The final moments of wrestling the bird's mind and Renfry had control. No, not control, but balance. There was no dominating or subjugating Dathomir, there was only living as an extension of it. As with Zara, woman and beast shared a single mind. The predatory instincts of the creature fed into Renfry's mind as well.

She willed them to dive, and the animal dropped like the bird of prey it was, swooping downward with a rush of wind. It tore at her hair and clothes as she gripped on with her legs and tightened her grip on the thick feathers on the back of the neck.

It pulled up just above the line of the trees and her stomach felt like it slammed into her hips. She almost felt like shouting and yelling, but decided whooping and hollering might not be the most "Queen-like" thing.

Still, she smiled widely as they raced over the treetops. She could feel the will to hunt running through the beast and it almost imparted the same instinct on her.

It spotted its prey below, and Renfry didn't hold him back. It lunged down, razor-sharp claws tearing into the back of a smaller, wolf-like creature, coming to a stop atop the shredded corpse and beginning to eat. Renfry looked up to see if Zara's mount felt the same instincts.

The feeling of the wind on her body, pushing her down and back. Pressing her a top the bird. It was the rush she had longed to feel again after so much time away from home. Renfry might have felt that whooping was not "Queen-like." But Zara was far from a Queen and let out a call more akin to a banshee. Her bird crying out as well, the sound filling the air as one joyous call of the wild.

Movement below caused the her bird to dip, she could feel the other female's primal need to hunt. Zara knew the feeling well. And like her Queen, allowed the bird to do as it needed. As Renfry's bird went for the wolf, Zara's dove for what the wolf was after. A lizard, about half the size of the wolf hunting it.

Zara's bird dove, caught the lizard in it's talons and closed them until it felt bones snap. Then dropped it, and pounced again. Her razor sharp beak ripping away the flesh as it feasted. Perhaps oddly, this caused Zara's stomach to rumble.

The huntress slipped from her bird and slid down to the ground. Seeming feeling Zara's hunger the bird tore off the fat meaty tail of the lizard with it's beak on tossed it toward the Nightsister. Zara gave a nod, and pushed a feeling of welcome thanks through the shadow to the bird.

"Do you prefer your meal cooked or raw, my Queen?" Zara said.

Renfry slid from her own bird and her feet hit the ground as her own bird began to feed on the wolf. It seemed that Zara's mount was more generous than Renfry's, and a portion of the creature was flung in the direction of the pair of Nightsisters.

Definitely cooked, she said, heading off to give their mounts more space to feed. She reached out with the Shadow and lifted several dried out logs so that they floated near the pair of women.

With a flash, she threw a green orb down at the pile of wood. She took out her hunting knife and began skinning the tail, unbothered by the blood now pooling just in front of her and clinging to her hands.

That was fun, she said after a moment with a smile. Out here, with just one of her sisters, she didn't have to just be a queen. She could be more relaxed and just... exist. One with the planet and with nature and with the Shadow.

Zara smiled in agreement with the need for the tail to be cook. But if Renfry said raw she would have accepted it just as well. However there were few smells as pleasing to the huntress as a fresh kill cooked over open flame.

She would raise her hand in a attempt to do the very thing Renfry was already busy doing. What might have taken the younger Nightsister a few more longer moments, Renfry managed to accomplish with little more effort then breathing. In what seemed like a blink, the wood was in place and the fire, lit and warming.

When the other sister turn her attention to cleaning the tail, Zara quickly took the opportunity to act. Using the Shadow to pluck a few long branches from a nearby tree, and weaving them into a spit before placing it over the fire. Next she lifted a couple more larger logs, placing them on either side of the fire for seating.

"It IS fun. Moments like this must be few now that you are Queen, no ?"

Renfry was glad to see Zara taking initiative as she ready the spit, something she didn't personally feel like doing. She shaved off a chunk of the meat and handing it over to Zara to be skewered and spun on the spit.

Ah, thanks, she said, taking a seat on the larger log provided by Zara. She continued working at the tail, glad to have something to do with her hands. It was annoying work for her back in the day, but now it was mundane and... simple.

No, not often, she said, an almost lamenting tone of her voice. But then she started to think about all the things she had done as Queen and how much she had changed. It was a good thing and she didn't regret it.

Why do you think I became Queen if I had to give so much up? she asked.
