Continuation of previous thread

Rayne had brought the shields of the Nefarious-class Frigate online, which had stopped all small arms fire from touching the ship, this was good, but it was temporary, as she had no doubt the empire would be scrambling soon to bring the ship back. Rayne wouldn't let that happen, she brought the armamanet online as well, at least they'd have a chance..

Looking over to @Brianna Saxon Rayne said, Get us outta here Bri.. as she was feverishly working her own systems.

Rayne's words were having little affect on what Brianna was already doing. Though it was some nice motivation, asides from the whole squadron of ships racing after them. Brianna kept the engine going, it was going well with the coolant balance and at the moment she saw no sign of it over heatting. Given the situation at current, she increased the speed output of the sunlight drive, and increased the coolant intake to balance it out. When all systems read back as green she signaled to @Drace Solus. "You're clear, I got engines running at full capacity. Let's get the hell out of here!" Brianna gripped the sides of her console as the ship would lurch forward from the newly applied thrust of the engines. She tossed a look back at Rayne and nodded. If anything, this would be a nice little adventure for the trio. Assuming they didn't get blasted. "What sort of guns is this thing packing? Might need to keep the fighters busy if the escort slacks off."

The other two Mandalorians seemed to have gotten down to business as well, Rayne opting to be one of the gunners while Brianna manned the controls, alongside several others members of the crew. It had been obvious from the start that they would not be assisted by any high-profile defectors; the crew that the mechanic had been able to scrounge up consisted of rookies, likely disenchanted with their salaries or their duties or whatever else. They were doing a decent job at flying the ship, so Drace wasn't complaining. The newly-appointed Supercommando sat in the captain's seat, being the highest ranked person on the craft, among both the Imperials and the Mandalorians. He'd been giving out orders since they entered the ship, recognizing that without a captain, no craft could fly, skilled crew or not. It wasn't him being arrogant, because he wasn't; they genuinely did need someone to get people moving, otherwise they would all be carrying out conflicting tasks and would get nowhere.

"Cadet!" He flagged over a passing man who he'd noticed was heading to man the turrets. "What are the armaments on this ship?" he asked once the gunner stopped and paid attention to him. Almost immediately, the man listed them off like they were muscle memory. "Fourteen dual medium laser turrets, ten dual heavy laser turrets, and three turbolaser turrets, sir." Drace nodded and the man headed off to man one of the seven turrets stationed on the starboard side of the ship.

"You heard the man," he called to Brianna as one of the starfighters escorting them engaged an enemy ship. The battle, it seemed, was beginning. "Where's the Imperial squadron?" he shouted over the noise of the bridge. A female cadet replied, bringing footage up on the holoprojector. "Two klicks to our 4 o'clock and quickly approaching, sir." Drace looked at the projection, noting the 11 starfighters on their way. The one that had attacked seemed to have just been an outlier. As if on cue, the Mandalorian pilot fired a concussion missile into the back of the Imperial starfighter, causing it to explode a few hundreds of meters away.

At their sides, 12 Mandalorians starfighters escorted them, 3 on their right, 3 on their left, and 6 behind. "Plot a hyperspace course to Mandalore," he called out. One of the crew members got to work. Drace counted the heads in the bridge and found that they had a crew of 20 there, along with 20 more at work in the other parts of the ship. It was not optimal, but they were over the bare minimum. Hopefully, they would get to Mandalore in one piece. From there, the members would be free to do as they wished, though Drace hoped they would find a place in the Mandalorian culture.

Rayne brought the Turbolaser turrets online and brought them to bear at the ships starboard side, the imperial fighters were approaching fast and Rayne had it in mind to slow their approach. They kicked on filling a great deal of the empty space between the Nefarious-class Frigate and the approach mass of enemy ships, their distance was great enough to allow Rayne to utilize the ships weaponry against the smaller ships, but their size would still give them an edge.

The Turbo-lasers slammed into two of the one dozen ships that were flying at the Mandalorian get away crew, the ships disintegrating on impact with the far superior firepower. It wasn't much to celebrate yet, they still had a long way to go. Two down.. Scramble fighters.. Rayne commanded, as she ceased the turbo laser fire to prevent friendly fire.

Seeing what was going on, Brianna went to check the shield output, and it seemed to be fine. "Alright, shields and engines look good right now, how are we on navigational data?" She asked, moving to check that side of the bridge. They would need to make sure they had their coordinates set correctly, and since there was nothing else to do, the least she could think would be to at least check it. "Rayne, keep doing your thing. I'll check the targeting perimeters on the weapon systems, maybe we can improve the accuracy for a bit." Brianna was never really a ship person, but she did enjoy getting the most efficiency out of a tool, and this frigate was as big as a tool as she'd seen. "Drace, is the fleet going to be able to pull out safely?" She asked, though it probably wasn't her place to ask. Their warriors knew the risk. They wouldn't be here other wise.

He glanced at the radar in front of him. It was holographic, though all the ships were reduced to dots of various sizes, the friendlies marked with blue. The Mandalorian glanced out the window of the bridge, and at the several camera feeds of the space behind them. The enemy squadron was approaching, but he remained calm. "Hard to tell now, but they'll probably hold their own," he replied, watching several Imperial fighters soaring through space, letting loose a rain of bolts on to their ship and their squadron. Some of the bolts actually got to them, only to be dissipated by the ship's shields like droplets in a lake. None hit any of the Mandalorian pilots, who had turned and were engaging the enemy, returning fire and scattering the Imperials. The warriors fought with almost mechanical order, their formation not breaking as they made a beeline directly toward the enemy squadron. Drace was pleased to see an Imperial fighter get hit and blow up, followed by another.

