With the security hub itself already having been invaded and successfully shut down, it would now be immensely easier for Devrim and the other rebel he'd selected to actually carry out the heist on the database. With the building that held the blueprints to an external shield generator belonging to a particularly well-funded manufacturing company, it was still notably well-guarded. These guards being under their own payroll as opposed to outside private mercenary hires, their primary concerns were in fact other competing companies that wished to get their hands on the valuable blueprints. Despite this tempting method of gaining the upper hand in the business of shield generators, no other competitors had actually dared to attempt a heist. Security shifts were always rather boring and uneventful, with routine checklists and hours of watching bleary camera feeds.
Tonight, Devrim had selected none other than Ner’Giza to accompany him for the assignment. He'd seen her in action before, and the broad-shouldered rebel knew how effective she was in the field. "You ready?" he asked her quietly as they stood across the street from their targeted building. Despite looking almost identical to Coruscant, the ecumenopolis of Denon was in fact quite different — notably, that the streets here were much darker and less populated than those of the Imperial Republica capital. Few ventured into the business sector of the planet at this time of day. Today, Devrim and Ner’Giza were dressed in the outfit of commonplace electrical engineers. While concealed on his person, the dark-haired rebel carried his Quickdraw pistol, the rest of his gear was stashed inside the electrician's work bag that he carried by the strap around his back. The rebel took a breath to reassure himself and steady his resolve. This was it — it was more than likely they wouldn't get a shot like this again.
The glow from the data center's lights flickered from time to time. The hit on the security hub that Devrim and Toland had made earlier certainly seemed to have taken its toll. It appeared that the building was operating solely off of its emergency generators, one of which was malfunctioning — information that the rebels had gleaned in their surveillance after their previous hits. Intercepting the electricians hired to get to work in the data center was easy enough. Their disguises would pass anywhere on Denon. To every other living being, they were quite literally nobodies. And Devrim liked it that way — security through obscurity.
