Not 'The Interview', but a pretty damn important one.

The Network had been having a message before all ad-breaks and after them all, this was a historic moment. A Hutt was willing to be interviewed and have it broadcast throughout the galaxy! He sat in his chair beside the area that the palanquin would be placed. He was at a respectful distance, but one that still allowed the pair to be caught by camera three. Camera one would face only the interviewee, two the interviewer. Make-up and hair had come and gone, and wardrobe checked that the suit was fine, for the third time since he'd sat down.

The floor manager, some Sullustan of at least a little note started waving the now unnecessary staff away as they began counting down. The lights dimmed on three, to the rest of the world, the title credits for Czerka News Network and the customization to add that this was a special edition broadcast labelled quite simply 'An Interview with...' this episode being with the Hutt of the hour. He checked his earpiece and nodded to the floor manager. the lights faded into life and he turned to camera two. "Good Evening and Welcome, I'm Rix Paige and this is Czerka News Network's an Interview with. The first in what we hope will be a long running series where we discuss hot topics throughout the galaxy with those in the know and those that know. In the future we plan to include questions from you, the viewers and those listening in. But now comes the time to introduce our guest. Recently appointed ambassador to the Republic on behalf of the families of Nal Hutta, Nor'baal Desajilic Koragga." The curtains behind him parted and the cushioned palaquin rolled into position. The vast form emanated power, as much as it did it's aroma. Luckily, Rix had lightly placed an aromatic salve around the rim of his nostrils and wore a liberal amount of a cologne from Naboo's famed perfumeries. Sitting back down after the ambassador's entrance Rix welcomed the Hutt. "Welcome, your Excellency. How was your journey here, are you well?"

They didn't even send a shuttle! the Hutt thought in mock outrage, as he exited his own Seltiss-2 Caravel accompanied by several members of the Embassies staff, and of course a few thugs he had hired in from his own considerable contacts base, just to be on the safe side. Nor'baal was, in a way, not that shocked that the CNN group had not sent him a shuttle, for they most likely tried to avoid the hassle of co-coordinating security efforts with dignitaries and their staff - and the Hutt respected that - for security when dealing with the slow-to-trust members of his own species was testament to the nitpicking nature of important/infamous people and their staffs attention to detail.

Adorned in his usual diplomatic dress, consisting of a shoulder cape, mechanical eye-piece (with incorporated data-slate), a be-jewelled hat made of the finest Wookiee hide, and metallic bracers, with a metallic and jewelled chain binding the cape to him. Within the bracers would be found two ornate hold-out blasters, incorporated into the inlaid design of the bracers, that could be popped out of their exterior, for a more deadly and practical purpose. He had no reason to think he would need to make use of them at this gathering however - but it would make for interesting television he mused as he approached the CNN security team.

Waving a Nova Crystal at the approaching Security, who in light of this enticement decided against searching the Hutt, he entered the CNN tower, well in advance of the interview itself, and soon went about readying himself for the rigour of questioning that he would be put through by the formidable interviewer they had lined up for him - Rix Paige. Who hadn't head of Rix, a media mogul who had risen through the ranks of the dog-eat-dog world of journalism? A part of the Hutt was tempted to just call off the interview, but another part of him silenced that desire, instead reminding Nor'baal as to why he had agreed to this.

Publicity, a good face! he reminded himself, as he went onto the studio floor, before sliding into the recliner the CNN team had prepared for him. Taking a small gulp (which emptied the rather small glass) from the provided drinking vessel, he offered a greeting to the interviewer, before the lights went up, and the theme music played. The curtains opened, and the vast form of Nor'baal was reveled, to the staged clapping of the studio audience, who where hard to see behind the bright lights of the studio.

Careful Nor'baal, the Council is watching....he reminded himself as the interviewer readied the audience for what they hoped would be an exciting series of questions, rebuttals and humor as the show went on, but for now at least, the questioning followed a polite, and pleasantly simple route by way of an opening question, one which Nor'baal responded with <A pleasure to be here Mr. Paige, and my journey was pleasing, for it is always a joy to traverse this pleasant world.> he said in his native Huttese, the numerous translators converting the vulgar language into various others for the benefit of the audience.

