For millennia we have prospered on Dathomir. For millennia we have evolved to become the perfect predator. The White Witches despise us for our ways, yet some of our sisters hate us; for the Sisters of the Stormstride accept all into our ranks, even those offworld. Of course, women still rule the order; yet we are not blind like our Sisters on either side. A man who shows himself to be blessed by the Winged Goddess and Fanged God will be accepted as the equal of a lesser Sister, he may take charge over his fellows. “Why?” They ask. “Why do the Sisters of the Stormstride do this?” For us the answers are simple: To remain the perfect predator now that the thrice-cursed Sith are knocking at our door and that it is time we adapt to the greater galaxy. Through our new sisters and brothers, we now have the means to venture to the stars as the Book of Shadows speak. To think we broke from the Orthodoxy of our misguided sisters who languish with their morals, only to develop one of our own. Like them we treat our own with kindness, to the extent that even the Rancors will join with us in defence of our homeworld. Dathomir will not fall into Sith hands, By the magicks of our ancestors and by the invader’s own arts we destroy them. With our small fleet, we ply the stars for wealth, to secure the destiny promised by the Book of Shadows. It is as our first Clan Mother said: “Plant the seed that will yield great fruits.” It is now that we understand what she truly meant.

Clan Mother Vyrzahl Kushara

Origins, Teachings and History

Radical even by the standards held by the Fallen witches, The Nightsisters of the Stormstride, or simply the Stormstride Nightsisters are a Nightsister clan that emerged from several Covens that shared common ideals on how to adapt to the galaxy in the year 705 ABY. Given their progressive ideals, the Light-sided Witches of Dathomir despise them even more for they go further against the laws of Allya. Some of their fellow Nightsisters shun them, for fear the ideas of the Nightsisters of the Stormstride may inspire their own into defection or outright rebellion. Given that the clans from which the Sisters were formed from lacked a Clan mother, the newly assembled clan elected the most powerful and politically able to lead them. Her name was Inaryana Tzimvad. Upon her ascension, the newly elected Clan mother revealed the text that the Sisters of the Stormstride have collaborated on, the Writ of the Predator.

In effect, the writ made many changes to the clan’s structure. The first tenant that was established is that the men are no longer slaves, but only those who show signs of being blessed by the Twin Gods can be trained in the arts. Such reforms however didn‘t change the Matriarchal structure of the clan. The second tenant was that the Stormstride Nightsisters could take in Force-Sensitives who do not hail from Dathomir, even disillusioned Jedi or Sith. The writ also required each new Clan mother to record her new insights for the clan. After Inaryana’s death at the hands of Light Witches after a rule of 60 years at the age of 200, the ranks of the Sisters of the Stormstride began to grow under the reign of Dathomirian-descended, Zabrak Clan mother Taal‘ona Kashura. Not only from the birth rate of Sisters and the further inclusion of malelings in clan life , but the fact that more offworlders were joining the clan, meaning it was no longer just humans among them. Among these were disillusioned Jedi and Sith, who brought their knowledge with them. Despite this, lightsabers are rare and many wield the traditional weapons of the Nightsisters. You can expect them to have knowledge of the Forms of lightsaber combat and are known to meld it with traditional Dathomiri martial arts. In recent Millennia, the Sisters of the Stormstride have taken to the stars; they accomplished the wish of every Nightsisterwhoever breathed. To reach the heavens. This was when Taal‘ona made her most important addition to the Writ of the Predator; that the Clan was to sell their services to the highest bidder. Whilst it served as a good source of income for theclan, it served two other purposes. To secure potential Nightsisters as well as to scour for skilled pilots and farmers. Some joined willingly, others were either coerced or press ganged into it. Thus, this led to the Clan displaying further pride in their inclusion-based policies. Eventually in 910 ABY, Taal’ona died of old age, not even the magicks of the Nightsisters could make her live past 305. Her daughter and present Clan mother, Vyrzahl Kashura ascended to her mother‘s position. It would be her tenure that would prove itself in the most challenging time for the Stormstride clan.

In 1013 ABY, the newly arisen Sith Imperium had their campaign pushing closer towards Dathomir. Fearing that they would be destroyed, the Witch clans set aside their hatred for the Nightsisters and sent envoys to request a conclave. Vyrzahl’s clan attended and what they saw was utter chaos; the Force traditions of Dathomir were at each other’s throats. A millennia of resentment and hatred was finally spilling over. Frustrated, the Stormstride Clan mother scattered bolts of Amethyst lightning into the sky, silencing the anarchy. What she said was simple:

“We face oblivion together! we must set aside our feud lest the Sith destroy us all. Only once we have defended our home, can we get back to our conflicts.”

