Altair’s tail swished back and forth eagerly as Clove admitted this was the best day for her, and he couldn’t stop smiling. He turned his body slightly as she did the same, their faces leaning in close. He felt her hand curl against his chest and he was convinced she could feel his heart thundering against it if she didn’t hear it somehow. When she began speaking, he felt his face heat up and it extended throughout his body. There was no controlling his tail which began to more or less wag of its own accord. He couldn’t remember the last time anyone had said something like this to him all at once and it was entirely genuine. For once, he had no doubt it was genuine. There was no ulterior motive because Clove was just like that to a fault.

“Clove..” Altair whispered softly as he stared into her eyes. His hand came up to gently cup the side of her face, “For the longest time I didn’t think someone like you would even look at someone like me,” He said with a sheepish smile, “You are so beautiful and the kindest person I ever met…. Sometimes to a disastrous degree,” He chuckled quietly, “I fell for your smile, but especially the way you smile just for me. It’s different and the way your eyes light up. I wanna be the reason for it. I wanna be the reason for your adorable little giggles and never…never the reason for tears..” Altair said quietly as a thumb brushed along her cheek, “You make me forget everything else in the galaxy..you make me wanna give everything else up because I got everythin’ I need to be happy right here,” His hand traveled down as he wrapped his arm around her and tugged her even closer as if she would simply float away if he didn’t.

“I just wanna forget the war, Jedi or Sith..” Altair sighed quietly, “I just want you to be mine and I wanna be yours,” He knew the fatal flaw of what he was saying, but he couldn’t help it at that point. He almost didn’t want to hear her response to it so he simply closed the distance to kiss her again.

It was impossible for Clove to ignore the sound of his tail rustling through the grass or the rapid heartbeat that reached her hand. They were details that, until this point, she had never noticed. And it was intoxicating. In truth, she wanted to keep going just to see him get more flushed, but Altair beat her to it. His warm touch against her cheek was enough to make her melt into a puddle already, but then came the words.

With each new kind and sweet word, her heart began to flutter in her chest, her cheeks burning a violet so bright it almost matched the Tiefling's eyes. She was unable to control her fluted ears as they swayed up and down all while she could barely believe what was happening. She had never heard those words spoken to her, but then again, she had also never experienced love like this. But it felt incredible; his words gave her the feeling as if she was floating, and she felt almost ashamed of how lackluster her confessions were in comparison to his. She pressed her head closer to his palm after feeling his thumb brush against his cheek, never taking her eyes off of him except to ogle his sheepish grin and swoon at how adorable it was.

A wave of warmth swept through her body as the Tiefling's hand moved down, pulling her closer to him while embracing her. She wasn't sure if her body was burning from her own feelings or if Altair's warm body was slowly warming hers, but she welcomed it. Her own hand grabbed the shirt beneath it and pulled it, and with it Altair, closer to her body. She truly was right where she belonged.

Altair sighed and admitted he'd rather try to forget the war, causing the mood to ever so slightly change. She felt a sadness that she hadn't experienced since the beginning of their adventure today, one that lingered around her stomach and tightly squeezed it. As soon as her oath was fulfilled, she would turn back into a Jedi, while Altair would remain a Sith. They couldn't get away from the war or the fact that they were enemies. But she never wanted anything more badly in her life. Run, leave everything behind, and be only Clove and Altair, together. That desire started to take root in her mind, sowing a thought: What if she actually ran away with him? Would that work? Would they be able to commit? Before she could figure out the logistics or come up with an answer, his lips touched hers, as if he already knew.

Clove closed her eyes and allowed her thoughts to drift away, focusing instead on Altair's warm lips. She moved as close to his body as she could, closing any space between them, her grip on his shirt tightening. Her leg, which had earlier brushed against him, began to carefully wrap around his. Her own lips relaxed gradually as the tension in her body slowly faded away, allowing her to move more naturally in sync with the Tiefling. She was obviously eager to learn more about his kisses and figure out how to make him happy, despite the fact that she was still noticeably new.

Clove let go of his shirt shyly, dancing her fingers down to the hem before ever-so-daringly reaching under the fabric to touch his skin. She had no idea where her hand was going or what she was doing; all she knew was that she wanted to touch his skin. "Do you mind?" She whispered in between the kisses, using that same time to catch her breath because no one had ever told her how confusing it was to breathe while kissing.

Altair couldn’t get enough of her, couldn’t get enough of the taste of her lips, the warm brush of her breath against his. He never knew how badly he craved it, how much he cherished it, how much more of it he wanted. He felt her leg slowly wrap around him and he shifted even closer to her. Altair gazed at her briefly as he parted from their kiss. There was no sultry grin or smirk on his face, his eyes betraying nothing but affection and passion.

