The Jedi Shrine.

The temptation of power, forbidden knowledge, even the desire to do good can lead some down that path.

They all had been sent messages through the Alliance. He'd requested permission from Commander Ion to remove these individuals from the fight. He sat outside the cavern entrance, Anoat's frigid air biting at his robes; the Force holding his consciousness and keeping his vigil. His senses attuned to the wellspring of Force energy that the spring provided. He’d spent days after transporting Jorrin to Ion’s custody and now he could sense the Kirin out on the ice flat.

It had been weeks since his first sessions with them, each of them had showed courage, and an attunement to the Force. Horus, Jake and Nikka had shown that they could travel along the way. The encounter with Jorrin had shaken Luy. This time out in the harsh cold of Anoat, at the peaceful Shrine that he and Vu’thari had found, was becalming and spiritually fortifying.

The song of the wind across the mountains was joined by a whine of engines. Sub-light thrusters from ships. Ships that either knew the landing site of could pick up Luy or the Kirin. The stern, solid face of Luy, set to endure the elements changed. His brow rose, eyes closed and a broad smile spread across his face. He stood up in his near frozen robes and opened his arms. A laugh was snatched away from the wind as he stood up on the promontory point of the mountainside. His voice struggled against the wind. “BWAHAHA" It is good that you have arrived here, a challenge of itself! Hopefully you will come to find this as our refuge...” he turned to the arrival and then signalled to the cave. “... Welcome to Anoat, cold, remote and more importantly brimming with the Force.

Horus had heard the rumors. Yet another Jedi related area freed through the efforts of the Eldrin that led the Jedi Order, rebuilding it from the ground up. He'd come at the behest of Master Luy, whom he hadn't seen in some time, being away on various missions for the Alliance. He had also heard a less than stellar rumor about a battle between Master Luy and an upstart initiate. He hoped that was simply nothing but gossip. Nonetheless, he had put The Winter's Crest down some ways away from the actual mountainside itself, preferring to make a small trek on foot. By the time he arrived, he was early, and so found Luy in his usual jovial state. His own armor had been padded for the cold, but instead, he wore his leather tunic and such with ceremonial regard.

"Eldrin. It's good to see you again."

It had indeed been a challenge piloting the ship to any position that could be considered a decent landing spot. It hadn't been nearly as difficult walking a few feet, however, if that was the older being was mentioning. Bowing low, he nodded calmly and returned upright, walking in a semicircle, patiently waiting for the others. He was eager to continue his training, his recent meeting with his younger sister had only enforced in his mind the need for the Jedi's imminent return. She had become a Sith after what turned out to be a capture years ago. Horus and his brother had assumed her dead, but her true fate was far worse. He needed the knowledge to help her, however, he could, and failing in that to simply help the Order evolve and flourish as it was meant to do. Horus stopped moving and leaned backward and forth on his toes slightly to keep them warm, rubbing his hands together and breathing the air in deeply.

"I hope you're well."

She wished that she could say that flying in blind was a good test of faith.

She wished that flying as a biologically blind female mechanic was not as much a trace of madness as it seemed.

Trusting the Force was one thing... having something else do the flying for her was an entirely different matter. But having Horus on board made it somewhat better. She respected the male quite a bit, especially after the sparring rounds and training shared. She hadn't much family, but the clan was much like it. And if her instincts were correct, now was the time for proving of mettle. She was calm, and prepared. It must be something difficult; why else go to such a cold planet?

The moment they had landed, she pulled on her outer robes, gloves, and thrown over the hood. The cold was something that she had experienced before, on other planets and moons... but that didn't mean she enjoyed it any more than she had to. Instead, she took a deep breath in as the air eddied in through her lungs, and grinned widely. It had not been long..

She, too, heard the Master's booming voice muffled faintly by the wind that rippled outside the ship. An answering grin lifted the corners of her lips, as she steadily stepped out, her Vision showing the master's outline as bright and flaring as a sun.. or, at least, that was how she could feel it in her mind. Vibrant and as alive as ever, did that old Feeorin wait in the cold and still feel that jovial?

A chuckle rose behind Horus, stepping around. She gave a bow, the grin on her lips as wide as ever. "Master. I'm so glad to see you again. It's been too long." If she had eyes, they would be sparkling in delight, but instead she was relaxed, calm, a far cry from the anxious Miraluka that had paced before him, wondering at the uselessness she had thought she was. How blind she was. And yet...