For now, there is a peace on Dathomir that hasn’t existed since the arrival of Allya and the foundation of the Witches. It was agreed that all clans and covens were to set aside their blood feud until the threat of the Sith Imperium is abated. It is a tense peace however, it would take one spark to ignite the keg, plunging the entire planet into a immense civil war. After the conclave, Vyrzhal added her next piece of enlightenment to the Writ of the Predator. This ordered the formation of the Nightfists, a non Force-Sensitive militia, in realisation that neither the Nightsisters or the Witches are enough to stop the Sith from destroying them. Most of their recruits are runaway slaves, who in turn for their service, are freed to serve the clan as free men. To help lead this army, and the Nightsisters in battle, the Clan Mother created the title of Nightfather.

See here, note that the Clan Mother is obviously a very powerful shaman.

Shaman
Wielders of Dathomiri magic, the Shaman primarily uses the Force to destroy the enemies of the clan. Having been enlightened by the spirits of Nightsister legend, they serve as a conduit between the spirit world. Shaman initiates begin with 2 Dathomiri spells of their own choice, as well the beginner powers.

Hunters

Famed wielders of the energy bow and notorious for their red garments and tracking abilities, the Hunters the epitome of Nightsister stealth operations. Hunter initiates begin with the Blood trail Dathomiri spell and low level Force Stealth.

Warriors

Not all Nightsisters and Nightbrothers favour subtlety, some like to lay into their opponents with axe and blade. Warrior initiates begin with a single Dathomiri enhancement spell of their choice.

Beastwarden

Expert tamers of Dathomir's beasts, the Beastwardens are known for their ability to get even Rancors on their side. A Beastwarden initiate begins with low level Animal friendship.

Shadow-Killer

Notorious Nightsister assassins, rumoured to be able to vanish without a trace when on the hunt. A Shadow-Killer initiate begins with low-level Force Cloak.

Note that Nightbrothers don’t have the same level of authority, unless he is blessed by the Clan Mother. Also note that the faction always handles Force powers like the Jedi and Sith. Initiates, if you choose to start as one, began with the basics as well as the Dathomiri spell their Specialisation brings. Training will of course be available.

Clan mother: The leader of a Nightsister clan, the Clan mother holds all authority; political and spiritual. Vyrzhal Kashura is the current Clan mother of the Stormstride clan.

Nightfather: Both a demonstration of progression and a necessity, the rank of Nightfather is one of the latest military reforms instituted by Clan Mother Vyrzhal. Just as she represents the arcane mystique of the Nightsisters, the Nightfather embodies the Clan's retribution. Whilst still submissive to the Clan Mother, the two are considered a physical representation of the Winged Goddess and Fanged God, and she is loathe to not consider his plans and advice.

Elders: The peculiar Force magicks wielded by the Nightsisters seems to expand their lifespans. Elders hold much respect in their path and are generally the best in their role.

Nightsister/brother: Must pass the three trials to be considered as such. As long as they are mentioned in your profile you will be fine.

imagesCAKQZ486_zpsda60aa66.jpg

Initiate: Either a child or recently inducted into the clan.

The Nightfist are the legs and arms that outreach from the Nightsister Stronghold. While not force-sensitive, these individual are highly skilled in both armed and unarmed combat, and are put through a rigorous training regiment that mirrors both the boot camp of the Imperium Army, and the padawan trials of the Jedi Order. Within the Nightfist there is a hierarchy of ranks that denote power, influence, and skill. Within these ranks, Individuals who tend to favor one form of combat over another are given designations, to further intimidate enemies, and help distinguish the one from another.

RANKING

FLEDGLING: The prospect of the Nightfist. These individuals consist of off worlders who have surrendered to the Coven, forfeiting their lives to the family, and children who were not chosen by the Twin Gods to embody the force. They are given simply vibroblades and vibro-axes to wield in combat and are forced to scavenge and weave their own armor.

CONSCRIPT: The foundation of the Nightfist. These men and women are trained, hardened, and disciplined members who have found their home on this planet and have accepted and learned the Nightsister way. These individuals are bestowed a choice of a Vibroblade, Vibro-axe, vibro-knucklers, energy bow and arrow, battle hammer, vibro-whip, or a variety of other weaponry. Their armor is weaved by the Beast-Warden Sisters who have been tasked with equipping the troops with sufficient protection. It is here that warriors learn to use a variety of weapons and begin to establish a niche.

CHAMPION: Recognized for his or her valor in battle, a Champion is the next designation above Conscript. Champions are tried and true warrirors, who know their way around a weapon set, and have used it to further the cause of the Nightsisters. Champions are the first rank to be given a specialty designation, and are the lowest ranked grunt who will be respected by genuine Nightsisters.

Baron/Lady: Seen as a sign of nobility, a Baron or Lady is what most underlings of the coven aspire to be. These individuals have not only proven their worth on the battlefield, but in the political structure of The Stormstride as well. Using their brains as well as their fists, these nobles are extremely deadly in combat, and extensively influential in the goings on of coven affairs. Often enough, these individuals will be delegates as advisers to Warlords, and although they do not have complete say over what actions the Nightfist take- they do possess a voice in the ear of the Warlords who do control these instances. The Baron/Lady rank is the first one to be bestowed Enchanted Weaponry from the Nightsister Shaman.

