disposal as they were meant to. Still, in this preparation it was best to also make sure a new class could defend themselves.

It was one of her many sojourns to Theed where she first ran into Alaisia Kellawryn, the displaced Corellian human was certainly familiar from the records she possessed from the previous evacuation of the two now fallen temples. The Padawan was exceedingly new to pretty much...well everything. While not officially adopting her as one of several padawans that she has had over the months as f yet, Sionann knew that Alaisia needed to be armed with what knowledge she could utilize immediately. The Jedi Way would take a second seat to learning the Ways of the Force, Lightsaber, and Survival. Also, Sionann was never the one to ask for history lessons unless they involved the vast depths that was the ocean of power known as the Force.

They were traveling together far away from civilization, in the deep woods of Naboo, the deep lush treeline providing cover so they could perform their work. Sionann had picked this spot in particular because that hill was nearby, the place where the monster she saw within herself was set free that one time. It was on her mind a lot these days, and despite all that has happened over the past near twelve years, she has still not set on foot on that darkened soil since that day.

Dressed in her usual exotic tunic dress, sleeves, and thigh boots, Sionann was vision of blues and off whites against the green and earthy setting. Her feet lightly touched upon the ground while the large canvas bag she held over her shoulder clanked with a metallic sound. Azure eyes looked back to see that Neve had wandered off the path, but could still feel the giant cat's gaze keeping a close eye on them, and more so if anyone was following.

"I am going to teach you what I can," The sage knight finally spoke as the two emerged into a secluding clearing, one that happened to have a nice calm stream flowing through it, and several large rocks strewn about. "You are walking this road at a dangerous time, Padawan Kellawryn, while you must learn, there are some facets of our ways you will have to learn on your own. I do hope you understand."

It was a statement that really didn't need to be said, but she said it anyway.

Alaisia followed Sionann, excitement bubbling within her. The sage knight had caught her by surprise as she had been wandering around by herself as she tried to make out just where she had been brought. She didn't remember much about the escape from the temple, but that's what made it just that much more important that she learn to defend herself. She didn't have a lightsaber or any other sort of weapon, so the Force would have to be her way to defend herself.

As they entered the clearing, Alaisia noticed a stream and several rocks that she knew through experience could be used if absolutely necessary. But Sionann wasn't her enemy. She had promised to train Alaisia, and training was what they would do.

"I am going to teach you what I can," The sage knight finally said. "You are walking this road at a dangerous time, Padawan Kellawryn, while you must learn, there are some facets of our ways you will have to learn on your own. I do hope you understand."

"I understand," Alaisia said, smiling. Her entire life had been one big race to get away. She was tired of running. "I'm ready."

Sionann took the large canvas bag off of her shoulders and set it down near one of the large rocks by the stream. She pulled a set of large wrappings from within the bag and unfolded it slowly onto the ground in an almost ceremonious matter. "The Jedi strive to be one with the Force," Hilts of silver splayed out with each turn of the wrappings on the ground. It is through the Force we are able to perform the impossible, understand the unexplainable, and prevent the inevitable," There were four hilts in all. There were a standard lightsaber hilt, a long-handled one, and two shoto all glistening in the afternoon light, their training blades silent, begging to be chosen. "We defend those who cannot defend themselves, keep order in the Galaxy, and seek to understand our enemies and why they are the way they are." She finished that last statement by pulling her own training saberstaff next to the two shoto. The silver haired knight slowly stood back up while pulling from the bag a long hilt that was wrapped in a dark metal and crystal design giving it a beautiful yet powerful impression. The lightsaber of her first master was what Sionann would use for training this day, it's heavy weight the perfect handicap, and powerful blade the perfect teacher.

"Stand there," She pointed several feet ahead gesturing for Alasia to stand facing the lightsabers she had just placed out. This is where there training was to really begin. "You see b..before you several different designs of lightsaber. By the time you finish this first lesson, one or two of those will be in your hands, and they shall be the weapons you favor," Sionann was never a fan of starting with only the basic hilt like she had been, as not everyone favored the same type of blade. "Each of them have their strengths and weaknesses, and you will discover them, but right now I want you to take a deep breath. Remember any training you received on hearing the Force, feeling it, it is everywhere. Place your focus on the hilt that you believe is your choice, and breathe from here, and reach for it without moving your legs."