She did not sense Jake or Sugai. Perhaps they were early... a first for her. She looked forward to spending more time in the Master's presence, for the time being relieved of all that had happened in the short amount of a few weeks. Spending time with those she knew in Savareen and other places, she was ready to be in one place for more than a week once again.

There was little else she could say at the moment. How are you? Did you find others? How was the Kirin faring? Instead, she took a deep breath, and settled into her own mind. There was little else she could do, apart from meditate for the time being.

There is a time for action, and inaction, a voice in her head whispered.

She thought on that for a moment, wondering where she had heard it, when she took a deep breath, and settled in for the wait near the mouth of the cave. She wasn't in any hurry. After all... they had time.

Jake decided to land at the expected meeting point. His small fighter easily finding a home on the landing ground. Powering down the fighter Jake opened the cockpit as fresh air filled his lungs. He was hear once again at the request of Jedi Master Luy, his Master in the way of the force and the light side. A far better master than any master that one would find in the Sith empire

Climbing out the cockpit Jake jumped from the snub fighter to the ground and walked over to the sound of Luy's booming voice. It was a voice Jake could hear from a mile away. Walking towards the sound Jake Raised his hand and waved at the Jedi master and fellow Hopefuls. "Master Luy, everyone, it is so good to meet you all again. It indeed as been to long"

Jedi Shrine
Anoat

“... Welcome to Anoat, cold, remote and more importantly brimming with the Force.”

“Fortunately, it warms up significantly inside…”

Emerging from the cave was one of the Jedi teachers known as Vu’thari. Luy and the twi’lek were the only two aliens among the five. He dusted his pinkish-skinned hands off as if he had been working from within the cave. Garbed in blacks, grays and dark browns, the twi’lek hardly appeared as a Jedi, but something more akin to a woodsman or spacer. A warm smile greeted Luy and the others. He gave Jake a knowing nod, having been on a Galactic Alliance operation with him weeks previously. Looking over to Horus and Nikka, he inquired innocently, “Your Master was able to guide you here? I thought for sure with his aging eye sight he would have taken you three mountains over…”

On an otherwise serious face, a wink was given to the large Feorrin, letting the aspiring Jedi in on the jest. Meeting the eyes of each of them, the twi’lek stated warmly, “I am Vu’thari. Things should be fairly clean for you. Let’s just say it needed some ‘touching up’. Pleasure to see all of you again…”

Anoat did not harbor pleasant memories for Master Blackwood. Her very first excursion to the chilled world had ended with her grabbing Val’s ass and staring down the most brooding Sith. A Mandalorian love triangle was thrown in for good measure. No, Aurora most certainly did not enjoy the little-known namesake of the Anoat system. She preferred Hoth, cold, uninhabited, and free of doe eyed Sith. Aurora would have never set foot on Anoat again if she would have had her way. Sadly, she did not. The Morellian Master felt a certain responsibility to Luy after what had happened with Jorrin. That had been a disaster in the making. One she never wanted to be part of and resolved to head off before it could ever happen again.

Luy’s crop of students was ready for the next step. Her fellow Master had asked for her attendance and Aurora had obliged. She would be far more involved. She could no longer afford to focus solely on her students. The Order was growing rapidly, and they could not longer afford to be so insular. They could not be blind. Aurora would not be blind. The cold air whipped through her robes. She was among friends and so dressed accordingly. She looked every inch the Jedi Master. Brown robes, leather boots, flowing synthweave clothes. Her lightsaber was hidden, and her Force signature suppressed out of habit. Aurora was taking more chances but not that many.

The Force combated the frozen wind. She nodded to herself, she cut on imposing figure when she tried hard enough. Aurora arrived after Luy, Vu’thari, and a handful of the students. Oh well, she had tried to be on time. Master Blackwood took her place beside her fellow Masters. She lowered her voice for Luy and Vu’Thari. “So…which ones do I get to entertain.” A small smile spread across her face. “I promise I’ll be nice…assuming none try to kill me this time.” Her smile grew wider. If you couldn’t laugh about the terrible things in life, what was the point?

Yes, it is warmer inside, so how about we continue these pleasantries inside?

Her voice cut through the cold air not long following Vu'thari's earlier remark. While her words may have seemed indifferent, Jedi Master Leah Reach maintained a look of friendliness and camaraderie. A small grin tugged the edge of her lips. She was glad to see the students of Master Luy arrive on schedule, although she was not so glad to be outside to welcome them. Dressed in a lighter outfit, she did not feel very cozy in the polar ice caps of the Outer-Rim planet. Anoat was no tropical haven or blistering desert, not like Mon Cala or Savareen, worlds she was more accustomed to. Rather, the Jedi shrine was cold, and Leah was dealing with some serious whiplash. To say the least, she preferred staying snug indoors.