WARLORD: Undisputed masters of their domain, there is only ever 4 Warlords within the Stormstride cult, and these men and women are the most influential aside from Nightfather Xakoxa. The authority to lead troops into battle rests solely on the Warlords shoulders. Should all four slots be filled, a new Warlord may only be appointed if: -An existing Warlord abdicates his/her position. -The Clan Mother or Nightfather see a position is not being utilized to its full potential. -The Nightsister Elders unanimously agree on expulsion/appointment -War-time requires an expansion of forces.

SPECIALIZATIONS

Each Nightfist will be given a variety of weaponry to try, learn, and master throughout their career as a soldier. When a soldier inevitably becomes fixated on a single style, he or she shall be denoted with a tag that suits that fighting style.

~Brawler- A soldier who prefers to use bare hands, vibro-knucklers, or hammer weaponry. These individuals tend to be hulking in size, and often capitalize on their immense size and strength. Once an individual can master his strength and harness his rage to better suit his fighting capability, He will don a shock collar to help stimulate his rage, and will hence forth be known as a Berserker.

~Invader- Focused on speed and pin-point precision, the invader prefers small bladed weapons and poisons over others. Equipped with small vibroblades, vibroshivs, throwing knives, and poisoned blow-guns, these individuals tend to be light, small, and quick. They borrow heavily from their Nightsister counterparts: The Hunters, and often study under them to learn new and improved battle techniques. Once their skill has reached its pinnacle, a nightsister energy bow will be given to an Invader and they will be deemed an honorary Executioner.

~Brute- The Brute is the poster child of the Nightfist militia. Tall, tones, and trained, these men and women wield large vibroblades, vibro-axes, and vibro-staff or vibro-lance as well as being given the luxury of carrying Rancor skin shields. Taught extensive training against all forms of assault, even given blaster-evasion training, the Brute are a well rounded unit who- when paired with another Nightfist soldier -will capitalize and cover any short comings his allies might possess. When a Brute can display his power across the battlefield, he will begin training duel-wielding his weaponry, and be given the option of added durasteel armor, however the weight of which will be a substantial detriment to movement and mobility. These championed Brutes will henceforth be known as Gladiators.

~Slaver- Equipped with unique and hard to use weaponry, the Nightfist Slavers hold a very special duty within the coven. Wielding the unconventional vibro-whip, vibro-dagger, and vibro-mace: these individuals take pride in their ability to not only kill- but capture. Working closely with the Nightsister Beast-wardens, these men and women learn persuasion and capture techniques mirrored by the wardens used on wildlife, and hold the ability to capture enemies and enslave them within our Fledgling class of soldier, rending the Slaver a valuable asset to have on the battlefield. Once they have conscripted a war force of their own, they will be given collars, chains, and other fixtures necessary to lead their servants into battle to further do their bidding. These chief Slavers earn the moniker Dominator or Dominatrix.

The Eye of the Storm (Enclave)

The base of operations for the Nightsisters of the Stormstride clan. Hidden in the mountains and surrounded by vast woodland, only its members know where the Enclave lies. Although primitive, it does include a hangar built into the mountains for the Nightsister’s ships. It houses many relics in underground catacombs and is filled to the brim with traps aimed at trespassers, both physical and arcane. Yet the Stormstride Nightsisters rarely stay for long, they are always on the move for their Clan mother and know that remaining in a single place for too long is a bad idea.

There are several items that exist within the clan treasury that have been enchanted by the Shamans of the past. These relics belong to no-one, save for the Clan itself. Any member can ask for one to use for a task, but it must be returned. Here are the 3 that the Stormstride begins with:

Talisman of Finding: An old artefact that attunes itself to the essence of user's quarry, allowing them to home in on the target wherever they may be.

Talisman of Counter-Spell: A truly ancient relic that is no as powerful as it used to be. For a time it can fend off the spirit abilities of another foe, but requires re-imbuement after usage.

Totem of Fire*: A rare item that allows the bearer to summon a creature of flame. One must be wary, for it may not pay heed to the current bearer.

Any suggestions on how to make it better?

Alrighty people, added the levels of Dathomirian spells. A special mention has been given to Empress' own article on the usage of Force powers, this one goes out to you :CHappy .

Also, Batty is working on the layout for the Nightfists, our non Force-Sensitive branch, as well as a special spec-ops group of Nightsisters. Anyone who is curious PM either me or Batty.

Thanks to Batty, we now have the ranks and Specialisations for the Nightfists. We will be creating a treasure trove of enchanted items, it will start off small. However it will grow as the faction progresses.

Hey Lavi, would it be possible to archive the Nightsisters please? I feel I can no longer make any progress with these lasses.
