RODIA
1900 Hours

Now that Kae'Leigh has received her spoofer, it is time to put it into action. An executive from the Black Company is meeting on Rodia to form a business charter. Their credentials will allow the Galactic Alliance access into their accounts and will help bankroll the rebellion. Get those encryptions by any means necessary.

How fortunate that Kae'Leigh had come to Rodia when she did. It was her first mission since being promoted to the status of Jedi Knight, but she was still working in the field as a slicer. She had no qualms with this assignment as slicing was something she did best. Being a Jedi was knew and if she were being honest with herself, she wasn't as experienced as a Sith who'd trained all their life to kill. She could hold her own, but she didn't want to risk such a thing.

Slicing on the other hand, that was second nature to the blue skinned Twi'lek. At a young age she learned the binary language of computers and just like reading a book she could understand the code and all its little tricks in the trade. Of course it wasn't without practice and patience, and like any skill it got more refined with time. Even to the point that she'd finally crafted herself a homemade slicing deck. The metal briefcase design was the perfect cover for the device as one end opened up like it appeared and could slide files and/or papers inside. But with a well-placed thumb print scanner, the long edge panel would slide off allowing the entire top to open up and fold out from itself. Inside was her personal data pad (one of several) and a code-breaking platform with a dozen or so nobs to change frequencies, copy wavelengths, or even shut off sensors. It could do a host of things for any run of the mill slicer all in one convenient carrying case.

But that wasn't her most valuable asset. Since the time she'd become a Jedi, Kae'Leigh had been fantasizing about creating her own lightsaber. They were the weapon of the mystical warriors and a symbol for hope and peace. Throughout her training the Twi'lek had been given a temporary one to have on her person, but she never used it for fear of being discovered. But that wouldn't stop her now as she proudly carried the hilt on her belt. The brown and blue wooden brylark hilt was built on Ilum after Kae'Leigh pulled her blue Kyber crystal out of the icy cavern walls. It had come to her with a vision of the future, one that she held very dear to her heart.

With her crystal, Kae'Leigh had gone through a mental change in her personality. Before she'd been timid and afraid of the future. Afraid of her own powers. Afraid for herself. But that Kae'Leigh was gone. Now she had a strong sense of confidence and pride. Kae'Leigh was a Jedi Knight now. And that meant she would do whatever she could to help the people hurt by the war. If that meant doing more slicing missions in the meantime for the Galactic Alliance, then she would go where she was needed.

Her confidence could also be seen in the way she dressed. Her pilot jacket and leather pants were gone, now replaced by a black suit that had special duraplast plates woven into it. The armor zipped up in the front and came all the way down to her ankles, but not before tucking into heavy duty boots. She still wore her utility belt which was currently lacking the additional pouches. Over her head was a simple leather headdress common to their people that wrapped around the ears and held her lekku in place. On her left shoulder was a heavier looking duraplast plate that had adorned in the leather a symbol of an eagle surrounded by some sort of angelic light. Any Twi'lek would recognize the body of the piece as a hawk, for Kae'Leigh's last name translated in Basic was: Lighthawk. It was the one thing she knew in her language of Ryl; she still had no one to teach her the language of her people.

So there she was, walking down the busy streets of Rodia like she owned the place. The black outfit and obvious ligthsaber on her belt gave her the impression she was a Sith, so the people gave her a wide birth. It wasn't the look she was going for, but it worked to her advantage. It also helped that she was carrying the metal briefcase like she were transporting some weapon...or worse, a bomb. It wouldn't get her through any security checkpoints, but that's where her other more powerful weapon came in: the power of the Force. Using her training she could influence the weaker minded into simply looking the other way and allowing her access. A simple skill with plenty of useful possibilities.

And as such, each time she'd connect with the Force, a certain vibe would go out to other Force sensitives. More specifically to those who had come across her before. Each pulse was like a signature and different with each person. While it took a special understanding to realize and remember each aura, those on friendly terms could be found much easier. Kae'Leigh hadn't come to this planet with a partner, but she would soon find out a partner was closer than she thought....

He had come to Rodia as part of his training as a Padawan. He had completed his mission and called for pickup, but it was taking sooo long. He had decided to practice meditating as it was something he could do in public without being too obvious.