Their own gunners would likely be getting to work now, trying to provide some back-up to the squadron, not that they really needed it. Already, the Imperials were down to 9 fighters and counting. Reinforcements—bombers and more fighters—were on the way, but would not get there in time if things continued going this well. "Status on the hyperspace course?" he asked over the noise of the bridge. "A few more minutes, sir," replied the cadet from earlier. Escape was almost there. The Mandalorians would only need to hang tight until then.

Rayne brought the seven heavy laser cannons on the imperials side to bare and began preparing targeting procedures, the simplicity and automation of the process astounded her so much that she let out a flabbergasted Woah.. as they locked onto four of the fighters, three of them having two turrets locked on them. With one more entry they each fired one blast each... (Dice) every shot was wide and missed, some sailing off in almost completely the wrong direction.

Wha... Rayne said stupefied, This imperial tech is complete nerf dung.. why are we even stealing it? Rayne said angrily..

At least they weren't far off from making their get away jump, and honestly the Mandalorian fighter wing would probably handle the third string fighter pilots the imperials had anyway.

Brianna moved over to the weapons console and looked at the targeting sequence. It looked simple at first, so she threw in some edits. Then she soon realized that she had only decreased the accuracy of the gunners now. She scowled and attempted to reverse what she had down, but the damn computer had locked in the data it was presented. She'd need to open the window and try inputting the changes again. "Well feth. So, bad news. I screwed up the targeting system. I think I can undo it though." She muttered, as she input the command prompt and waited for it to come back up. She heard Rayne's outburst, seemingly annoyed at Imperial technology, so Bri attempted to explain. "We are taking the frigate, so we have more ships in our fleet. More ships we have the more imposing the force. If nothing else, we can use this thing as a glorified battering ram."

"Battering ram?!" he asked. "The Manda'lor will use our heads as battering rams if we bring this ship in damaged." A few more gunners rushed to man the turrets. Outside, their ships engaged the Imperials once more, downing another fighter and damaging a second, blasting its wing until it was a melted stub. The craft seemed to have difficulty flying after that, making it a prime target for the frigate's gunners. "One of the fighters is damaged—see if you can take it out," he suggested to the two other Mandalorians, who seemed to be focused on the weapons of the frigate.

Their ship lurched, and he glanced around, trying to see what the hell had caused that. "Hold her steady!" he shouted, and a few of the crew members in the bridge flashed him apologetic looks. They were rookies, after all. The ride would not be smooth, but he was satisfied so long as they got to their destination. As if on cue, a technician walked up to him to give him the update on the hyperspace course. "Hyperspace course is plotted, sir," she informed him. "Warming up the engines as we speak. A minute at most, and we're off." Drace nodded. They just had to hang on for a little more.

Rayne took a deep breath, lit a death stick, remanned the turrets, again the system targeted the star fighters quickly, this time each of the seven turrets focused on seven independant craft. Come on.. Rayne said softly to herself, as she prepared to fire the heavy turrets.. Dice.

BOO YA! Rayne called out as all seven turrets sent enormus bolts of light barreling through space that each found a home inside an imperial star fighter. Nice work Bri! She called out, as all seven enemy star fighters were exploding and burning.

The tide was heavily favored on the Mandalorian side now, whatever could be left would be easily taken out by the Mando fighters.

Brianna smiled up at Rayne and shook her head, moving to work on the targeting parameters for the frigate, before moving back to the shield console. "Looks like the Imperials aren't wanting to risk it. They aren't even coming close to punching through the shields." She said with satisfaction, though she deeply wanted the hyperspace jump to hurry along. "Everything is still in the green on this end. Make the jump when we're ready. Don't want to gamble on that." Brianna called out, before moving to the engine control terminal and checking that all was in order. There really wasn't much else she could do. Rayne had the defenses covered, and Drace was already commanding the bridge crew. Now all they needed to do was get the hell out of dodge.

That was when the pièce de résistance showed up, a corvette booming out of hyperspace only a few hundred meters away. The bridge erupted into chaos as a whole other squadron flew out of the new arrival, making a bee line directly for them. Swarms of starfighters approached, waiting to get in range, ready to open fire on the frigate. The gunners began working overtime, doing their best to take out the squadron from a distance, only to miss every shot—they were too far. The Mandalorian fighters looped around and turned to meet the Imperials head on, and that was really their best chance at holding them back.

That was when a technician ran up to Drace. He raised his eyebrows, waiting for her to open her mouth and give him some good news. "Ready to leap into hyperspace, sir."

Punch it! Rayne yelled, a half a moment later the frigate lurched into hyperspace, the mandalorian fighters would do the same soon enough, the prize had been secured, and there was no longer a need for them to stick around.

The lights from far off stars streaked past as the ship traveled at a speed once thought impossible. Rayne sat heavily in her seat, letting out a long sigh, That got hairy for a second there.. She said as she looked at Bri, glad not only that they'd succeeded, but mostly that she'd survived.

With a glance to @Drace Solus, Rayne said, Let's get this boat home..

Brianna relaxed as she felt the ship begin it's alignment towards Hyperspace. She looked back to Rayne and nodded, as she leaned against the console and waited for the jump to come. "Alright, lets wrap this up. We got some celebration to do once we get home." She said, grinning behind her helmet. Thankfully no one was going home in a body bag, and other than a few cosmetic things, everyone was safe and sound. She had to wonder what the reaction would be once they showed up back at home with a frigate in tow. If nothing else, it'd make for a great story, not to mention an excuse to celebrate with Ray.