He thought about bringing her back to meet his family. He thought about what it would be like to know she was his. His mind rushed through images of them walking through his family farm back home. He thought about whether or not she’d like one of his infamous pies. He thought of all the things he wanted to share with her, all the places he wanted to take her, all the moments he wanted to experience. Not a single one of them involved anything Jedi or Sith and that alone made him realize this was different than anything he had experienced before. He wanted Clove and just Clove, for all the ways she was so perfect and flawed at once. For all the ways she hurt him and he knew he hurt her, for all the ways they were stubbornly on their individual paths and had their personal codes. Something pulled them back together no matter what.

Altair’s breath caught in his throat as he felt her hand slip under his shirt and against his skin. She would feel his muscled torso under her touch and she would even feel him freeze a bit. He had been here many times with women and yet this felt as if he was venturing into it for the first time. Altair’s heart pounded against his chest as he looked at Clove, matching her almost shy gaze as she asked her question.

He gently rolled them both over so he was above her. He said nothing for a moment, reaching down to slowly slip his tank off and setting it aside. His charcoal skin was fully revealed to her for the first time, his defined and much bigger form gingerly looming above her. Her leg would still be loosely wrapped around him, his gaze meeting hers.

Altair leaned down to kiss her again, his hand reaching down to grasp hers to bring it up to his chest. He dragged her hand along his bare chest, letting her feel him however she wished. Altair leaned down and traced kisses away from her lips and towards her jaw and her collarbone where he sighed against her skin with a smile, “You make me so nervous..” He admitted barely above a whisper before pulling back to look down at her. For a moment he simply admired how beautiful she looked with her hair sprawled around her head, her gentle gaze staring up at him and the warmth of their bodies together. Altair’s hand came up to her shoulder where the sleeve of her dress was teasingly positioned along the edge of it. His fingers curled around the fabric, but he stopped there, looking back at her. She would be able to see the tenderness in his eyes, but she would also see subtlest hints of desire even if she didn’t recognize it. She would know he saw nothing else in the galaxy at that moment but her, “I wanna see you, Clove… “ He whispered as he moved the fabric just slightly towards the edge of her shoulder but no further.

Clove let out a happy yelp, not expecting Altair to roll both of them over until he was hovering above her. She giggled softly as she felt the grass brush against her shoulders and neck before returning her attention to the Tiefling above her. It wasn't until then that she realized he had removed his shirt while she was somewhat preoccupied, exposing his dark charcoal skin to the night sky. The stars behind him one by one vanished, no longer mattering to Clove and leaving only Altair visible. The moonlight framed his silhouette, outlining his muscles. He was towering over her small body, obstructing all sources of light, and yet she wasn't scared despite how much bigger he was than her. No. He was breathtaking, and Clove couldn't help but stare for a few seconds with her mouth slightly open.

She couldn't force her lips shut until Altair gently took her hand, pressing her fingers against his skin. She had caught glimpses of his pecs while fighting with the nurses to save the Tiefling, as well as his abs when he performed a handstand during the Huttball victory dance, but never his entire chest. Her fingertips carefully traced the area of his pecs where, in her memory, she had placed her palms, circling around the sternum. Then, daringly feeling and tracing each and every curve, she slowly lowered her fingers down his pecs toward his abs. While she noticed the scars on his torso, they were simply a part of him and for now she wanted to see and remember as much as possible, so her fingers danced right over them, accepting them for what they were and following the next curve.

Altair started to trace her skin with his lips as she was tracing his chest, which made her let out a warm breath of air. She yearned for so much more as he touched her, leaving each area feeling warm and tingly. The half-Annfyn had to resist the urge to ask for me when the Tiefling rose back up. An urge that grew even worse after he admitted she made him nervous. While looking up into his violet eyes, Clove giggled softly and tilted her head to the right in the grass, allowing her sea of curls to shift through the green blades. "I'm also pretty nervous." She admitted with a similar whisper. "But the view makes it worth it."

Clove felt his fingers reach for the fabric's edge, holding it without ever pressing it down. That's when she noticed the look in his eyes, one of so much love, care and desire; a look that sent another wave of warmth through her body, her breath stocking. For a second her mind felt like it was about to shut down, a result of the nerves fighting with the desires. Was she ready to show him everything? Give herself completely to him? She knew what would happen if she said yes, something she desperately desired. But he'd be her first, which she didn't take lightly; it was the curse of her mother's blood. It would seal Altair in a place of her heart that would be impossible to remove, dooming her. But then again, what did she have to lose? She was certain she wanted him and him alone. After taking a deep breath, Clove nodded her head slowly. "Okay, but, I'd like to do the first part myself." Her ears were dancing up and down even more than before while she whispered softly with a clearly nervously giggle.