He closed his eyes on the bench, waiting for the signal to tell him his transport was here. He wasn't that great at this whole mediation thing. His masters had been busy and didn't have much time for him. He still enjoyed learning but was frustrated out how slow it was going.

He caught himself, his mind had been wondering again. Why is this so hard?! He tried again to calm his mind, and seconds later he was sound asleep.

Firen slumped over on the back bench, curling into his jacket. He even snored quietly. No one seemed to pay him any mind and this bench was more comfortable than it looked. His leg twitched slightly as he dreamed, occasionally mumbling about lettuce.

Now when Kae'Leigh came looking for an ally, she didn't expect to find one sleeping without a care in the world. She hadn't noticed him at first, given his small size, but when she passed by the bench on her way to the inner district something caught her eye. His foot, twitching in his sleep, made her jump and reach for her saber. It was strange that she was on edge all of a sudden, but the sudden movement startled her. Her hand hovered over the hilt as she was about to grab it, but never made contact. There was no danger here.

And then she laughed. Or rather giggled. The thing that made her jump was nothing more than a fluffy little Kushiban wearing tiny robes. Kae'Leigh straightened up and then leaned on hr left hip while crossing her arms. A smirk of disbelief crossed her lips. Of all the places, of all the people, what were the odds these two would meet again. She bet a droid could figure it out. Not that she really wanted to hear the answer. Kicking the bottom of the bench she made sure to stir him awake.

"You know you're liable to be robbed, sitting out in the open like this."

He heard a voice, but it took a second for him to realize it was outside of his dream. He was pulled from sleep with a yawn, stretching on the bench. How long had he been asleep? "Huh? Wha..." he asked as he finished stretching he looked up seeing the familiar Twi'lek face.

She wasn't who was supposed to pick him up. "Kae'Leigh?" he asked, still somewhat groggy. "What are you doing here?" he asked yawning again and standing on the bench.

He scratched behind his ear, glancing at his comm device. There was nothing there that indicated he had missed any messages. His stomach growled, it always did when he first woke up. While the Twi'lek explained herself he plunged a hand into a pocket and pulled out a piece of lettuce that had been mostly destroyed him sleeping on it, but that didn't bother him. He crunched down on it as she spoke.

Still leaning on her hip she would look down to him. She smirked, and answered honestly. She was no longer afraid of being a Jedi. And that just wasn't because she was talking to an old friend. Any fear she had before about being picked up by the Sith was long gone. She was a warrior. She was a Jedi.

"I am here to return something precious to my Jedi Master."

He would pull out a comm device, as if maybe not hearing her properly. She'd just admitted to being a Jedi. But perhaps that would trigger in his head in a moment. It was clear he was more focused on finding the lettuce in his pocket. Kae'Leigh shook her head with a light chuckle. Of course he was thinking about food.

"May I ask what are you doing here, my friend?"

"Here?" he asked looking down at the bench he was standing on. "I was practice meditating. I don't think I am very good at it." he said scratching his ear again.

He took another bite of the lettuce. "Before that, I was finishing a task given to me by one of my Jedi Teachers." he said looking up to the sky "They said they were going to pick me up..." he said as he squinted upwards "but they are late."

"Did your thing work?" he asked with a slight tilt to his head, referring to the last time they had met. It had been sometime "What was it called? A spoon? .....Spooner? You know, the thing." he said making a box roughly the size of the spoofer with his hands.

"Anyways, since I am here do you need any help?" he asked enthusiastically. Last time they had been together, Firen had a blast, maybe this would keep him entertained until he was picked up.

"Meditating?" she would think to herself. "Like...a Jedi? Or was that just a coincidence?"

She didn't voice that aloud though and her question was answered by his next sentence. Jedi teachers. Kae'Leigh squeaked and cupped her hands over her mouth excitedly. He then went on to say that he had planned to be picked up by them, but they were late. Before she could reply further on the topic he changed subjects and asked her about their last mission.

"The spoofer," she corrected. She nodded her head causing her lekku to bounce behind her head. "And yes. I had it, and threw it away." She then picked up the briefcase she'd sat down by her feet and clapped it gently on its side. "But that's what this baby is for."

