The evening air was cool, the wind was just a light breeze that barely made a sound in the trees. She stood there letting her breath echo the peace. A few strands of silver hair moved in the pale light as her azure eyes looked back up to the two that stood before her. They were in a large clearing far away from any civilization. The most notable feature of this clearing in the woods, was a large boulder that stood near the center.

"Peace," Sionann spoke to the two after the long hour of meditation had passed. "It is how you can hear the life beat of the Force. It is how you can begin to understand the Force as it lives as it changes."

Slowly she raised her left hand, cupping it up towards the sky. After exhaling a small breath, several bright blue sparks of electricity jumped from her finger tips and into the palm of her hand. The crackling sound the bolts made seem to echo in the silence they had.

"Lightning," The sage knight in turn lowered her hand taking a few steps away from the two other Jedi with her. "It is the purest form of energy that the Force can take, as it is just that, energy. But being as it is just energy, it is very easy to make it a weapon of darkness. The Sith thrive on this, as the Darkside craves power, craves energy to be used for their own whims. We Jedi, do not crave power like the Sith as we seek tranquility and balance.

She took her heavy cloak off, casting it back to the boulder in the clearing, her usual white and blue attire glistened a little in the pale light they all shared on this evening. They had already an idea of what was going to happen from an earlier conversation, though it seemed more like an intense combat session rather than....

"As those enveloped in darkness wish to use it as a weapon," Sionnan stood facing them, raising both hands slightly outstretched, as if adopting a ready position. "We must learn to defend against it. Draw your blades, we are going to begin by learning how to defend against this weapon. For as much as a lighstaber is a sword, it is your shield as well, never forget that. When both of you are ready, we shall begin."

The Force flowed through the young Knight as the wind flowed through the clearing the three meditated. The surrounding was calming, something he sorely needed. His own apprehension at the task they were undertaking tonight made it difficult to focus. Only once before had he seen force lightning in person, and that was a quick flash of demonstration. Tonight he was going to face that danger head on.

He watched and listened as energy crackled from Sionnan's fingertips into the sky. He trusted his fellow Knight, but the smell of ozone in the air pried at his nerves. He readied himself as Sionnan prepared for combat, drawing his lightsaber and igniting it on her instruction. The green blade bathed the clearing in light and its familiar hum cut through the gentle breeze.

"I am ready for this." His training kept the apprehension out of his voice. He trusted Sionnan, but in his experience electricity had a mind of its own. A corner of his attention remained ready to erect a familiar barrier, just in case.

Training, training, training. That was literally all that had been on his mind for so long. Facing one's mortality tends to make them more protective of their life, especially when the people out to get you wield the strongest power in the galaxy. He would need every single advantage he could get to be able to survive another bout with the Sith.

The meditation was welcome, something Rane was only just growing accustomed to. He had never taken the chance to truly understand meditation, but was now entirely welcome to the idea. It was soothing, and allowed for Rane to prepare himself for the training. He took hold of his lightsaber and activated it along with his fellow student. The familiar ice-blue blade furthered Rane's state of readiness, as the rhythmic hum calmed his nerves, "I am ready as well."

Sionann nodded when the two drew their lightsabers and adopted their stances in front of her. It was a sign they were going to take this seriously as she had hoped. This was only the start of their training after all.

"Good," Sionann crossed her hands once and brought them back to her sides feeling the tension as her fingers slightly curled, the unmistakable cracking sound occasionally coursing through them. Now was a chance for her to learn how to direct lightning at two living Force users, rather than just one. She knew it wasn't going to be as powerful as against a single target, but the sage knight was going to try. "Resist with your blades and the Force that flows from you into them, catch the lightning and let it be absorbed away into your weapon. Do not doubt nor be intimidated, stand firm and stalwart."

With that, Sionann pushed her hands forward through a calm breath, letting a void of emotion replace any thoughts that could have swayed her heart. She tried to remain empty so the energy could just pour through her connection with the Force without any interruption. And pour through it did.

Twin streams of bright blue electricity came screaming out from her hands in a crackling fury, directed straight for both Chalos and Rane's lighstabers respectfully. She was deliberately arcing and aiming the bolts at their blades first to give them an idea of what was coming.

If successful the two would be able to stand there and feel the buzz of the Force vibrate into their lightsabers and fade away. Sionann had split her attention so in defense it was quite possible to barely feel a thing. Had either one of them failed in this endeavor to block, whether it was out of hesitation, a misstep, or whatever, they would find their backs on the ground as a mild shock leaped through their body. The sage knight had a strong impact force with her lightning, but again her attention was divided at this point so it wasn't as strong as it could be.

Firm and stalwart were two adjectives that had never been applied to Chalos before. Fastidious and single-minded were the ones that more often used to describe him. He felt the challenge building as the air around him charged from the small crackles of energy behind Sionnan. Taking her instructions, he spread his six legs wide keeping his body low to remain rooted to the spot. With one final deep breath he was ready.

Suddenly, tendrils of blue lightning lashed out from Sionnan's fingertips, seeking the two students. His instinct was to throw up a barrier, something he'd relied on too many times to count, but instead he shifted the lightsaber into the path of the deadly electricity and felt the shock of the impact in his hands. To his surprise, the energy stuck in the blade, crackling and sizzling as the saber's crystal matrix diffused the energy. Despite failing to electrocute him the attack was enough to unbalance him. He shifted one of his rearmost tentacles to catch himself as he lost balance from the blow, glad to have six legs to rely on unlike those unfortunates with only two legs.

The onslaught of electricity kept pouring into the blade until he felt his arms ache. It could only have been a handful of seconds but the power in the attack was substantial enough that he needed to move his arms to keep the blood flowing through them. He twisted the blade, keeping it in the arc of the lightning. He miscalculated, and a spark managed to dodge the blade and leapt into his wrist, instantly streaming through the softer tissue of his body. He felt the pain a split second after and let out a cry of agony before moving his blade back to block the torturous bolt.

With his feet dug firmly in the ground, Rane prepared for the energy attack that was about to be sent his way. He had never seen nor experienced Force lightning first hand, so the crackling energy in Knight Sionann's hands were almost mesmerizing. The chaotic nature of the unnatural lightning was almost entertaining to watch as it danced around its wielder. It was lucky for Rane that he decided to snap out of his trance right before the bolt hit him, for he had just enough time to intercept it with his saber.

The force of the impact was enough to knock back his blade a bit, but he steadied it before it became unwieldy. The lightning made a low screeching sound as it was absorbed by his sabers own energy, and the hilt felt like it had a slight vibration to it. If this vibration continued or increased for a certain amount of time, he knew that eventually both his hands would go numb.

Along with his fellow learner, Rane followed the arcs of the lightning with his saber, ensuring that no stray bolt would strike him. His feet also continued to dig further into the ground, giving him a better grip, just in case the Knight strengthened her attack.

Sionann pulled back on the flow of the electricity, letting the bolts fade away into the lightsabers of the two students.

"Good," She nodded with a little bit of a smile on her lips, and exhaled another deep breath, adopting a more defensive stance. "You both understand the basic idea. Did it feel like it was eventually going to be too much? Remember, amplify what you experience, assume your opponent's lightning is stronger than that. I have to split my attention so it is weaker, however do not expect to be able to outlast your opponent by just standing there. Move, close the gap, don't stay stationary.

The sage knight a little and began to start circling Rane and Chalos like a predator this time, even as her breaths stayed calm. Her hands were back up again, aimed at the two, but she didn't fire, yet. "Come...make me defend."
