Biology
They appear to some cultures as devil-like creatures from the pits of hell, with horns of many shapes and sizes, sharpened teeth, and their reddened skin, a long with a tail with a usually sharp point, which can vary in size. Both female and male have hair, which is usually longer on both sexes. Hair color can vary from black to dark red. Eyes can have pupils and vary in any color, while some are all white, with no pupil. Their horns are usually a little darker then their skin tone, which is usually a red, but can be seen sometime with almost a human-colored tone. The Ears of them also vary from human-like to full pointed.
Subspecies
The Wakartel
The Wakartel are a very rare sub species of Nortaul. They have the basic looks of the mainstream race, but differ in two things. The Wakartel can have wings varying in sizes and shapes, and can even fly if large enough. The wings are usually a shade of the skin tone of the person. Another rare occurrence is that they can have shades of black and green as a skin color, even having scales some places.

The Cernun
The Cernun are a more common subspecies of Nortaul. They differ greatly from the mainstream race, almost looking human. The Cernun have pointed ears which range in sizes, and are sometimes so sharp they can cut skin. Cernun also have tan skin with a smooth-tan tail, with no pointed end, instead a rounded end. Cernun sometimes put feathers in their hair to look like horns, so they look more like their cousins, the Nortaul. They also have very sharp toe nails, which they use for defense. They also have usually white hair.

Breeding
Nortaul sexually reproduce much like most other species of the galaxy. Nortaul females are usually pregnant around 14 standard months, or around a standard galactic year and two months, before giving birth. Although mammalian, they give birth to several soft-shelled eggs, which have the coloration of the skin of the baby, and hatch within hours after birth. Babies use their tiny horns to break through the eggs, and get their first meal. Nortaul young can walk almost immediately after birth, around one hour. Although they can walk easily, they have trouble breathing, therefor are usually kept still so they do not run out of breath easily and their tail tied to their backs, which could make them blind until they can control it. Nortaul Young grow slowly, which makes them seem younger then they actually are.
The control of their tails and breathing increase over the years, and eventually get really good night vision, but until around age 11 they are literally blind in the dark. Due to their appearance and heritage, they are only able to cross-breed with humans and some near-humans. Cross-breeds are very rare due to their culture shunning hybrids. Nortaul reach maturity at the age of 12, which other species call puberty, which males can then can grow facial hair.
Strengths
They are live very long compared to some other species. They are able to outlast their enemies, and usually use this tactic to avoid warfare. They live about 283 years. They also are very immune to extreme heat, and are able to last in very high temperatures for a long period of time, while other species could not stay there for minutes.
Weaknesses
Due to being adapted to living in the extreme heat, some not even feeling a day of coldness, they are able to die very quickly if the temperature is under 20 degrees and they do not have the correct gear on. Due to their tails and horns, they also are not able to move as quickly as some of the other races. This is a very deadly thing to have in combat, which is why they use ranged tactics more often.
Diet
Nortauls are Carnivores , eating many native fauna since there is little to no flora on their volcanic island. They have to perform rituals before they kill an animal however, so their spirit passes over to the other side. They eat many feline and vulpine like animals native to their island.
Behavior/Temperament
Despite their looks, Nortauls are usually a peaceful and forgiving race, which do not hold grudges or stay mad for long. There is one exception when they are not peaceful, most Nortauls are very defensive about threats and rude comments. They meditate often and perform daily rituals to cleanse all hatred from them.
Communication
Before discovering other species and worlds, Nortauls only spoke a small language of dozens of strange words and hand gestures. They are fully capable of speaking Basic if started at a young age, which many decide to learn and is usually good and fluent after years of learning it, but are highly unlikely to learn it later in life.
Culture
The species as a whole are broken down in several "Kingdoms", which rule over a part of the harsh land on the planet. Each kingdom is ruled by a Jahaga, which is King or Chieftain in their language. The Jahaga is usually chosen by his horn size, if their horns are thick or long, that means they usually are stronger and hold a bigger part in the society, or even lead. The Kingdoms form up an alliance, which is ruled by a Nahagel, a Chancellor in their language. The Chancellor is chosen by the same way the Jahaga is chosen, but they must have a special tone to their skin, a reddish-yellow. Although they are in an alliance, that does not stop them from conquering land from each other, although they will help each other if they are raided by the neighboring species.
They are in tune with nature and are very spiritual. The Yahang, or Spiritual Mother in basic, is the spiritual mother in charge of rituals and religious practices of each kingdom. The Yahang is chosen by the swirls of a horn and wisdom. The most swirls in the horns usually means more wise, but that is not always the case. The men in the society regularly have two wives, although chieftains or generals sometimes have up to five.
Although they are peaceful and kind, the military side of their society is very harsh and strict. The Grand Larak is in charge of the armies. The soldiers of the armies get promotions by fighting their superiors, and either killing them or until they surrender. The Grand Larak hosts annual Hunts where soldiers either have to kill enemy leaders or grand beasts. The females are not left out of the army, which they willingly and sometimes are forced to join, unless they were assigned another role in society already. There is little these traditions are not allowed, the grand villages, in which the religious leaders reside. If a kingdom or a soldier of that kingdom were to attack one of these villages, the whole Kingdom would be exiled or killed, depending on the damage.
Some Nortaul are force-sensitive, being able to use many force abilities, mainly Pyrokinesis. The Quara, which is force-sensitive in their language, are able to use the force which they call magic, with Pyrokinesis and Cryokinesis. Other then that, they can do the other normal force-sensitive abilities, and the Quara are highly respected and considered their saviors.
They rarely ever use Technology, instead using primitive weaponry and machinery in regular day to day life. The government however, has been using Technology for decades and even made advanced technology of their own, But no one knows of this but soldiers using advanced weaponry in ships or government officials, and are sworn to secrecy.