She didn't say anything else about it though because he quickly interjected and asked if she needed any help. She cocked her head to the side, considering it for a moment before replying. She wouldn't really need help. Though she had no idea where Vu'thari was. Maybe the little guy could be helpful. Plus, it would be nice if he got a chance to meet her master, considering he'd just admitted to being a Jedi.

"Of course. But you have to tell me about your training. When did you find out? When did you start? Having you built a lightsaber yet? Tell me everything! And why didn't you say anything before? I could have helped you get started. I was trying to hide my own rank from you this whole time and you didn't say anything! I thought we were better friends than that, Firen."

Her questions spouted off lightning fast and she was practically dancing in her shoes waiting for a response. Kae'Leigh was a very excitable girl to begin with, and the mention of Jedi was now a topic of great fascination to her.

"Spoofer! That's what I said!" he said snorting a little. She seemed really excited when he mentioned the Jedi which made his smile widen.

"Wellll...I just started really." he said looking down and kicking his feet. "I am not really good at anything." he said "I don't have a lightsaber yet, but they let me use a training saber sometimes. For now, I just use my blaster." he said looking back up at her.

"I didn't know!" he said as an explanation to why he hadn't said anything "It all just kind of happened so fast!" he added "Plus!" he held a hand out point to his robes "I wouldn't be wearing this stupid thing if I didn't have to!" he said scrunching his nose up. "but you hid it really good! I had no idea! Well, except for that." he said point to the lightsaber on her hip "That kind of gives you away!"

"So!" he said interlocking his fingers together "What kind of trouble are we getting into today!?" he asked again

Kae'Leigh listened to him talk, explaining his saber, his blaster, and then how she'd managed to slide her Jedi presence from him. She smiled, patting her saber then when he mentioned hers. She wore it proudly. Unlike before when she tried to hide it, though then it was the training saber which was the very reason she was here today. Firen then asked her what kind of trouble they were getting into and she merely shook her head;her lekku following behind her head with tiny flicks.

"No trouble. Just a simple scouting mission. Hop along now."

She said that intentionally to get a rise out of him. Whether negative or humorous. Kae'Leigh then began walking, making sure he was keeping pace. She'd grabbed her briefcase once more before departing. As he followed, she'd explain a little more about herself.

"So, about before. I am sorry I misled you. I was scared of being a Jedi back then. But I've now risen to the rank of Knight. I can give you some pointers, if you'd like. I um....actually....No. Never mind. Anyways, feel free to ask me anything. Part of being a Jedi is sharing that wisdom. Oh, and to answer your other question. I'm looking for my Jedi Master. He's a Twi'lek like me. Only he has pink skin. Maybe you can put that nose of yours to work?"

No trouble? More like no fun. His nose further scrunched at the joked before he did indeed hop off the bench and started to follow along.

"Oh its okay!" he said looking up at her smiling "I know I can be pretty scary sometimes!" he said growling before laughing. They made their way through the crowded streets when she offered to help him learn how to be a better Jedi.

"Really?!?" he said excitedly, turning to face her. "I would love that!" he continued, beaming. "Like I said earlier, I am not very good.." he said, his mood evening some.

"But that can come later. First, we have to find your Master!" he said, starting to move forward again. It should be hard to find another Twi'lek here, but he had no idea what he smelled like, plus the smells of the city made smelling anything in particular hard. "Where do you think he is?" he asked looking back up at her.

To his comment about him being scary, Kae'Leigh closed her eyes with a loud giggle. That was irony in its finest form. She couldn't imagine his fluffy little self being anything other than absolutely adorable. When he then got excited about her teaching him he exclaimed happily that he would love to learn more. Though, he admitted he wasn't very good. Kae'Leigh wanted to tell him that she'd felt the same way for a long time in her training. She'd had a lot of doubt for far too long.

Giving him a cheerful smile after she stopped giggling he'd then offer that they needed to find her master first. He asked if she might know where he was, and she simply shrugged her shoulders. "I don't have the slightest clue. I was hoping you might have seen him. There can't be that many of my kind walking around freely now can there?"

