GREEEEEEEETINGS!
Greetings Sith, Sacred Band and all you other misunderstood and definitely not evil peoples! Welcome to the Dawn of the Republic timeline! I am your glorious faction leader, Snokette, although most just call me Sapphire Storm or some abbreviation of it. I’ll be nice and let you choose which you go with.
Anyway! Why are we here and what is this? I’m sure that’s why you’re here. This, my dear, oh so lovely fodde- AHEM, I mean my dear, oh so lovely Sith and Sacred Band compatriots, is our very first newsletter of the timeline! I’ll try and keep these going every fortnight (that’s two weeks for those of you who don’t use that word) or so, although it might just change to whenever we’ve got something interesting to talk about. I would like it to be a very regular thing, though.
Oh! Another important thing! If your character’s all written up, ready and posted in the Character Profiles Forum, then go over here, click the appropriate sign-up sticky, follow the template and post there for review and approval, where one of our lovely leaders (more on them later) will set about approving everyone’s characters.
SAY HI!
So, what news is there? Well, everything! First off, say hi to your assistant faction leaders. We’ve got @Saul , whose character, Arkon Rall, is the Warlord of the Sacred Band of Ziost. He’s the one in charge of the Sacred Band. Next we’ve got @Dakota and his character, L’hannas Kaldun Xaar, who will be playing the part of our resident Dark Lord. He’s the one in charge of the Sith and all their fun and shenanigans. And then there’s @Marf , who will be using her character Andromeda to very meanly and unfairly beat up on all the newbies so that they’re so battered, beaten and bruised that fighting the Jedi and the Border Alliance will seem like a nice bit of R&R. And then there’s me, who is in charge of it all. Aren’t we such a wonderfully charming and friendly bunch of antagonists?
GOALS!
Now, our goals! I’ve been asked constantly about how I plan to go about conquering everything I set my eyes on, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about. Not yet! From my standpoint as a writer and as the faction leader, my main goal is that everyone has fun, feels like part of the faction and actually enjoys playing their character and participating in everything. I’m sure you’re all also a bunch of adrenaline junkies that are just itching to throw your characters into the grinder. PvP can be a bit intimidating, though, especially if you’re new. That’s part of the reason Marf is here! She came up with the great idea of officially holding friendly pvp sessions so that people that might be a little intimidated by the idea of PvP can get used to it in an environment where their character isn’t in a position where they might die, or where people can just practice and brush up on their slaughtering skills. After all, the main missions and battles are half the fun of being in a faction, and the last thing we want is people being intimidated by them. You can find out more about that in the OOC boards.
Everyone having fun, feeling like part of the faction and participating in faction events is a personal goal of mine. Killing bunches of PCs, conquering the galaxy and becoming High Priestess of the Entire Universe is also a goal, but it’s more of a side goal for me. It’d be nice, but I’m far more interested in creating a fun, engaging and interesting experience for everyone involved. I know personally from previous sites and RPing experiences what it’s like when the leadership of whatever I’m a part of feels very closed off and as if I don’t really have much of a say in things, and it sucks. I don’t want that to be how we run. How things go with characters and whatnot is an entirely different matter, but as a player I’m more interested in everyone actually enjoying the act of roleplaying and feeling like they actually play a role in the faction than anything else.
With that in mind, if you’ve ever got ideas for the faction, whether they be fun events, story arcs you’d love to see play out, or anything else, feel free to PM them to me and we’ll talk about them! Multiple minds thinking up fun things we can do as a faction is always better than just one or two. So throw your ideas our way and we’ll take a look, talk about them with you and see if we can get them rolling.
MISSIONS
We already have some missions and such ready for you to throw yourselves at, so just head on over to the Sith missions board, read through all that and throw your characters at the ones that interest you! Glory to the Sith and the Sacred Band!
As you’ve probably read, missions are working a little differently this timeline than the way they did previously. The admins want to get things back to how they used to be, where risk is a big element of things. That’s why there are now two types of missions. One of them is open and can be jumped in by anyone that feels like messing with you, and the other is the usual closed kind in which you don’t have to worry about any pesky Jedi jumping in with the intent of murderfacing you. We have both! That means you have the choice of allowing the risky element or just wishing to do your mission against all those NPCs. The ones with an element of risk do contribute more to the completion of goals, however.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Welcome to the faction and to the Dawn of the Republic! I hope we all have a wonderful time with lots of fun and intrigue and stories, and I’m really excited about it all. I look forward to seeing what all of you come up with and what different kinds of chaos we can all cause. If you’ve got any questions or anything feel free to post them below and I’ll do my best to answer them!