She raised her hand to the edge Altair was holding before slowly lowering it herself. As she did so, the sleeves fell down her arms and the rest of the top followed suit up until the waistband. The fabric slid down her silky skin, exposing the normally concealed pale and creamy skin to the Tiefling, along with the entire tattooed lightning scar curling around her ribcage and a scar directly beneath her heart. She let go of the fabric with another deep and nervous breath and reached for the zipper on the right side of her dress, grasping it before pulling it down. She could no longer go back now, and she didn't want to. Her brown eyes never left Altair's as she lowered her arms to the ground once more, feeling as though she had done enough to overcome the worst of her nerves and let him continue if he so chose.

Why did this feel as if it were truly the first time he was doing this? Why did everything about this make him feel so confident and terrified at once? She would be able to tell he was just as nervous from the way he breathed, the way he gazed at her, the way his heart pounded against his chest. He began to slowly realize what it was. It was because for the first time ever, his heart truly beat for the other person. Because it beat for Clove. Because for better or worse, he loved her. They were crossing a boundary that would engrave her in his chest just as he would do to her. The thought terrified him, but he couldn’t stop. He wanted to step into this fire that could actually consume him willingly if it meant being with her.

His gaze remained on hers for a moment even as she gently took away her dress and revealed more of her skin. It was only after she had already slipped it down towards her waist that he finally allowed himself to glance down. There was a pained gaze on his face as he took in sight of the scars on her chest, “Is…is this where..” He whispered quietly, feeling a hot rush of anger at the sight. Her flawless skin was marred in ways he never knew. He had known of the injuries, but to see them so bare caused a whirlwind of emotions. Altair’s fingers gingerly brushed against the scar, and she would be able to sense the emotions pulsing through him.

He knew he had to push the rage aside. He had to anchor himself back into the moment, away from the thoughts that began to take him towards their war. Towards the reality they both had to face. He wouldn’t let that ruin tonight, not when they had this rare moment they may never get again. Altair met her eyes again, “You’re perfect, Clove,” He said as he leaned down and kissed against her collarbone, “You’re perfect here,” He whispered against her skin and then kissed against her tattoo, “And here,” He continued slightly lower and kissed a scar, “And here,” His lips continued to trace gentle kisses down her body, marred and unmarred skin alike, and he reminding her of how he cherished every bit of her the whole way.

The wind brushed gently against their skin, the rustling of leaves and the grass admixing with soft sighs and tenderness shared between two people from different worlds that desperately demanded they stay apart. Just for tonight, Altair put aside the armor, his principles, his discipline, his new and dark creed and the banner he fought for. Just for tonight, he surrendered himself completely - mind, body and soul.

Clove's breath stopped when she saw Altair's pained expression. She was well aware of what he was seeing and why it had brought him to a grinding halt. His quiet whispers only confirmed what she already knew. He noticed her scars, scars left by the Sith. By Aadya, his ex-girlfriend, but as far as she knew no one ever told Altair that she was the one who scarred her. Which might have been for the best, considering the rage she felt boiling in the Force. She bit her lip when he touched her scars, and as her ears started to droop more and more with each new gingerly touch, she was reminded of how she got those scars.

Altair's attention returned to her just as she was about to shy away; her hands were already reaching for some fabric. His words confused her, they were so alien to the expression his face previously carried. Then his lips once more touched her skin, kissing each scar delicately and praising each one as perfect. And she began to trust him more and more with each kiss. She remained frozen for a second longer before she finally rested her head on the grass again, the muscles in her arms relaxing. The further down he went, the more her mind was free of nightmares and only found happiness. He truly loved her for who she was, flaws and all. She fought back tears of joy as she closed her eyes at the thought. Tears that quickly faded as the Tiefling touched places she had never been touched before.

Clove let go of everything for the first time in her life: shame, care, morals, duty, responsibility and composure. Be damned with consequences. Nothing could stop her as the stars shone down on their bodies, the wind ruffled their hair, and the grass and blanket moved beneath them. No one saw the stars as they began to fall from the sky. She was his and his alone, trusting him blindly and giving him her heart. All she wanted to do was make the Tiefling as happy as she could, show him much he meant to her and how much she cherished every aspect of him. Following his lead at all times, she felt sensations she had never felt before and a connection she had never experienced before.