She then added, putting her hand down to give him a pat on the head, "Oh and don't worry about your skill level. We all have a starting place. And each and every once of us has the potential for more growth. We're all students, in our own way. I was like you too, in your place I mean. I doubted myself so much. This confidence you see is all new to me honestly. I had to go on...well let's call it my own spiritual journey to reflect.

And it wasn't an easy path. It took hard work and I had to let myself be open to learning. I had to understand I was not perfect. I was afraid of myself for a long time, and that held me back. It wasn't until I had a reason to fight that I finally found the courage inside me to fight on.
" Kae'Leigh patted the hilt of her saber gently.

"Oh! And if you want me to give you some lessons, you'll need to ask your master first. I wouldn't want anything thinking I was stealing their Padawan now would we?"

This was Kae'Leigh's way of investigating whether or not he had an actual master. Some Jedi Padawan did not. They learned where they could. She was fortunate enough that her master was able to take her in. But she heard of other Padawan who were not in a place they could follow someone else around indefinitely lest it drew suspicion on the master. She hoped that Firen was one of those unclaimed potentials. But she wouldn't get her hopes of either.

Firen looked up, tilting his head slightly. "If you don't have a clue where he is at, why look here?" he asked innocently. "I haven't seen him though." he said, frowning. "I was uhhhh..." he added, looking back to the bench "...busy"

He listened as she spoke about her training. That made him feel better. He felt many of the same things, thought the same thoughts. It was hard not to feel alone when others were progressing and he was lagging behind.

"Wellll.." he said scratching an ear. "I guess I don't really have a Master, exactly." he continued. "Asha was teaching me for a while, but she was so busy with other things. So I had been learning with whoever had time." he said nodding as they continued walking. He hoped she could train him, help him learn the things he was struggling with, answer the so many questions the remained unanswered. She was probably too busy though like all the others had been.

He sighed.

To his question about why she was looking on Ord Mantell for her master if Kae'Leigh didn't know where he was, Kae'Leigh would explain that she knew he'd come to the planet and this is where he'd told her to meet him when she finished her mission on Ilum with a different master. But he'd neglected to give her any sort of code to track him down with. For security she would assume. Kae'Leigh also figured that she'd be able to sense him via the Force. But apparently that wasn't working the way it should otherwise she wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.

There was another option, one that she would think on later in her meditation: that the Force did not want her to find Vu'thari, and instead, would find someone else to guide her on her journey. One such person being Firen, who was now telling her he did not have a master of his own. Kae'Leigh couldn't hide the smile growing on her face as she listened to him say as such. Sure it might have been a rude thing to wish for on his part, but now she had the chance to ask what she really wanted: a Padawan of her own to help grow and mature.

Squealing with delight, Kae'Leigh clapped her hands together in front of her and jumped on her feet once; her lekku flopping behind her as she did. "Oh Firen! This is wonderful news! Shiny! Absolutely shiny! I would love to teach you, and I would be honored if you let me take you in as my Padawan learner. Oh do say yes, Firen. Please say yes!"

Kae'Leigh looked down to her furry companion with hope in her eyes. This had to be the way of the Force. There was no arguing that point. Firen did not have a master and needed one terribly. Kae'Leigh would be there for her friend, as Vu'thari had been there for her when she needed someone. This was destiny!

He listened as she explained why she was looking for her master here. He had never met the other Jedi, only knowing she kind of looked like Kae'Leigh. "Maybe he is hiding from you....you know...like a game." he said scanning people seeing no other Twi'leks in the area. Firen did like games though, he was pretty good at them.

He jumped when she squealed and started clapping her hands. This was not the first time such an outburst had scared the small Jedi. He turned to her, ears were twitching around before he realized she was merely excited. He smiled, putting a hand behind his hand as his ears eased.

"That sounds great!" he said. This was great! Firen had started the day a little annoyed that someone had either forgotten to, or was late picking him up, but if they had he wouldn't have seen Kae'Leigh and he still wouldn't have had someone to teach him.

"So where do we start!?" he said excitedly.

Firen's idea on the situation was that her master was hiding from her in some sort of game. Kae'Leigh disagreed. She didn't correct him on it though, only listened and thought about it. A test maybe. A test to see if she could find him while he was hidden from the world. That was the more likely. Vu'thari always did have another lesson for her. And he wasn't really the type of person to try and pull a prank on someone. Such things were childish in nature and served no one but themselves.