Presently ignoring the thought, she greeted Luy’s students. “But indeed, welcome to Anoat. I am Jedi Master Leah Reach. You may remember me as an ambassador of the Council but here, please refer to me otherwise.” She gestured over to Aurora who arrived along with her. "And this is Master Blackwood. Don't mind her. As long as you try not to murder anyone, she'll try not doing the same." A joking smile and chuckle followed. Leah liked to think she was a close friend of Aurora, even if the pair had only met and spoke on three different occasions. Often not on the best terms. Alright, maybe they weren't very close after all.

Her eyes lingered between each of the young Jedi hopefuls. Among them, there were only three, two of which she failed to recognize. The only one she could distinguish was the boy Jake, whom she had met during the final operations on Ruusan. He had proven to be a brilliant soldier, and she had no doubts he grow to be an exceptional Jedi too. As her gaze was shared with his, Leah gave a gentle, regarding nod. A continued sign of respect between the two.

But come inside, please. There is much to discuss.” Her smile stretched a little, expecting that the others shared her sentiment about standing aimlessly in the cold. Turning around, her hair streaming freely in the air, Leah gestured the others inside. Presuming that Valentine was either hiding behind her or still meditating in the confines of the sanctuary, she expected them to crop up just before their trials. As she walked, the Jedi likewise expected Luy to explain why they were there, what was meant to happen, and what may come after. Nothing like a quick review to refresh Leah’s mind too.

His mighty hands folded into his wide sleeves. Horus’ bow was returned with a bow of the head. “I am going to see my young clan flourish into the newest blooms of the Force’s great tree. To strengthen the bonds of all and to give Light to the universe.” he had a stern face on as he stated his thoughts on Horus’ questioning. Then his smile and genial sparkle returned as he clapped his student’s shoulder. "Ha-ha! I am joyous and all the more happy to see the faces of each of you. Commander Ion has briefed me on your exploits, that Mig fellow is certainly a character; from what I hear..

As she stepped out and bowed, Luy turned and reciprocated. “Nikka, the Kirin misses your skill. But certainly others benefit from your efforts.” As she greeted him, the wise old Feeorin’s stoic face cracked into a half smile. “It certainly has, young Initiate. Perhaps after today, it might not be so long until we see each other again.” His brow shot up and his hands lifted in apology. “Not that I am wanting to break this meeting sooner than needed.

Luy then sidled past the two and squinted against the cold. His large arm rse and began to wave as Jake arrived. His hand shot out and grabbed the young Initiates frozen hand. “Once more you have all braved the unknown in search of the knowledge that will all make you great.” He pulled them all close to him and then looked as his fellow Masters emerged from the cave entrance. He then let go of his embrace and stepped out to join them, his hand placing on each of their shoulders, his hand offered to each and shaking them in turn. As each spoke up, Luy watched the scene. The other Masters taking in his small clan.

Your Master was able to guide you here? I thought for sure with his aging eye sight he would have taken you three mountains over…

I promise I’ll be nice…assuming none try to kill me this time.

The students would see each jibe land, a wince or twitch visible from facial tendrils to his upper lip and his brow furrowing. Before he could retort Master Reach spoke and he signalled with an arm for the clan to enter. The large Feeorin squeezed through the crack to the altar, and reached out with the Force to open the access. Below them, down a winding stair the sound of flowing water. A large cavern, lit by a few glow-globes and the bioluminescence of the algae and moss of the cave. “Welcome to the Shrine of Anoat, Clan Bergruutfa.” His arms raised to encompass the entrance hall and main meeting area. Finally standing before the internal waterfall of fresh melt water, he turned to face them all. “It is written in the annals of the Jedi Order that there comes a point in which Initiates must be tested. Should you pass your three Trials, concocted by my fellow Masters and I, then you will join the Order as Padawans. Maybe you will take a new Master…” Luy’s face had been set to an official calm, but at this his chin dipped, his head tilting forward. “... or perhaps this blind, useless old relic will still serve the Force in teaching you more.” He looked to each of them, ensuring that he caught each of their gazes.