It was a lot of information all at once, but Sionann needed to get Alasia into a state where she could practice as soon as possible. She also wanted to see just how much the younger woman actually knew, as that would set the pace for the rest of the day.

Alaisia took a deep breath, focusing on the feel of the Force around her. She could feel her own pulse within the Force, but she could also feel the pull of something else. She closed her eyes, focusing on that pull, and let the Force guide her toward the training saber that she would start with. She leaned down, still letting the Force guide her, and reached out until her fingers brushed cold metal. She opened her eyes to see her hand barely touching the hilt of the standard lightsaber.

She glanced at the other sabers, liking the look of the two shotos, but she would not deny where the Force had led her. She looked at Sionann before picking up the saber. So this was where her training would begin.

Sionann couldn't help but let a little smile escape her lips at this point. Alaisia did know more than was to be expected and that was good, as she watched the standard training hilt fly into the padawan's hand. The sage knight then turned her hilt and gestured the point at one of the large rocks.

"Good, now remember it is not just for calling your blade that you can perform this skill," Sionann remarked towards Alaisia. "Pull that rock towards you. It is the very same as if you would pull your weapon."

Alaisia used the same power she had felt when choosing her lightsaber, feeling with the Force toward the rock. She pulled at the rock but, when it slid just a little, she lost her focus and it stopped. Her feeling of slight satisfaction gone, she forced herself to focus again and try once more. The second time, she managed to lift the rock a little before it wobbled and tumbled to the ground.

"It's hard," she murmurs, mostly to herself.

Sionann watched the rock rise, and fall, pull and stop. She sighed a little bit feeling the defeated emotions of the padawan. The talent was there, the knowledge, now it was time to move beyond the physical limitations.

"It is only hard because you believe it is," The sage knight shook her head hearing the words from Alaisia, her own voice calm and cool. "The Force is everywhere, it's power and energy beyond our wildest dreams. That rock weighs nothing, is nothing to the Force. Look beyond its size, beyond it's density, focus and pull again."

Alaisia nodded, looking again to the rock. She forced herself to forget about how big it was, how heavy it truly was. It wouldn't matter to the Force. She focused, trying to lift the rock yet again, and was surprised to find it pull toward her easier this time. She let it fall about a foot in front of her, stepping back as it rolled on impact, and looked again to Sionann.

Alasia looked over to Sionann to see her nodding in approval. The sage knight gestured with her lightsaber at the rock that had just rolled to the padawan. "Place it back now, push it back to where it belongs, as if it was never moved." She was doing this for a very important reason which she did explain. "For as vast as the power of the Force is, we must remember it is not our place to lord its use over anyone. It gives us the power to protect those who cannot protect themselves, to preserve peace in the Galaxy, and fight those who abuse its might. Never forget, you are a protector not a conqueror."

Sionann knew that this wasn't entirely her belief when it came to the Force, knew it wasn't her much more neutral way, but it was true that she didn't use the Force in the method she described. The sage knight thought about it for a moment while she encouraged the padawan to go back to performing the task. What do I really believe? She never really thought too deeply on the nature of the Jedi code rather paying a surface attention to it. Always drawn to the allure of the Force's great mysteries was her path. Sioannan had always been that way, trying to strive for greater depths than anyone around her. To her the Force was pure energy, a power that could be turned light or dark by those using it. She never saw her place as the protector, nor as the conqueror, perhaps she would be coming to that crossroad sooner or later. Light is dark and dark is light, An old mantra she repeated in her head. Light blinds, dark envelopes, both are the same, between them is the narrow path. Each pull you to their side, each wants you for their purpose, touch one and the other pulls that much greater. That it is my belief on the use of the Force, but what about those who wield it? Which side am I on?

It was at this point if Alaisia was continuing any training she would notice her teacher staring straight ahead, azure eyes not focused on anything in particular, but rather they seemed to be gazing off into the distance at objects that could have been light years away. Either way it was Sionann had become lost in thought.

Alaisia nodded and turned back to the boulder, Pushing it backwards. It took the same focus as pulling it had, but it was easier this time and soon the boulder was sitting back in its original position. She thought on what Sionann had told her. She was a protector. She had been told that before by others who were to train her, guiding her on the path towards being a Sentinel. It was what she wanted, to have a chance to help those around her. To heal and have the strength to protect.