Soon their were full on massacres due to food shortage from hunting, causing a mass extinction in the Nortaul race. The remaining Nortaul family leaders gathered to talk about a truce and how to solve this crisis, which they did. The problem they decided was sending dozens of ships across the water to the main continent, where animals flourished. When the ships arrived at the continent, they were met with aggression to the defensive early Vaxarns. After months of bloodshed to try to get food, they finally got enough to return to the island, which they did quickly to get away from the hostile early Vaxarns. Once they returned they let the animals they brought populate, and soon they had plentiful food. The next twenty years they lived in harmony and peace, flourishing side by side with other families of Nortaul, but soon one family was mass murdered from Vaxarns, who learned how to get there by following the food expedition. The Nortaul now at war with the Vaxarns began constant raids on each side, and hundreds died. They continued warring for decades, having small skirmishes and battles.
On one battle, five decades after the first skirmish, they saw a giant ship-like object land onto the battlefield and start to kill soldiers with colored beams. Both sides retreated as more ships landed all over the world. These unknown beings started burning villages, and killing women and children. After a month of running, the remaining Nortaul and Vaxarn were caught. They were put into slavery for years, mining the minerals of Koraav. After being enslaved for twelve years, a rebellion started. The following years, thousands of Nortaul escaped to this rebellion. They soon launched an attack to retake their island, although losing many, they won. They soon re-established order and sent an army to retake and free the Vaxarn. After months of getting support of Vaxarn slaves and sending skirmishes to outposts of the beings, they finally retook their planet, with them fleeing off world. They now live as peace with the Vaxarn, remembering those they lost.

The civilians of the planet, and all non-military or anyone not in high ranking politics uses primitive technology. They use primitive weapons like swords, bows and spears, but the government secretly uses high-tech tools of their own. The government has their own star ships, high powered weapons and more that the population does not know about.
Intent
I have always loved Tieflings and I hate playing humans in a sci if or fantasy games or Roleplays. I found no real good feline or devilish races(Kinds I love to play), so I wanted to incorporate a species like this into the new timeline. I also wanted to make a an indie faction with a leader being Nortaul(Phegoria), and I saw someone said "Why not make a species out of Tieflings?" somewhere in the old timeline.