Now, Jake, you will go with Master Blackwood. The sparring room. Ensure that you show her the fruits of your discipline training. Master Blackwood, this can be done through combat, meditation or through using the Force. You are to test my Initiate.” He bowed to the pair. Then turned to Horus. “Horus, your test will be with Master Reach, I expect that my friend will test you on your connection to the Force and what it means to you. You can use the dormitories or the Audience chamber. This test shall be a strong indicator for you suitableness to continue as a Jedi.” He bowed to each in turn. His hands moved into his sleeves as he turned to one of his first Initiates. “Nikka. Vu’thari here is young. But his mind is so similar to the genius of yours. Both gifted in the knowledge of materials and technology. But his knowledge and kinship to the Force is stronger. He will test your connection to the Force here.As the Master whose clan this is, I am only here to facilitate and observe the final tests. We are all Masters of the Force. Respect the Wisdom of your new tutors, however brief your time with them shall be.

He turned to face the fountain and kneeled down. Tradition forbade him from testing their knowledge of the code, all else had him too bias. He was glad, after the events with Jorrin, his confidence in his right to the title of Master was shaken. He only repeated the words he heard once, and had read ater. How he hoped for the future of the Force.

A smile crossed his lips and washed away just as quickly as he received a nod in return. It seemed only the one known as Sugei was missing, and it became clear the rumors where factual. The hug that followed made him laugh even harder, and he embraced the Feeorin gently. If this was true, then perhaps the training was more difficult than even he anticipated. But, he had a duty to his father, his brother, his sister, and the Vahla who came before to attempt these tests and succeed. He'd deduced that was the main purpose of the entire situation when he received the summons. The last time he had seen Master Luy it had been during the time they trained personally, and he had informed the young Vahla this was the next step. Despite himself, he was ready. For most things, not to find three other Eldrins (Vahlan for Master) of the Order to be present. They goaded with the older Jedi Master, and he couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head.

"Eldrins. Seems we stumbled on an inside joke... but it is good to see we're moving up. Pity about that one.

I'd tend to agree with Eldrin Reach, this is a little cold for my tastes."

If he had to stand out here much longer, he had no doubt he'd get frostbite somewhere. Perhaps he was overexaggerating in his mind, but frankly, the Vahla were a species used to warm and pleasant temperatures. They were simply not built for this kind of climate. Horus had been wise enough to dress somewhat accordingly, but he had not anticipated Hoth-like cold of this degree. He listened as the Jedi said their pieces before Master Luy himself began to speak and explain what Horus had realized. This was a testing period, one where each Initiate would be passed on to a separate Master. This slightly confused the Vahla, he had known Luy best and it was he who had chosen him. The others where mysteries to him, and his natural untrusting instincts came to the fore. He didn't like revealing what he knew about the Force, but under these circumstances, it wouldn't result in indoctrination or death. So, he chose to trust them immediately and soothed the anxiety in his mind by focusing on positive thoughts.

"Only time may tell, but if I may be so bold... the Force has already guided me to a Master. No point questioning its judgment. Not to say that I don't look forward to working with you, Master Reach."

But it will be temporary. Unless... I fail. In which case, I guess I'll keep helping as I can.

Her heart dropped slightly. So the rumors were true... Sugai must have been the one that... she clamped that thought off firmly, refusing to feel the slightest hint of guilt. You cannot be responsible for all... she thought to herself. But when she heard other voices, sensed other presences, her chin tilted up slightly, separating sound from figures of light.

And oh, how they blazed in her Sight.

The emotions that eddied through the group felt very much like the first time she had met the five members of the Bergruutfa Clan. Though three stood there, she was happy for Horus and Jake. Both had a chance to succeed; she had no doubt they would be all right. As for her... she gave a grin despite the cold, and nodded to each new voice in turn, committing each to memory. They were familiar, somehow. Perhaps she had heard them before.

She smirked slightly up at Master Luy, cocking a brow. "Yes. I anticipate meeting the Kirin again, provided she hasn't been buried in a marsh again." A small joke, a nod to their first meeting. Had she known then what she would have gone through... the Miraluka touched at her bandage-looking veil absentmindedly, tilting her head thoughtfully at the Master's words.

When enveloped into the Master's embrace of the whole clan she laughed suddenly, a nearly trilling sound, and impulsively embraced back. She was quick to release when there was mention of coming indoors.

She nodded to assent, chuckling. "Yes. As much as I enjoy a brisk wind now and again... that is very wise." Humor ticked at the corners of her mouth as she followed in, careful of her step and the transparent walls in her Vision. The sound of trickling water, and the smell... it was refreshed somewhere, even from here she knew if she dipped her hand in, it would be as icy and clean as the source it came from, and as pure as crystal. So instead, she withdrew her hands into the folds of her sleeves in front of her, listening to those gathered around her for introductions.

