Background
Nikolai grew up on Nar Shaddaa, deep in the heart of Hutt Space. His mother was a spice addict who didn't put much effort into raising her son, though she still claimed to love him fiercely. Nikolai had no idea who his father was, as his mother had often gotten around in order to appease her addictions. She withered her life away in front of Nikolai's eyes, not caring what she exposed herself or her son to as he matured.
For as long as he could remember, Nikolai has always had an unusually strong connection in the force. His mother knew all too well that on Nar Shaddaa it was a curse as much as it was a blessing, and tried to hide his sensitivity from those around them out of fear that the gangs might try and exploit Nikolai's powers to further their own agendas.
On such a harrowing world, you either grew up fast or you didn't grow up at all. Nikolai was very aware of the gang culture that surrounded him, as much as his mother attempted to shield him from it - albeit modestly. Fortunately for the boy, he was discovered by the Jedi while still relatively young. A Knight of the Order, who had business nearby on the planet; felt Nikolai's through the force and went to seek him out. After finding him and consulting with his mother, the Jedi Knight convinced her that her son would have a much better life in the Order, and that he could train him to be a guardian of the galaxy.
Nikolai was heartbroken and very reluctant to leave his mother, however. He promised her that he would come visit as often as he could, and that he wouldn't ever dare to forget about her.
The Jedi took Nikolai back to their temple on Tython. It was here that he spent the rest of his childhood, finally received a proper education, and became a true Jedi of the Order. From start to finish he was extremely ambitious and keen on impressing his instructors whenever he could. This caused some to question if the Jedi life was right for him, but nevertheless the boy persevered.
Nikolai was particularly fascinated with his combat lessons, and was renowned for his prowess and abilities with his training saber. As he grew older, he became more and more anxious to finish his training and use his powers to get things accomplished in the galaxy. When Nikolai was finally made a Knight in the Order many years later, he ultimately decided to follow the Jedi Lord, as many others did, into future conflicts against the emerging Sith Brotherhood.
Personality
Nikolai is often described as being reckless and unpredictable. He follows his own code, which is loosely based off of that of the Order. As a youngling and padawan, he had tried his best to follow the original Jedi principles, though often found himself clashing with the very core of their ideals. This has always been a problem for the young Jedi, as he cannot seem to control his emotions in difficult situations. Nikolai fit right in with his generation of Jedi, who all seemed to experience a cultural shift with the resurgence of the Sith.
Growing up in the diverse slums of Nar Shaddaa has allowed Nikolai to be more open minded about others and their xeno ways of living. He is considerate when it comes to those he deems good people, and Nikolai is nothing if not resilient when it comes to protecting his loved ones. With his big sense of humor and ability to carry on a good conversation, Nikolai could also be considered a crowd pleaser.

The first form Nikolai studied, as is the case with most Jedi.
Form IV: Ataru - ADVANCED
Nikolai specializes in Form IV, as it suits his person and he is naturally an agressive fighter.
Form V: Shien - NOVICE
Nikolai has slightly dabbled in Form V, as he plans on using it as a second form to his more commonly used Ataru. Currently, he can't do much with it as he is far from proficiency.
Acrobatics - ADVANCED
Nikolai has worked long and hard on using the force to aid him in his maneuvers, as is common with Jedi who practice Form IV.
Force Push/Pull - ADEPT
Nikolai, like most other Jedi, has honed his force push and pull abilities.
Force Sense - NOVICE
Nikolai is working on trying to better his understanding of opening his mind and sensing things through the force.