The half-head Annfyn's hadn't left the Tiefling's chest in a few minutes. Her hand was resting on his, and their legs were intertwined. Despite the fact that she was exhausted throughout, she had never felt lighter. She hummed softly to herself while keeping her eyes closed and enjoying the close skin-to-skin contact she had never realized she craved. Their damp skin was kept cool by the wind as it continued to pass over their bodies. "I wish I could stay here forever..." she murmured before softly brushing her lips against the Tiefling's chest. She slowly opened her eyes and raised her gaze to the night sky above. She blinked once before happily giggling; only now did she notice the falling stars and trails they left behind. "Look, maybe our wishes will actually come true."

Altair was only half awake, resisting the desperate urge to fall asleep right there. The experience had been breathtaking and so much more incredible than anything he could have imagined. He had never cherished or focused on pleasing a woman like he had done with her, and his emotions were never so perfectly harmonized with every physical action. Love and tenderness spilled into every moment they shared together and he felt it in turn from her. He knew they crossed a line they could never return from, nor did he ever want to.

The tiefling nuzzled close against Clove, the wind feeling cool against his exhausted frame that was thinly lined with sweat. Altair gazed up at the sky, watching the comets streak across the sky. He couldn’t help but smile at her words, “I think your parents would kill me,” Altair said as he turned his head to face her. His gaze lingered on hers for a moment before he leaned in to kiss her again, never getting enough. He drew back and pulled her close, feeling the hints of goosebumps along her skin.

The dark fields around them came to life with fireflies floating all around them. Altair couldn’t help but watch them, savoring every little moment he could with her. In truth, he didn’t want this moment to ever end either. He didn’t want them to put their clothes back on, he didn’t want to have to say good bye, he didn’t want to be a galaxy apart again. He simply wanted her to sink against him and have her perfect frame in his warm embrace.

“Maybe the galaxy can forget about us,” Altair said with a soft exhale, “And we just fade into obscurity and just stay with each other,” He grinned as he watched the fireflies, “Like in the Holomovies. Except I can do all the cooking and you can go earn the big credits as a doctor,” He looked at her again and chuckled quietly, the tenderness still in his eyes.

"Oh, they would, and then they'd chase me." Clove laughed warmly, shifting her attention from the gorgeous night sky above to the Tiefling's even more gorgeous eyes. Her free hand reached up for his jawline and delicately cupped it when she felt his lips brush against hers. Each of his kisses was sweeter than the last, and she couldn't get enough of them. Clove let out a happy and deep breath of air when their lips parted, which turned into a giggle as he drew her closer to him. She wrapped her arms around his body, allowing his body heat to shield her from the almost chilly wind while snuggling ever so closely.

The once-dark grassland was suddenly illuminated by soft yellow and green flickers that flew up and danced around them. Fireflies! Like Altair, she couldn't help but stare, her body relaxing even more against his. It was a scene out of fairy tales; something she'd seen in perfect holomovies and dreamt of seeing herself with the person she loved so dearly. The thought of wanting to stop time, the one thought that had followed her all day, kept coming back to her. Oh, what she wouldn't give to spend all of eternity in a field of fireflies with the Tiefling. Close to each other, with no pain or fear, just them and their happiness.

"Hmmm." Clove mused as she raised her head to face the Tiefling once again, her curls brushing against his now slightly yellow-green-hued skin. "You'd be able to make credits as well! You are such a talented chef that the entire galaxy would want to buy your cookbooks." She gave him a warm, adoring smile while tracing what appeared to be tiny hearts on his side and looking at him with eyes that sparkled with joy and love. "I'd do it, you know." Her voice lowered to a tender whisper. "I'd drop everything in a heartbeat if the galaxy could just forget about us. Disappear together with you, have our own little place." It'd be as simple as breathing; she was the light in his darkness. Something always meant to be. "You make all of my daydreams come true in ways that I... could never have imagined, I've never felt this happy before." She took a long breath and lowered her head until her chin was resting on his chest, never taking her eyes off of him.

The realization that they were running out of time crept closer and closer. She wanted to stay in his arms forever, but the galaxy would eventually catch up. Altair's duty and studies would soon take him somewhere only the Force knew, and Clove had to move to Yavin 8—a location so close to the Temples that it would be difficult for Tieflings to visit without drawing the Jedi's attention. Her fluted ears dropped at the mere thought.

"Hey... Let's make a promise." The yellow and green light of the dancing fireflies illuminated Clove's pale skin and reflected in her soft gaze as she lifted her chin off the Tiefling's chest and sat up straight next to him. With her pinky raised, she extended her hand toward him. "A promise that we'll see each other again, no matter what happens or how long it takes. And that even if the galaxy is incredibly cruel, we'll figure out a way to find one another again." She wished she could have made a lot more promises and give her entire heart to him. But for now, this would be enough.

