New, with lots of fun questions!

Hello, Star Wars Roleplay community!
Back during the 5th timeline, I lurked here for a bit and almost joined on several occasions, but I never could find the time between work and school.
I started lurking again a couple of days ago, and decided to go for it; if I make a fool of myself, I can just melt away back into the internet, right?

Anyways, I am an old-hand RPer; I used to be pretty active, I'm almost ashamed to say, in the Warriors community 5 or 6 years ago. I am, however, very, very rusty at this, and I have a few questions:

First, what is the level of canon that we should strive to adhere to? I am kind of getting mixed messages between the Story page and some of the faction pages, and I would appreciate this being cleared up for ne before I jump in.

I am glad you are getting back to RP. It is so much fun.

The canon is composed of the stuff from the movies, the Clone Wars and Rebels TV series. From there, we just use our creativity. |)
I would recommend you to read this thread about the background of the current timeline and start having a look around.
You can also check out Wookieepedia. It is pretty easy to identify what is canon and what is part of the Legends. Hope this helps...

Hello, and welcome!

Aberforth's advice seems sound as far as identifying canon. I still get confused as well, so I mostly just check wookiepedia if I need something specific. Plus, if anything noncanon is something you still want to use, there are forums to get things approved with writeups for technology, species, and planets.

Other than that, if you have character ideas you might want to bounce off someone, I'm around. Just send me a pm :)