And then it was settled. Firen would be her first Padawan. Kae'Leigh smiled happily and crouched down for a moment to hold her hand out to him. It was a choice and a hard one. Either she be proper about this...or do her usual over-excitement and pick him up, squeeze him, and spin them in circles while shrieking with giddy pleasure. The former was more tolerable on him. He'd have to get over her friendly manner eventually though. It was just something he was going to have to get used to.

"Well first you should call your friends and let them know you won't be needing a ride. Second, you and I take a lap around this city to find our wayward master. Tell me, do you have a lightsaber?"

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Kae'Leigh looked down for a moment and pulled out her communicator. Her eyes widened. She nearly dropped the device. "Kriff kriff kriff kriff!" Kae'Leigh shoved the communicator back in her pocket and then reached behind her to toss Firen the leather hilt lightsaber. "First lesson, Padawan! We've got a mission."

With no explanation she took off down the street with a hurried trot. She wouldn't run, per se, but she did walk fast and with purpose. Her hand was gripped tightly to the metal briefcase in her hand. The other near her hip in case she needed to pull her saber out suddenly.

She crouched down and held out a hand to him, He stepped forward and gripped her hand his tiny one and shook. He couldn't wait to start. He had a good feeling about Kae'leigh.

He nodded at the instruction he was given. He pulled out a small datapad and typed the message before sending it. He hoped they were alright, but he was sure they were just delayed or trying to teach him about patience or something. Old Jedi love hiding messages in everything.

They started walking, Firen with a bit more pep in his step than before. He was glad he got a nap before this, we was so excited. He turned to her when she asked if he had a lightsaber. He looked away, a little ashamed, all the other Padawans that had started with him had built lightsabers of their own, Firen had only done a little training with training blades. He shook his head "I don't." he said simply.

Her comm device started to beep rapidly and she cursed before reading the message. What was wrong? Something seemed wrong. Firen looked around, sure something was going to jump out at them. He turned back in time to see her tossing a....LIGHTSABER! He fumbled with it as she took off running. He was vibrating with excitement!

He finally got ahold of it and ran to catch up to the Jedi Knight. "What's the mission?" he asked coming up beside her.

One of these days Kae'Leigh would ask Firen to race her. Being a rabbit-species, she wondered how fast his little legs could carry him. She was already faster than a normal humanoid due to her being a Twi'lek. But she was curious to know who was the faster. She had no doubt she would win in terms of using the Force to aid her. But this test was assuming they both agreed not to use it. For now though, she wasn't using nearly half of her speed and so the Kushiban caught up quickly and would ask her what their mission was.

She spoke as she ran, so her words came out kind of breathy, "Well, another reason I came here...aside from looking for my...master, was that there's this deal see? The Black Corporation is...a huge spacecraft manufacturer. If we...can get them to join the Galactic Alliance...it would be a...huge win for our side."

Kae'Leigh came to a stop as she waited for a bridge to descend so they could cross; a boat had come through and was almost on the other side. Continuing, "This metal file case I'm carrying, it's a slicing deck. I plan on sneaking it into the meeting room and using it to copy the data of the executives inside. What the G.A. does with it after that, well I try not to think about that part."

He kept up with the woman just fine, staying on two feet. He could run much faster on all fours, but that usually wasn't needed.

He nodded thoughtfully, he was fine with sneaking in somewhere, they had stolen something the last time they had met.

"Uhhh...Master?" he said trying the term on for size. It felt weird. Maybe he should have asked, but that's what he had seen other Padawans call their masters. "If we wanted them to join the Alliance, why are we breaking in?" he asked tilting his head curiously. Maybe he shouldn't have questioned her, but he didn't know. Wasn't that what she was supposed to do? Help him understand things.

"Couldn't we just ask them to join us?" he added a second later before they could respond. His eyes went down to file case she carried.

It may have felt weird to Firen, but he had no idea how weird it sounded to Kae'Leigh. It threw her off guard for a moment. At first she didn't even realize he was speaking to her. But then when it clicked in her head, the first thing she could think of was him speaking to her like she'd owned him. There was no pretense for the thought other than she had gone her whole life afraid of one day becoming a slave. It was her whole reason for always looking over her shoulder. So hearing him call her that word, it was wrong.