She had another thought, which made her smile more playfully. "And I'd like to borrow your pink tank top to prove to you how serious I am about this promise," she added. He wouldn't be going home bare-chested, she'd seen the white top beneath it. "So I can..." Her voice trailed off as she clearly looked for an innocent explanation. "So I can keep it safe and return it to you the next time we meet! Yes!" She said enthusiastically, her ears dancing upwards. The real reason was so that she would have something to hold when she felt lonely. A reminder of the Tiefling and their wonderful day together. "And as a trade, you can have my necklace. So you can keep it safe as well."

Altair knew he was being silly saying all these things, but the words flowed before he could stop himself. He half expected Clove to draw away from him or call him crazy - because he was. There was no logic left in him, not right now. He surrendered himself to the intoxicating euphoria she gave him - like a glass of water after he didn’t even know he had been parched and wandering the desert this entire time. The tiefling closed his eyes briefly, simply savoring the warmth between them and hearing her quiet whispers.

His eyes shot open when she spoke about running away with him. Altair turned his head to look at her, his eyes slightly wide, “Don’t say that, Clove,” He said quietly, “Because I’ll do it. I’ll take you away with me. Somewhere far away…I’ll make it work. I’ll take care of you,” Altair said as he cupped her face in his hand. But he knew it was all wishful thinking, and he sighed and looked back at the fireflies again.

Altair blinked a few times when she spoke of a promise. For a long moment, he said nothing. He had thought New Alderaan would be the last time they would see each other and it had already been as enemies. Could he truly take that again? The tiefling couldn’t help but smile sadly when she mentioned the tank top, “It’s because it’s pink, ain’t it?” He asked teasingly, the warmth still in his eyes. Altair nodded after a moment, “It’s a deal,” A part of him was screaming internally for it. He knew what he was and he knew the kind of path he would have to walk as a Sith. He knew the war would only get worse. He knew they were being naive, but he didn’t care.

Without warning, he abruptly turned her so they flipped and he was on his back. She was suddenly seated on his stomach, gazing down at him. For a moment, Altair simply stared at her, watching the way her hair fell around her bare shoulders and the fireflies danced behind her. The tiefling’s arms were loosely resting on her legs.

“Keep my heart safe,” Altair said quietly after a long moment. Something he would say for the first and last time for a long time to anyone, “Because you're keepin' that too.”

The stillness of the Tiefing was unsettling. What was he contemplating? She or his The Tiefing's silence was unsettling. What was he thinking? Was he doubting her or his feelings for her? Oh, how she wished she could just peek inside his mind and hear what he was thinking. In those silent moments, it would make everything a little bit simpler. Thankfully, the mention of his top motivated the Tiefling to speak up again, causing Clove to take a relaxed breath. "It's a deal." She repeated while hooking her pinky against his and smiling so brightly that her cheeks once again brushed up against her lower eyelids. Deep down, she knew it was foolish; she'd seen how poorly everything went on Dantooine, and she knew that unless things changed, their faith would be just that. But she didn't care. She'd cherish that promise for as long as she could.

A surprised yelp escaped the half-mouth Annfyn's as he rolled her over until he was beneath her legs. She batted her eyelashes at the Tiefling before lowering her hands on top of his, her head tilted to the right. She could never get enough of staring into his brilliant violet eyes.

Clove hadn't expected the words that came after the silence. With her ears barely keeping up with the waves of emotion she felt, she was now the one quietly gazing at Altair while her mind was racing with a thousand ideas. Pure bliss and happiness at the thought that he had trusted her with something so important. Fear and sadness at the possibility that she might be unable to keep it safe. But she managed to save his heart once, quite literally at that. So she'd try again, this time figuratively. "Okay," Clove said quietly, with a more timid and shy smile. Her hands let go of his and reached for the small silver necklace that hung around her neck. She unhooked the chain and took the small silver flower in her hand, pressing her lips against it. After kissing it she lowered it again and gave it one last look before pressing it gently into Altair's right palm. "Keep my heart safe as well. Altair, you are the only one to who I want to give my heart. It's all yours."

She raised her big brown eyes to the sky and gave the moon and stars one last look. They'd have to leave any minute now. She wasn't ready to say goodbye, but time had caught up with them and they had no choice but to face reality. After taking a deep breath, Clove leaned forward and brushed the Tiefling's lips with her own. She lingered, savoring the warmth and taste of his lips so she wouldn't forget. It was their last kiss before saying their goodbyes.