Vu'thari... she tilted her head at the name, bowing low. Her long dark braid swung over one shoulder, long enough to nearly reach the floor. As she lifted, her head tilted up, her birdlike voice quick and nearly accentless in Basic. "It's a pleasure to meet you," the formal words seemed somewhat at odds with her remaining grin. "Someone whose talents also run with technology? I'd love to learn from you. When the trials are complete, I would enjoy trading ideas."

Her face tilted back towards Luy, whom had kneeled before another thing... a fountain pool, where even in her Vision, glowed with the light of the Force. Her shoulders relaxed. Already she could feel that familiar sensation tingling in the soles of her feet through her boots, up her legs, faintly humming in her chest and head. This place is tied intimately in the Force, she reminded herself. She steeled herself with a breath, then grinned back at her new tutor, hands clasped before her. She was relieved to be out of the colder storm... she couldn't imagine how bitter it was to unearth this temple, and to be so restored...

One last thing. At Luy's last statement, she turned and bowed to the old Master as low as she had to Vu'thari, her voice soft. "Yes... Master. Thank you." She then turned back to her new tutor, and nodded. "I look forward to the challenges that you have in store, Master Vu'thari." She was calm, alert. And as she took another breath in, she could feel it in her bones. There is still much to be done.

Jake wondered what the Jedi master meant by if non of them tried to kill her again and Jake was sure there number was greater at the start. Was it only the three of them that was left. Non the less Jake was here and master Luy had given him his task, he would be tested to see if he was worthy by master Blackwood, the Jedi master that talked about others trying to kill her. Jake hoped she did not hold any thing against him. Though she was a Jedi so he doubted that she would, that did not seem to be the Jedi way.

Giving Bow to Master Luy and then to master Blackwood Jake smiled. Finally his test to see if he wold be a Padwana. "Thank you master Luy and master blackwood I promise to not try and kill you." With a another bow Jake turned and headed for the training room and wondered how he would be tested.

"It's a pleasure to meet you...I would enjoy trading ideas."

Vu’thari nodded to the young aspiring Jedi. He replied quietly, “The pleasure is mine. Yes, I will definitely take you up on some tech-talk…a reprieve from logistics and strategy would be welcome."

"I look forward to the challenges that you have in store, Master Vu'thari."

An easy smile crossed the Jedi’s face. He gestured for her to walk with him, “Come…”

The pair walked further into the unworked caverns. Just within a few dozen feet, the temperature rose dramatically. As they walked, he looked over, “The walk of an ancient tradition can sometimes clash with the workings of the modern age. Technology is a supplement to our training. For example, you will know more about constructing your own lightsaber than most. Having this knowledge does make transitions easier, whether droids, ships, or Jedi weapons…”

Others had split off with Vu’thari and Nikka making their way into the Jedi Shrine proper. The main room had been cleared away of debris and the stonework laid bare for examination. Doors and archways broke off of the main area leading to smaller areas of the shrine. The twi’lek was proud of the work he and Luy had done to restore the ancient place. Looking over to the Miraluka, he stopped. She was unable to see. Her challenges would be different than many of the aspiring Jedi.

“The challenges you will face as a Jedi are different than most, especially with your love for technology. This can be a difficult vocation without the use of your eyes…”

He continued down a passageway that lead off to the right, dimly lit by the phosphorescent fungi located throughout the area. Stopping, he asked of the miraluka, “Tell me how you go about modifying a droid or repairing a blast door without your sight?”

A natural smile spread across her face at the sight of Leah. That smile grew as the younger woman kindly kidded. Why did Aurora feel such a strong connection with Leah Reach? Was it because they were the only two women among the five? Was it because Aurora saw some of herself in the human Jedi? It was strange. Aurora had only meet Leah a handful of times, but she felt like she’d know the woman all her life. Yes, certainly strange. Aurora stayed silent mostly. She took once chance to lean close to Leah so only the two of them could hear. “Leah, haven’t you heard? I am the nice one…the rest of you are mean.” She winked as they headed inside.

Aurora followed Luy until they all congregated inside. The Morellian Master listened carefully as Luy explained what he expected of his students. This was his show and she was just here to make sure things went smoothly. The Force knew it hadn’t exactly gone that way last time. Aurora nodded at her assignment. She eyed Jake, kid looked smart enough. The Master stepped forward, motioning Jake to follow her down the hall. “Come on kid, I don’t bite.” She spun and winked. “If you’re good.”

