DESCRIPTION
Some 500 years ago, Starlane Hypernautics' Nerf Herder-class light freighter was one of the Galaxy's more popular small cargo transports. The march of centuries and the slow but steady refinement of technology eventually rendered it obsolete, however, and by the middle of the Imperial era, the original model was out of production and mostly out of service.

Enter Rekklemat Products, a small starship manufacturer which specializes in taking old, obsolete designs and wringing a little more shelf-life out of them. Rekklemat purchased the blueprints and production tooling for the Nerf Herder, and using modern technology, significantly updated it. Re-dubbed simply the Nerf, the type now has an optimum crew of 3, a top speed of 65 MGLT with upgraded engines and a pair of dual light laser turrets for defense. The redesign proved to be just the shot in the arm the type needed; since its reintroduction, the type has become popular with "freelance couriers," with many customers appreciating its "classic" lines and robust design in addition to its new abilities.

LEGALITY
Legal. Nerf-class freighters are a common sight across the Galaxy, and they are considered innocuous enough in most systems.

INTENT
To revive a light freighter from the previous timeline using a current ship as a basis, and to update it based on my observation that the original image in fact has a second laser turret not addressed in the original write-up. Compare VT-1100 light freighter.

ADVANCED TECH
No. Nerf-class freighters are quite common, and would be simple to buy, steal or otherwise acquire.
