That's only because it's bigger.

You really can't compare Sweden with the USA.

Fair enough, but I still think the US government is insanely incompetent and pretty evil.

Luckily, that logic is also true.

Yeah.

I'm not saying that there's no hidden corruption. It's just that to suggest that all corruption in the United States is hidden is just a bold-faced, blatant falsehood.

Fair enough, but I still think the US government is insanely incompetent and pretty evil.

Evil's a pretty knee jerk and extreme reaction.

and because its bigger it has to be more corrupt? :CAbove:

If say for every ten people one is corrupt, that means the larger amount of people will have more corrupt people.

For Al-Qaeda.

Al-Qaeda brings most of their own misery on themselves. The American government ****s over a lot of good people who aren't terrorists, believe it or not.

Doesn't mean it still does it.

Germany had concentration camps once.

if it makes you sleep better at night sure. we will go with that logic

Such insults..can't we all just respect each others opinions..?

Just a little thought but anyway...

I can honestly say I have lost confidence in the American government..and really, thats true. It's two groups of people trying to represent a country full of millions...and failing. I don't singularly think that its the idea of electing representatives from each state, or province, that is the problem...I think that perhaps its because of the groups that are aligned to them..

We have no idea what they're doing right now, because they don't declassify the information on many of their activities until years later... But we know that they've taken the liberty of assassinating democratically elected leaders just for having policies that aren't the kind America wants. We know they've sponsored and even trained people like the El Salvadoran death squads and the Taliban.

Who knows what we DON'T know?

The U.S has never trained the Taliban.

Check your facts.

We need congressional term limits. That would be a major change that could produce a lot of positive results, considering you're not sitting around for 30 years losing touch and just taking every deal offered to you.

I've seen pictures from the 80s, of CIA agents at a Taliban training camp. Maybe they were just touring, maybe they were involved in training them. Either way, they supported extremist Islamofascists just because they didn't want communism in Afghanistan.

1) The Taliban didn't even exist when the US was in Afghanistan.
2) The 9/11 Commission reports states that there is no evidence of U.S training Al Qaeda or the Taliban.
3) The simple fact that the Taliban didn't even have a single stinger missile when the US invaded in 2001 proves this.
4) "Just because they didn't want Communism?" I'm sorry, but the Soviets were slaughtering the Afghan population JUST to support its idiotic puppet state. Furthermore ISLAM WAS ALSO BANNED under the soviet regime. Since you're such a fan of the religion you should be more appalled.

1) The mujahideen created the Taliban regime sometime after the Soviets pulled out and American support for them pulled out as well. I was using the wrong term, I guess, but it's the same thing really.
2) Even if I'm wrong about CIA guys training mujahideen, the US funded them.
3) Lack of equipment proves that... how?
4) I am not a fan of Islam in the slightest, and the Taliban regime was worse for Afghanistan then the Soviet's puppet state.
5) This isn't the point. You've taken one little piece of my earlier post and are arguing about it and only it, as if it's the main thing.

1) What a gross oversimplification. The Mujahideen and the Taliban ARE NOT the same thing. Yes a Taliban could be a Mujahideen but not every Muhjahideen is a taliban. The Mujahideen movement that took place in Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation was a POPULAR UPRISING. The Taliban is not a people's movement. It was created by Pakistan after the Soviet withdrawal to fill the vacuum of power and give Pakistan strategic depth for its war against India.

2) No. They. Didn't. Stop. Saying. That. They. Did. It doesn't. Make. It. True. The U.S has never had any links with the Taliban, they didn't even recognize their existence.

3) If the US had given weapons and aid to the taliban, then you'd think they'd have US weapons??

4) Yup, but neither was created by the U.S.

"By the end of 1993, in Afghanistan itself there were no roads, no schools, just a destroyed country -- and the United States was washing its hands of any responsibility. It was in this vacuum that the Taliban and Osama bin Laden would emerge as the dominant players. It is ironic that a man who had almost nothing to do with the victory over the Red Army, Osama bin Laden, would come to personify the power of the jihad."
-George Crile

The US stopped being involved in Afghanistan after 1993, after-which it became a haven for terrorists worldwide.