Her boots thudded as they made their way to the training room. The sparring area was exactly what is sounded like, a round room with all the equipment needed for training. A few practice vibroblade were scattered about the room. Aurora dove headfirst into the Force. She pointed at a blade. “Touch me with a blade and I won’t lock you in a dungeon on Hoth.” Oh, she was going to have fun with this. Sadly, Jake didn’t really know Aurora so he might find her behavior odd. Aurora was not exactly orthodox in methods, but they worked. She had a few excellent students of her own to show for it. @Andrewza @Deviant @Sangga

Be as bold as you like, Horus. No hard feelings. Master Luy is passionate and wise in every facet. I can respect the bond you two share.” She said to the young man, eying him with growing curiosity. He looked familiar. Leah was certain she had seen him somewhere outside the shadow of Jedi Master Luy, but she could not place a finger on where and when. Not that it mattered. He was a Padawan and a student meant to be trained regardless. And as long as she honored her husband, the dream of the Jedi Order and the Light Side of the Force, then would remain dedicated to such training. In this case, it involved Horus’ connection with the Force. However, Leah had something else in mind. More than another lengthy discussion.

Come, there is much to learn.” She gestured him farther into the old sanctuary. The shrine was not very large, but to the Jedi Master, it was a labyrinth of stone halls and icy caverns. She was far too used to the humid, open air of the Al’doleem sanctuary or the dim confines of the Deep Stone Crypt. Even if the shrine was discovered before then, Leah was not yet accustomed to it all. Of course, she had her destination in mind. Given a few turns and corners, she eventually came into the heart of the refuge: the meditation chamber. It was certainly not the dormitories, but it was among the strongest points on the entire planet. It was perfect for what she had planned for the young Jedi Padawan.

Luy focused on the ever rolling ripples of the fountain. The noise of instruction, of effort, greetings and answers all echoed throughout the hall. It was most interesting. The most interesting thing was his reaction to the noises. Tomes, datapads, and inscriptions. This life had been brought to him by his Masters and kept alive by the old knowledge that he found throughout his considerable years. But right now, facing the water he was weeping. When he sensed he was being watched watched they saw a solid form of a meditating Master. He saw a new galaxy coming rapidly. More violence, a brighter existence but all the more violent. The Sith would be knocked back. Very good. But a harsh, cruel galaxy. He saw his new students in his mind, Luy’s eyes tightly closed, his hands clenched; his grip holding to the old, kind ways, one that he knew in his heart could not remain, and yet his will was holding it and mentally pleading, never to let it go. That is what he saw. It wasn't really the Jedi he knew, what they were, he knew that. But he saw his students from yore, as well as those yet to come, and it resonated within him.

But who would know of this past? If he did not survive, if he did not train and educate more and then they could spread his teachings, then the old Order would come to meet the new and such a glorious thought rolled into his mind. There was a chance and this was their first step. A noise pulled him out of his revere. As he turned his eyes glistened like the sparkling waterfall.

She bowed again to Luy before she followed Vu'thari, sensing the change in the air, and being puzzled by it. She offered one last bow, and then a sideways grin. "We will meet again soon I hope, Master Luy. I can feel it," before turning away, and lengthening her stride to match Vu'thari's.

It was a relief to not have to pretend, here.

She knew her kind was a rarity among the stars. The Veil that separated her home planet from all else ensured that very few of them ventured beyond their farming lives and mediocre existence. Content within the narrow confines, most of her species found balance within the flow of the Force, but the few, like herself, that left to search the stars had to hide, and pretend behind a veil of pretense.

Striding next to Master Vu'thari, she was calm, focused. It wasn't hard to be in such a stark place. She had felt when her fellow clan-mates had gone their separate ways, and listened for a beat their echoing steps, feeling the temperature rise against her cheeks as they left the colder antechamber for... well... she wasn't quite so certain. She smiled again at the male, chin tilted up slightly when he mentioned ships and droids.

"I have worked for most of my life in shipyards and hangars... my specialty is with droids, though. I've felt a kinship to them since I was young enough to connect an optic sensor on a harvester." Her tone held a faint ring of nostalgia; it was a time of openness and freedom, unlike what she had to do for almost a complete decade. "I've had to... pretend." Almost like a reflex, her hand fluttered over the white bandage-like look of her veil, the dusky complexion of her skin a stark contrast. "Pretend to be blind, to be ignorant... pretend to not See. Nobody looks twice at a blind human groping for tools, after all." A wry note of humor, accented with a tilt of her head as she considered his words.

She took a deep breath, before replying.