But, Kae'Leigh knew this is how the Jedi were. Master was a term of endearment. A sign of praise, admiration, and respect. As much as she wished the two words were different, this was the reality. And if she were to stay true to the Jedi way of teachings, she would need to abide by them. She'd have to get used to him calling her as such.

As she thought this over, she realized then he'd been asking her a question. She apologized and asked him to repeat it. Her answer was simple though, if not upsetting. And troubling. "The Black Family only thinks about themselves and their own wealth. Trust me, the Alliance has already tried to get through to them. So we're bringing in the tough love. One way or another, they're joining our cause."

Kae'Leigh took them to a building nearest one of the hangar bays on the far East side of the complex. The large shield domes protected the inhabitants within, and to travel to another dome one would need a space craft. The building was a large executive building where people from all over came to do business. A trading depot she was told prior to this adventure. Here, clients could buy and trade their stock to their hearts content. It was also a place with a lot of security. Which is exactly why the Blacks had chosen this as their meeting place.

But security was only tight in some places. Specifically, the front gate. To even get into the building they would need to pass a check point. Kae'Leigh moved into the line with about a dozen people ahead of her and whispered quietly so that only Firen's large ears would be able to pick up the sound.

"Tuck your saber into your sleeve. They won't check us, but if they see the weapons they'll take it."

As such, Kae'Leigh would reach behind her with her briefcase in one hand, her other snatching her saber off her belt before moving it out of sight of the case. When she brought the briefcase back around, the saber was gone. She said nothing while doing this, and kept her eyes firmly ahead of her. She looked like she was just taking in the sights of the large room waiting for them on the other side, but her eyes were scanning for potential threats. She was also looking for the occasional security guard walking around, while also scoping out all the exists and entrances (this included counting the number of lifts she could see to other floors).

When it was their turn in line, Kae'Leigh reached into one of her pockets on her belt and came back out with a card. She swiped it into the reader and for a moment nothing happened. Everyone else's cards that had been swiped turn green immediately. But it was only a second or so delay and the light flashed green allowing her to pass. She smiled and walked through, having Firen move with her before she let the gate lock behind her. There were plenty of guards watching them, but they were only looking for people with weapons or who didn't have cards to get through. They should have been looking out for slicers. Kae'Leigh could have a field day with all this data around her. Another day perhaps.

"We need to head up to the seventh floor," she told Firen once they cleared the main gate. "That's where Black will be arriving."

Her eyes would once again start scanning the room for the rest of the blind spots she hadn't been able to see. Then, she gestured her head up to one of the glass lifts. If Firen took the hint and looked, he'd see a wealthy executive in a black and red suit. On either side of him were two droids that didn't look like mere protocol droids. Kae'Leigh suspected they'd been upgraded for combat. And while they didn't appear to have weapons on them, she knew of plenty good ways to hardwire a droid to make them deadly on their own.

"Those are going to be a problem," she admitted to herself. While she and Firen still had their blades, she didn't know if he was ready for combat if fighting were to break out.

Firen listened to the Jedi explain the reasoning behind her method of attack. She didn't have to explain herself to him, but he nodded gratefully. He was already learning things but he guessed that was kind of the whole point.

He followed her inside. His ears twitched as she whispered, picking up on the words easily enough. He took the hilt and tucked it inside his sleeve. He had found that people overlooked him anyway. He had once walked into a secure building with a blaster on his hip and the security guard had assumed it was a toy. People were dumb sometimes. The thought made him snicker slightly.

They made their way to the lift, and Kae'Leigh swiped her card granting them access. The guards looked on lazily as the two Jedi climbed inside. Bland music played as they made their way the 7th floor.

He still wasn't exactly clear what they were going to do to this man when they caught up with him, but he would follow the lead of the senior Jedi.

"It wouldn't be any fun if there wasn't some trouble." he said, looking up at her and smiling. He had been fighting with the rebels for a good while and he had plenty of combat skills. He had even practiced a little with training lightsabers, but it would probably be best to avoid using that weapon until he could learn more.