Sionann shook her head back into reality when the boulder went back to its place with a crack, and she nodded in approval, coming back into their training. "The basic usage of the Force stems from the pushing and pulling of its energy, She instructed further, lowering her long-handled lightsaber, now with both hands holding the crystalline hilt. "Just as you push it into objects around you, you can utilize it within. This is the very essence of lightsaber combat, and what keeps it different from relying on a regular blade. The Force and your body moving together in unison,"

When she said those words, with a click, the mighty blade of her former master's blade ignited into a long, powerful emerald green stream of superheated plasma. It hummed with strength and Sionann could feel the weight increase, holding the weapon with two hands was the only thing keeping it from being a struggle from being hefted. The sage knight raised the lightsaber into a very basic combat stance with the blade infront of her.

"Give your lightsaber life, hold it," Sionann instructed. "Take a moment to understand the power in your hands with those tool, and we will begin with the Shii-cho or the first form of combat. You must learn the basics of this form in order to understand how to wield a lighsaber."

Alaisia nodded, activating the lightsaber. It hummed, and a blue plasma blade appeared. She turned towards Sionann, preparing herself for the new training.

She had watched others at the temple, before the raid of course, going through Shii-cho forms with other students. They had never asked her to join, but she wished that they had. It would have made things a bit simpler.

"I'm ready," Alaisia said, holding the lightsaber in front of her.

"Anyone can wield a sword," Sioannan pointed out swiping her blade in the air slowly and in several different types of slashes, eight in all, up to down, down to up, left to right, right to left, diagonal right top to diagonal left bottom, diagonal left top to diagonal right bottom, diagonal right bottom to diagonal left top, diagonal left bottom to diagonal right top, and she finished with a stab, the ninth strike. "There are always nine possibilities for striking. A blade, no matter the move, will always come from one of these nine strikes when wielded. What we add is the Force. The Force becomes out tenth possibility.

She gripped the long-handled saber a bit tighter and looked forward towards Alaisia. At this point the sage knight, despite standing there, began to seem much more aggressive towards the padawan. She could feel through the Force, the intention to do severe harm, but then it faded as Sionann relaxed.

"Through the Force is how we fight," She continued lowering her guard again. "You must feel the Force in your weapon as you would in your own hands. It flows through you in the same fashion.

Alaisia understood, waiting patiently. She could feel the Force moving both within her and around her. She could feel its ebbs and flows, as her Master had taught her long ago to detect. But fighting with the Force was another thing completely from merely feeling its presence. She focused, waiting for Sionann's first strike.

Sionann turned to face Alaisia. "Now, defend, remember the Force is with you," Knowing full well their gap in experience, the sage knight still had enough sense to come at the padawan at about little under half her usual speed. This was practice, rather than sparring.

The powerful green blade came down in an overhead slash towards Alaisia, Sionann making sure not to put too much power and aggression through. On contact the padawan was certainly going to feel the impact of the mighty blade when she parried. Sionann, after Alaisia parried turned into a full spin, slashing horizontally as a follow-up as a reminder there is no such thing a single attack.

Alaisia stepped backwards as she saw Sionann's second attack coming. She barely made it out of the way in time to miss the glowing saber blade. As she moved, she stepped to the side and tried a counter-attack. Leaping forward, she tried to slash at Sionann's arm but kept her weight balanced in case she needed to dodge again.

Alaisia was a fast learner, and that made everything all the more interesting, and considerably easier. Sionann didn't feel like she was guiding a newborn on their first steps. It also meant her attacks didn't need to be as held back.

The sage knight stepped in against the Padawan's attack, a Juyo characteristic, and met Alaisia's slash with a rising strike of her own, hitting with her weight behind the attack in attempt to throw the padawan off balance.

Alaisia yelped in alarm as Sionann stepped into her attack and threw her off balance. She toppled backwards, but it only lasted a moment before she hit the ground and rolled to get back on her feet. Grinning in the heat of the moment she leaped forward, trying to push herself faster, and slashed at Sionann's arm.

Since keeping herself balanced didn't work last time, she would try for speed. Her blade was smaller than Sionann's, faster. She readied herself to make a second slash at her leg if Sionann went to block her again.