"It is refreshing to here someone complement their surroundings after a journey, especially in the iconic surrounds of Coruscant." Good, a high point and a little touch for the tourism board. Now to start the proceedings with a hook, he had to draw in any wayward viewers that had just turned over.

He crossed his legs and dusted his knee of an imaginary bit of dust off of his black trousers. He placed his datapad in his lap and looked into the Hutt's giant eyes. "Why do you think it is that very few... in fact I do not recall any of the Hutt family's prestigious members having enabled a meeting such as this? Some, less informed, people would say that it is due to the family's ties to Galaxy spanning organised crime syndicates. But then there are honest hard working traders and, like yourself, statesmen." The audience remained in stunned silence, it was as if they were anticipating a death. He'd heard the same silence at gladiatorial pits, while waiting for the verdict to be passed. But this was the unspoken question, this was what he hunted, he sort out that which daren't be asked and he'd through it into the light. People pretend to be pleasant, tend toward the ideal life. But deep inside they are disturbingly primal. Look what happens to ratings if graphic violence or a scandal of an explicit nature is wafted in front of the masses, nobody would convince him otherwise.

He had the safety of the public and an arrangement with the Hutt, he'd create an image for this business-Hutt. In turn the Hutt would give him leads, stories and much more. He placed his thumb under his chin, and his index finger on his lower lip in contemplation, hanging on every word to come out of the giant void that was his guests lip-less mouth.

He could have breathed a sigh of relief when the man opened with a complement, not a hostile question about the illicit actions of the Hutts. This may go better than expected, he considered, as he contemplated his answer, and the implications that cocking up this interview could have on his standing back on Hutta. If he gave away their criminal activities, he could be lauded as a hero by some clans, or scorned as a reckless fool by others, so Nor'baal decided to play it carefully - and if the time came, he would just ignore and avoid, like a good politician.

<Being so far from the Core, it is often hard for the illustrious Hutt Lordas to make their way in for interviews, and so many of the journalists who come to Hutta get lost on the way!> he exclaimed, ignoring the question about suggested Criminality, and instead focusing on the subject of interviewing. One answer down, he mumbled to himself, as he awaited the next - hopefully more stimulating - questions.

"So the vast distance between here and the Outer Rim, is too much for the great Hutt Lord's capabilities and yet, as their new ambassador... you are here. Maybe you have risen to such a position due to your capabilities in interstellar travel?" The tension of the room stiffened more, everyone daren't even look around. This comment held so much, flattery, a backhanded critic on the Hutt Lords. This could cause him a lot of trouble in the near future, if he hadn't had a half decent follow up. "So, your Excellency, please share with us your story, it is my understanding that every Hutt lives an extremely... interesting life. Those at the top could be made into best selling movies and novels I'm sure."

He let out a smile, some of the tension had been mellowed, but all of them awaited the response of the Hutt in the room. Would he oblige Rix, would he berate him? Either way, it'll make excellent reviews.

Despite the interviewers barbed backhand swipe at this Hutt associates, Nor'baal remained professional as the question was asked of him, his face impassive as he considered a response that would not place him in a negative light. Finally, he settled on an answer as he heard the man conclude his questions. I must be cautious, the Hutt considered as he weighed up the pros and cons of answering in such a way, before finally speaking.

<Mr. Paige, you are to kind. Indeed I have lead an interesting life as a legitimate Hutt of trade and of commerce. However, it would be niave, arrogant even, for me to compare my career to those of the Lordas on Hutta, whose interests and achievements run so deep that they have scarcely the time to venture this far into the Core, hence why they appoint an Ambassador. Whilst my ability for interstellar travel is one shared by my colleagues on Hutta, it is one that I have the time to utilize, for the burrden of leading the 'Glorious Jewel' is a heavy one, that leaves little time for recourse.> he said, as diplomatic as ever.

The answer was a tactful one, for it allowed him to laud his Masters on Hutta, who kept him appointed as Ambassador - despite the fact some of the Hutt families hated him because of his Clan name anyway - whilst also showing that he was not above self praise, and was still capable standing alone, without the support of the Lordas. <
Perhaps you could star in the movies Mr. Paige? The dashing rogue perhaps?> he laughed, to the amusement of the audience.
