DESCRIPTION

Due to the Imperial fleet moving around and squashing rebellions, the planets lacked security to defend themselves. Many systems began to purchase small security corvettes and fighters to protect their own. Tradesmen also are being pirated and robbed even in some parts of the inner rim. Thus the need for a gunship for purchase through private parties and the creation of the Nova Class Star-Fighter.

There are two versions of this ship in existence, the MII has light shields and 2x Medium-laser cannons instead of four. Like most gunships though, the MI sacrifices defense for more offense.

Although 1 pilot can operate this gunship alone, the rear light laser cannons are far less accurate without an actual gunner in control and there is practically no damage control without a co-pilot, extremely limiting the scope of the gunship with just one person at the controls.

The Nova has a little more size and firepower than your typical fighter, but its maneuverability takes the toll and is lower than average, meaning the Nova needs to due enough damage in its initial attack to destroy or scare off its enemies because it is definitely weaker when it comes to a dog fight. Also due to the fact that permits for these type ships are mostly limited to two, a wing-man to assist in dogfights is also limited.

When she does have a fighter in her sights, the Nova should use 1 of its 4 mounted concussion missiles to quickly deal with it before it has time to get prime position on the Nova itself. The dual light laser turret on the back is extremely limited, but has the needed effect of scaring off most who try to get into firing position on the Nova.

Restricted. In civilized systems, pilots must be properly licensed or be members of recognized armed groups.

INTENT
A gunship for more advanced pilot characters.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. The armament is mostly heavy. If it had light lasers instead of medium and no concussion missiles, it would not be considered Advanced. Only one tech plot is needed for this (the same armament minus 2 medium lasers is already on an approved non-advanced star fighter)

That's not a good intent

All so why does a planetary defence ship need a hyperdrive

All so the Imperial fleet been keeping the peace for 500 years. The civil war and Mando uprising just started and there is no Rebel movement IC.


All though the Idea of a Planetary Defence Fighter is sound I don't see it needing a Hyperdrive based on how you described it since they can just use a hyperspace sled. You would all so need to say how many threads is needed in the tech plot and give a real intent

I like the idea of a heavy starfighter though you might want to consider it more of an attack gunship since it would be somewhere inbetween a bomber and starfighter most likely.

If it is combat oriented i would remove the passenger capacity down to 0. Cargo capacity should be like the weight of what a single person would maybe carry in a backpack or maybe moderately more. So that's about 50 kg per person, equaling out to 150 kilograms and that's generous.

What you put into Role seems like what you would put into affiliation. Role is meant more for 'what it does in the field' rather than 'what group uses it'.

If i'm to understand it right the MI is what you have above in the stats while the MII is less guns with shields?

I would not even mention the MII. You're trying to submit one ship here and it reads sort of complicated. In fact i would add a light deflector shield or something. This already has a lot of guns so I think the slightly weakened design of the MII should be the one and only submission here. Something this heavily armed and slow should have a shield otherwise it will get shredded super fast. The MI is a glass cannon that is really susceptible to even the lightest of armed opposition.
